Emaar has launched its Focused Mentorship 3.0, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing Emirati talentand building a resilient, future- ready workforce.
The initiative, which follows the successful conclusion of Mentorship 2.0, is part of Emaar's broader efforts to foster professional growth and knowledge exchange, while building a strong leadership pipeline within the organisation.
Inspired by the vision of Mohamed Alabbar, Founder of Emaar, to cultivate a supportive community among UAE Nationals, Emaar launched its Mentorship Programme in 2023. The initiative empowers Emirati employees by fostering an environment where they can guide, support, and inspire each other through a group mentoring concept. This programme reflects Alabbar's dedication to nurturing talent and giving back to the nation.
The programme has evolved into Emaar Focused Mentorship 3.0 to reflect its dynamic new model, whichempowers mentees to choose mentors that align with their specific learning needs, career aspirations, or project requirements. In this model, mentors have been carefully selected based on specific skill sets that can help mentees build critical capabilities, enhanced business understanding ultimately, driving greater value for the organisation. This personalised approach enhances cross-departmental collaboration and offers mentees more targeted guidance to accelerate their growth.
Unlike traditional mentorships, this is a bold, unconventional, and truly distinctive initiative — a first-of-its-kind approach that sets a new benchmark in organisational development. It aims to deliver skill sets not only through classroom sessions but through a blended approach of immersions, fireside chats, learning labs, and on-the- job exposure, offering mentees a holistic and immersive learning experience.
The inaugural Mentorship 1.0 cohort enrolled 66 UAE Nationals, with numbers doubling in the next edition — Mentorship 2.0 — which saw the active participation of 23 certified mentors and 133 mentees from diversedepartments and disciplines.
The programme's design centres on building meaningful relationships based on trust, guidance, and mutual growth.
'At its core, our mentorship programme is about empowering individuals to reach their potential while cultivating a culture of continuous learning,' said Alabbar. 'The success of Mentorship 2.0 reflects the enthusiasm, dedication, and collaborative spirit of our people, and we are excited to build on that momentum with Focused Mentorship 3.0.'
Mentors reported a deeply enriching experience as they engaged with talents across departments, elevatingtheir leadership capabilities while supporting the development of their peers. All mentors participating in the programme are certified through the John Maxwell leadership methodology, underscoring Emaar's commitment to world- class mentoring standards.

UAE Launches Emergency Airport Plan Amid Travel Disruption

The UAE has activated its emergency business continuity plan to maintain airport operations amid ongoing travel disruption amid regional tensions. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) confirmed it has taken all necessary steps to guarantee continuous airport operations across the UAE. This includes close coordination with all operational entities to address the fallout from recent regional and political developments that led to airspace closures in certain countries. The primary goal is to ensure the safety and smooth movement of passengers without compromising service quality. The ICP clarified that its approved emergency business continuity plan was immediately activated when these events unfolded. This ensures operational flexibility and minimises potential disruptions to travel, especially given the airspace closures by some nations. The plan encompassed precise operational and regulatory procedures, executed in collaboration with strategic partners. To maintain peak readiness and immediate responsiveness, the Authority has bolstered airport field teams with qualified personnel and robust operational capabilities, available 24/7. Furthermore, the ICP is coordinating with all relevant operational bodies to manage the situations of stranded passengers, ensuring they receive vital support such as temporary accommodation, logistical services, and accurate information. The ICP also stated that a streamlined system for passenger entry into UAE airports has been implemented, aligning with current operational needs. Direct guidance is being provided to passengers by support teams, with immediate coordination with airlines in the UAE for flight rescheduling. The Authority commended passengers for their cooperation and understanding during these exceptional regional circumstances. It reiterated its unwavering commitment to undertaking all necessary measures to guarantee the security and safety of all travellers under any conditions or emergencies. This support is rooted in authentic Emirati values, proactive service standards, and comprehensive crisis and emergency management plans, ultimately ensuring the seamless delivery of services for both arriving and departing passengers according to the highest international standards and practices. Airlines and airports across the UAE have issued travel advisories and warnings amid flight suspensions and cancellations. Get the latest updates and flight suspension details here.

Dubai's Higher Education Sector Sees Nearly 20% Rise In Enrollment

Dubai is emerging as one of the world's fastest-growing higher education hubs, with total student enrollment at private institutions rising by around 20 per cent in the 2024–25 academic year, and international student numbers jumping 29 per cent, according to figures released by Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and global consultancy L.E.K. Consulting. More than 42,000 students are now enrolled across 41 private higher education institutions licensed by the KHDA, with international students making up 35 per cent of the total — a figure expected to rise under the emirate's Education 33 strategy. Four new international universities opened in the current academic year alone, signalling strong investor confidence in Dubai's education sector. The data was released at an exclusive high-level briefing hosted by L.E.K. Consulting's Global Education Practice recently in Dubai. The event brought together policymakers, investors, and higher education leaders to discuss Dubai's ambitions to become a world-class destination for transnational education. 'Dubai's continued growth as a global hub for higher education is testament to our leadership's vision and the ambitious goals of the Dubai Plan 33,' saidDr Wafi Dawood, CEO of the Strategic Development Sector at KHDA. 'Through E33, we are building a future where Dubai is not only a destination for quality education, but a centre of knowledge, innovation, and opportunity.' The KHDA's City of Students initiative, part of its broader Education 33 strategy, aims to increase international student enrollment to 50 per cent by 2033, bolstering the emirate's reputation as a top-tier study destination. Ashwin Assomull, partner and head of the Global Education Practice at L.E.K. Consulting, said Dubai's higher education sector represents 'one of the most compelling growth markets globally,' citing its student-friendly infrastructure, global university presence, and favourable cost and regulatory environment. 'Dubai presents a significant opportunity for international universities to meet the evolving needs of both local and international students,' he said, noting that increasing regulatory restrictions in traditional anglophone markets are pushing institutions and students to seek new education hubs. The briefing also highlighted increasing participation from Emirati students, with enrollment in international universities up 22 per cent year-on-year — underlining Dubai's dual appeal to both domestic and overseas learners.
