A missile-like object landed deep inside the Dal Lake – a major tourist attraction in Srinagar – after loud explosions rocked the city on Saturday (May 10) morning, officials said.
Smoke bellowed from the surface of the lake when the object landed, the officials said.
The debris of the object, which the security forces have fished out, is being analysed, they added, according to news agency PTI.

Another suspected object was recovered from Lasjan on the outskirts of the city on Saturday morning, which is being examined, the officials said.
Earlier, while addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Pakistan's actions over the last few days are being seen as 'provocative and escalatory'.
Col Sofiya Qureshi on Saturday said that Pakistan tried to attack an air base in Punjab. She said in response, India also launched several strikes targeting airbases across Pakistan.
Pakistan targeted a total of 26 locations in India in Saturday attacks, the government said.
India accused Pakistani forces of targeting civilian areas and medical, educational facilities in Kashmir.
It was also informed that Pakistan was increasing its deployment of troops on the border, signalling an intention to escalate the conflict.
Tensions between Pakistan and India are running high after New Delhi carried out precision strikes, under Operation Sindoor, against terror camps across the border in response to the April 22 terror attack in Kashmir.

After evacuation from Iran, Indians express relief; 827 brought back so far

As soon as the situation went south, we were evacuated by the embassy. I am very thankful to the Indian government." Farzana Abdi echoed similar sentiments, "We are coming back from Iran. There was a lot of fighting and missiles there. The Indian embassy helped us a lot and brought us here. We are very happy to be back in India. India is the best." Riyazul Hasan described the dire situation in Iran, "The situation is not good there. We saw from our hotel window that the missiles were coming, which were being intercepted mid-air. We are relieved to be back here. We came through the embassy. We thank PM Modi." Fatima expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister, "I am very grateful to PM Modi. Now I feel at peace after coming back to my country. Being back in your homeland is a matter of great joy." Almas Rizvi praised the Indian embassy's support, "We were given accommodation in a good hotel and given lunch, dinner, everything, on time. It feels good to be back in our country. Earlier in the day, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said, a centrifuge manufacturing workshop in the central Iranian city has been struck, making it the third nuclear-related facility targeted in Israeli attacks since June 13, Al Jazeera reported. "We know this facility well. There was no nuclear material at this site and therefore the attack on it will have no radiological consequences," Grossi said in a statement posted by the IAEA. On Friday, Grossi said the nuclear watchdog does not have information showing Iran is actively trying to build nuclear weapons. The Israeli military has already said that it's got many targets that it still has to hit, and the campaign has clearly broadened beyond the military, beyond top scientific advisers, and beyond missile launchers. Iranian plot to attack Israelis in Cyprus foiled, says Israel

JERUSALEM: Israel claimed Saturday that an Iranian plot to attack Israeli citizens in Cyprus had been foiled, as the war between the two arch-rivals raged for a ninth day. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar wrote on X that Iran's Revolutionary Guards had "tried to carry out an attack on Israeli citizens in Cyprus", a transit point where thousands have gathered either awaiting repatriation to Israel or having left the country. "Thanks to the activity of the Cypriot security authorities, in cooperation with Israeli security services, the terror attack was thwarted," Saar added. Cyprus police said earlier Saturday that they had arrested an individual on espionage and terror charges. Cypriot news outlet Philenews reported the man had links to "Iranian operatives" and was seen acting suspiciously near a British air force base at Akrotiri, outside the southern coastal city of Limassol. Britain's foreign ministry confirmed to AFP that the man was a British national. It was not clear whether the arrest was related to the alleged plot to attack Israelis mentioned by Saar, and Cypriot police declined to provide extensive details on the case.
