ALBAWABA - Jordanian King Abdullah II started a working visit to the United States last Sunday, the Jordan Times reported adding that the king will meet with US President Donald Trump today.
The US president's meeting with Jordan's King at the White House on Tuesday comes amid his repeated calls for Arab countries to host Palestinians as part of Trump's suggested plan to "take over" the Gaza Strip.
King Abdullah II's visit comes amid the uncertainty of the ceasefire agreement as Hamas announced pausing the release of the next hostages scheduled on Saturday accusing Israel of violating the truce.
As his Gaza plan to reshape the Middle East fluctuates, Trump will host King Abdullah II of Jordan at the White House today.

Trump suggested taking control of Gaza and turning it into 'the Riviera of the Middle East,' while "resettling" Palestinians into neighboring nations with no right of return in a proposal that was condemned by many countries including Jordan, Egypt, China and Germany.
Yesterday, Trump said he would pressure Jordan and Egypt into allowing the entry of Gazans saying, if necessary, he would withhold US funding from Jordan and Egypt.
Trump told reporters on Monday: "If they don't, I would conceivably withhold aid, yes."

If US joins 'Israeli' attack on Iran, we will target their ships in Red Sea, warn Houthis

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree today issued a strong statement reiterating the group's principled and steadfast rejection of 'Zionist aggression' against their Arab and Islamic brothers in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and any other Arab or Islamic country subjected to 'Israeli' attacks, as reflected in previous declarations. The statement described the ongoing battle against the 'Israeli' enemy, particularly its recent aggression targeting Iran, as part of a broader pattern of crimes committed against the Palestinian people, including mass killings and continuous attacks on the Lebanese and Syrian peoples, as well as Yemen itself. The recent escalation against the Islamic Republic of Iran under the guise of 'changing the face of the Middle East' was described as an attempt by Israel, backed by open American support and partnership, to gain full control over the region. Israel enemy sees Iran as the largest obstacle to the realization of its plan. Accordingly, the statement warned that any American aggression supporting 'Israel' against Iran as part of this goal to enable 'Israeli' dominance over the entire region will not be tolerated. Such actions would mean the confiscation of the freedom, independence, dignity, and identity of Arab and Islamic nations, their enslavement, humiliation, occupation of their lands, theft of their resources, and the establishment of a dangerous precedent for the desecration of lives, honor, land, and holy sites. Yahya Saree affirmed that this battle is a collective one for the entire nation. Salvation, pride, and victory lie in action and jihad in the way of God, citing Quranic verses emphasizing fighting in God's cause and divine support for believers who stand firm. The statement further declared that in the event of any American involvement in attacks on Iran alongside Israel, Yemeni forces will target American ships and warships in the Red Sea. The Houthis are closely monitoring all hostile movements in the region, including those against Yemen itself, and will take all necessary and legitimate measures to defend the country and its proud people. Finally, Yahya Saree affirmed the group's unwavering solidarity with any Arab or Islamic country facing Zionist aggression or deciding to confront such aggression in self-defense or in support of the Palestinian resistance fighters. They vowed never to abandon their brothers in Gaza and will not allow this criminal, US-backed entity to realize its plans in the region.

21 Palestinians Martyred by Israeli Gunfire in Gaza, Including 11 Waiting for Aid - Jordan News

21 Palestinians Martyred by Israeli Gunfire in Gaza, Including 11 Waiting for Aid At least 21 Palestinians were martyred and several others injured on Saturday as a result of Israeli occupation forces' gunfire in the Gaza Strip, including 11 individuals who were waiting to receive humanitarian aid. اضافة اعلان According to Palestinian medical sources, six people were killed and at least 10 injured by Israeli gunfire while waiting near an aid distribution point west of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat reported the deaths of five Palestinians and the injury of 15 others as they attempted to obtain aid near the Al-Shohada Junction in central Gaza. Additionally, three Palestinians were killed and others wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Zaytoun neighborhood in southern Gaza City, with victims transferred to Ahli Arab (Al-Maamadani) Hospital. Another three Palestinian brothers were martyred in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Mansoura Street in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, while one more Palestinian was killed by Israeli forces northwest of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, Israel has carried out what has been widely condemned as genocidal acts in Gaza, involving killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in defiance of international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the aggression. The ongoing assault has resulted in over 186,000 casualties, including martyrs and wounded — the majority being women and children — in addition to more than 11,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands displaced, and widespread famine that has claimed the lives of many, including children. — (WAFA)

Tunisia Sentences Former President Moncef Marzouki to 22 Years in Prison in Absentia - Jordan News

Tunisia Sentences Former President Moncef Marzouki to 22 Years in Prison in Absentia A Tunisian court has sentenced former President Moncef Marzouki, former presidential chief of staff Imed Daïmi, and former head of the Bar Association Abderrazak Kilani to 22 years in prison in absentia, according to a ruling issued by the Tunis First Instance Court. اضافة اعلان Tunisian radio Mosaique FM reported on Friday evening that the Criminal Chamber for Terrorism Cases at the court handed down the sentence with immediate enforcement, also applying the same sentence to two unnamed additional defendants. The Court of Appeals' specialized terrorism division reportedly classified all the accused as fugitives. In response to the ruling, Marzouki issued a statement Friday evening saying, 'Judges have today sentenced me to 22 years in prison, adding to a previous 8-year sentence and another of 4 years.' He added, 'These rulings have targeted some of Tunisia's most honorable figures and continue to provoke international ridicule.' Marzouki affirmed, 'Rest assured, democracy will return, and Tunisia will resume building a state based on law and institutions. The people will rise to free themselves from fear, humiliation, and further descent into poverty.' As of 8:30 GMT, there had been no official response from the Tunisian government regarding the sentence. Back in May 2024, Hanène Kaddas, spokesperson for the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division, told the official Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) agency that a judicial inquiry had been launched against Marzouki and others involved in a press conference held abroad (reportedly in France, though the date was not specified). Kaddas accused Marzouki of 'attacking state institutions, defaming several judges, and attributing false statements that damage their reputations.' Tunisian President Kais Saied has maintained that the judiciary operates independently and that he does not interfere in its affairs. However, the opposition accuses him of weaponizing the judiciary to prosecute critics of the exceptional measures he began implementing on July 25, 2021, which included freezing parliament, lifting immunity from MPs, abolishing the Constitutional Oversight Body, and issuing laws via presidential decrees. Major political and civil groups in Tunisia have rejected these exceptional measures, calling them 'authoritarian and a consolidation of one-man rule.' Meanwhile, other factions support them, viewing them as reflecting the will of the Tunisian people. — (Anadolu Agency)
