Liverpool music festival halted after Sting's support suffers 'cardiac arrest' live on stage

Sting said the musician is 'in his prayers' as he took to the stage for the final night of 2025 On The Waterfront festival. Sting's support group The Christians had a gig in Liverpool halted mid-performance when the drummer collapsed and suffered a 'cardiac arrest'. Garry Christian had been fronting the band at a gig when he stopped and called for medical help for his bandmate. A privacy screen was then erected on the stage, as emergency responders raced to the scene. ‌ The musician was then treated at the venue before being raced to hospital. A woman who is believed to be the band's manager, Emma Bridget, announced an emotional update to the shocked crowd. She said: 'We're really hoping he is going to make it. He didn't have a pulse, he's got one now, we think. Thank you so much." ‌ The band had been performing at Liverpool's Pier Head when the drama unfolded. Emma went on: 'I'm just so sorry because Garry loves Liverpool and he wanted to put on the show of his life and we're really devastated but thank you so much.' A message was then displayed to fans after the ordeal, which read: 'We appreciate your patience and understanding. Medical staff are with the performer, and we will provide an update as soon as we can.' The group had been performing at the final night of the 2025 On The Waterfront festival. Thousands of people flocked to the English city as a host of musicians appeared. The Mirror reports the crowd was at capacity and the venue was silent as events took place on stage. There are no further updates on the drummer's condition at the moment but Sting provided information when he took to the stage to close the festival tonight. He said: 'The drummer in the band before is OK. He's in hospital. All of us are praying he's going to be fine. Our thoughts are with him.' ‌ Sting is the headliner for the concert, making his long-awaited return to Liverpool as part of his STING 3.0 World Tour. The Christians, from Liverpool, had the highest selling debut album of any artist at Island Records and international chart hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s after forming in 1985. ‌ The Christians are made up of Garry Christian (lead vocals), Roger Christian (vocals and instrumentalist), Russell Christian (keyboards, saxophone, vocals), and Henry Priestman (keyboards, guitars, vocals). Priestman, although not a relative, shared the Christian name by coincidence. Early members also included Paul Barlow on drums, Mike Bulger on guitar and vocals, and Tony Jones on bass. Roger Christian stepped away from the group in 1987 and announced he didn't want to tour, focusing on a solo album instead. He passed away in 1998 after a battle with a brain tumour. In 1995, Garry Christian moved to Paris to record his own solo album, Your Cool Mystery, effectively breaking up the band, although no formal announcement was made. The group have since reformed and have been performing again.

Dua Lipa sizzles in a racy sheer dress as she puts on a VERY saucy display with fiancé Callum Turner while partying the night away following her showstopping Wembley gigs

Dua Lipa partied the night away with fiancé Callum Turner as she celebrated 'fulfilling her dreams' after performing two shows at Wembley Stadium this weekend. The hitmaker, 29, sizzled at the star-studded afterparty on Saturday in a racy sheer dress that showcased every inch her jaw-dropping figure as well as her skimpy lingerie. Callum, 35, who popped the question in December a year of dating, couldn't keep his hands off the stunner and cheekily squeezed her bottom as they hit the dance floor. Taking to Instagram Dua shares snaps from the bash as she enjoyed martinis and was joined by famous friends including Charli XCX, who was appeared with her on stage earlier in the evening, Lily Allen and Amelia Dimoldenberg. She captioned the post: 'Somehow managed to keep on dancing... adrenaline is one hell of a drug'. The Houidini singer thrilled the roaring crowd of 70,000 when she introduced the British pop sensation Charli, 32, as her special guest. The hitmaker sizzled at the star-studded afterparty in a racy sheer dress that showcased every inch her jaw-dropping figure as well as her skimpy lingerie She said: 'So this next song, I thought I'd bring a friend out. Let me tell you, she is the biggest brat. Give it up for Charli XCX!' The pair then tore into Charli's infectious hit 360, sending the energy through the roof as fans went wild for the unforgettable surprise duet. Throughout the night, Dua once again stunned in an array of dazzling outfits as she performed on the UK stage. Just the day before, she made an emotional arrival on stage as she broke down in tears while performing her first ever show at Wembley, thanking her fans for their support. Kicking off the first of her two nights at the venue, Dua then surprised her fans when she was joined by special guest Jamiroquai. Performing a number of her hits, she looked incredible in an embellished one-piece that she teamed with fishnet stockings. Dua completed her outfit with a pair of glittery knee-high heeled boots and a statement necklace, before also rocked a white lace jumpsuit for another bold look. She then slipped into a completely sheer blue gown with a thigh-high split, which she wore over matching underwear and teamed with stockings. The Be The One hitmaker added to her frame in chunky heels as she belted out her best-known hits, including One Kiss, Levitating, Training Season and Maria. She then brought out Jamiroquai, real name Jay Kay, as her surprise act of the evening as the 90s star, who is best known for hits Virtual Insanity and Cosmic Girl, joined her for one song. Bringing him out on stage, Dua gushed: 'This is someone who really inspired me when I first started out. 'Someone who I feel like is a massive trailblazer in music and has kind of paved the way.' She added: 'I feel so lucky to share this stage with the one of one, the only, give it up for Jamiroquai!' American singer Dove Cameron and English singer-songwriter Alessi Rose were the support acts took to the stage once again on the second night. Without missing her biggest hits, the British-Albanian songstress performed the likes of New Rules, Be The One and Barbie's Dance. Transforming the stadium into her own dance floor, Dua kicked off her concert with Training Season before pausing to say she was 'blown away,' and that it was 'surreal' to be performing at Wembley. She said: 'This is so surreal and so crazy. It means the absolute world to me that you are here tonight. 'It feels really really special to be here tonight. It is 10 years since our first ever London show to about 350 people and I just dreamt of a night like this where I get to be in front of 70,000 people.' After taking photos with the front row fans, Dua returned to the stage to perform These Walls before introducing the song that 'started everything'. She said: 'I want to take it back to the beginning a little bit. This song really kind of changed my life.' The singer added: 'This is the song that got me signed and it's the song that started everything and I feel like with weather like this, there is only one song that I could do. This is Hotter Than Hell.' Towards the end of the concert, Lipa returned to the hit songs that prompted her rise to fame, including 2016's Be The One, and her 2017 break-up anthem New Rules. A source told The Sun: 'Playing Wembley is a dream come true for Dua and to sell out both nights feels incredible. She's not even at the peak yet and has so much more she wants to achieve. 'To headlining stadiums with just three albums under her belt proves how influential her music has been. Her world tour has been a huge success. She's on cloud nine.' Dua was initially set to play just one show at the London venue on Friday 20 June 2025, as part of her Radical Optimism tour. No stranger to showing off her toned figure, Due slipped into a daring black leather corset and boots as she graced the Wembley stage for the second night in a row But due to the phenomenal demand, the pop star stayed in the English capital for a second night to put on another performance. Speaking in an interview with Vogue this month, Dua said: 'That's definitely been a massive dream, and it's going to be quite surreal. You know, stadiums: that seems pretty scary. 'Adrenaline is an incredible drug can hear people screaming before I'm even on.' She added: 'That's when my heart starts racing. Moments before, I'm like: 'Oh, my God, we're doing this.' And I'm ready to go.' Oasis fans offered tips to avoid travel chaos after gigs at Murrayfield Stadium

Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher will be at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on the Oasis Live '25 Tour, with fans of acts like Taylor Swift offering advice to concertgoers Fans of Oasis have been offered advice from supporters of acts like Taylor Swift and Robbie Williams ahead of the band's reunion tour. It comes ahead of Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher playing gigs at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. There's concern about getting home from the venue, which has a capacity of 67,000, in August. It comes following the experiences of Taylor's fans, who grappled with transport difficulties last June when the international singer dazzled crowds over three nights at the venue during her Era's Tour. ‌ Now, as the countdown to the Oasis gigs on August 8, 9 and 12 continues, fans of the band have been issued advice, as reported by the Daily Record. It includes them having been dissuaded from using Haymarket station – advice shared on a Reddit thread entitled: "People of Glasgow that are going to Oasis in Edinburgh, how are we getting home?'' ‌ The user sparked discussion about how people that live outside of Edinburgh are planning to get home. The post read: "As per title, are people chancing being able to get a train home? A coach? A million pound taxi? I'm really not sure of the best plan of action..." One Swiftie from Glasgow suggested: "Tip from when I was at Taylor Swift last year. Everyone will be trying to get a train from Haymarket, and it'll be f***ing mobbed." Advising instead: "Head to Waverly (either via tram or just walk) and get on the train there, it'll be significantly quieter, and you'll likely get a table seat as well, rather than being stuck standing." There's also been advice from someone who attended Robbie Williams' gig in Edinburgh, where he kicked off his BRIT POP world tour at the end of last month. Offering their advice, they said: "We were at Robbie Williams on Saturday and Citylink buses were pretty decent. "Drop you right outside the stadium and pick you up just a little bit further away be prepared for a bit of [a] wait though because it's busy. So the concert finished at 10:30 and we were on the bus by about 11:30." Get Oasis updates straight to your WhatsApp! As the hotly anticipated Oasis reunion tour grows closer, the Mirror has launched its very own Oasis WhatsApp community where you'll get all the latest news on the Gallagher brothers and all the information you'll need in the run up to the gigs. If you're curious, you can read our Privacy Notice. ‌ Another person chimed in to the discussion reassuring revellers about late-night transportation between cities: "The buses run 24 hours between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I don't think it will be that bad trying to get home via public transport." There was however a word of caution about high demand to book ahead from someone else. They wrote: "Make sure to book the [CityLink] 900 and AIR buses ahead of time, they fill up quickly." Another person suggested similarly, writing in part of their response: "Citylink run all night. Happy Bus run private coach transfers from Buchanan to the event and back." ‌ A different user offered a more unconventional tip for catching a quieter bus: "Head to a club till you're completely knackered then head for a bus (they run 24/7 as previously mentioned). By that time most folk will have f***ed off already." Oasis fans are buzzing with anticipation as the band is set to rock Murrayfield Stadium with three gigs this summer on August 8, 9 and 12. The much-awaited reunion tour marks the first time the Gallagher brothers will share the stage in 16 years, with the opening show set to take place in Cardiff on July 4.
