Sisters lead fight in H'bag, mobilise locals to clean reservoirs

Hazaribag: On July 16, 2023, Anjali Neeraj (28) and her sister Ruchi (24) formed Vasudha Kalyan Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at mobilising citizens to fight the growing plastic menace in Hazaribag.
Nearly two years later, the sisters have removed 50,000 kg plastic waste from different reservoirs of the city.
The sisters said their objective is to connect with the youth, educate them and raise awareness on a green mission which includes turning the city's tourist spots and reservoirs plastic free and initiating a plantation drive.
Anjali is a lecturer of English at Inter Science College, Jabra, whereas her sister Ruchi is pursuing a master's in Botany from St.
Xavier's College in Ranchi. "We began our initiative with seven volunteers in 2023, and the number has now reached 200. All of our volunteers are college students from Hazaribag and other neighbouring districts," they said.
"People pollute surroundings with plastic but hesitate to clean it. So, every Sunday, we hold drive to clean and collect plastic from water bodies, tourist spots. The majority waste we often find are plastic bottles, wrappers of different eatables, chips packets, and empty liquor bottles," Anjali said.
Through such campaigns, the waste collected is sold to kabadiwalas, and the amount generated is used for procurement of protective gears for volunteers during their drives. "Through this mission, we are trying to generate awareness regarding environmental changes and call for people's participation," she said, adding that slowly people of all age groups are slowly joining them in weekly drives.
Their first initiative was to clean Lara River, a popular tourist spot 20 km away from Hazaribag.
Then, the drive was held at Canary Hill, and so on.
A native of Bakagaon block and presently living in Baba Path mohalla of the city, Anjali said they have freed six places, including reservoirs, from plastic waste, including Chhath Talab, Hurhuru Talab, Budhwa Mahadev Talab, Hazaribag Jheel, Canary Hill, and Lara River. "We keep cleaning all these places again and again by including them in our list of Sunday campaigns," she added.
Last year, during World Environment Day, the United Nations Environment Program praised their work at a program in Ranchi by awarding a certificate of appreciation. Anjali said, "We are a youth-driven action team for the environment, which is essential for ecological balance, improves air quality, and promotes biodiversity."

LKG, UKG classes to commence in 120 anganwadis this year
Hubballi: In a move to strengthen early childhood education at govt-run anganwadi centres, the women and child welfare department will introduce LKG and UKG classes at 120 centres in the district starting this academic year. The education department has already initiated similar efforts in govt primary schools. In the district, PM SHRI schools that have started pre-KG are running at full strength. The classrooms for these children have been designed to be attractive and colourful. Deputy Director of the Women and Child Welfare Department, Dharwad, Huligemma Kukanur, said that there are 1,622 anganwadis functioning in the district. The department asked for a list of anganwadis to start pre-KG classes. Therefore, a list of 120 anganwadis has been sent to the govt for approval. Soon, after directions from the govt, the classes will start, she said. Shobha Karikatti, a contract teacher at PM SHRI School, Amargol, said that in UKG, 35 children and in LKG, 27 children were admitted, running at full strength. Teaching methods are different in private institutions. Activity-based education is our first priority. For that, we revised many toys, materials, flashcards, notes for teachers, etc. Pre-KG teachers will be trained at the District Institute of Education and Training every year. The English language is also included for children. For the intellectual and mental development of children, activity-based teaching is provided, she said.

SSC GD Constable Scorecard 2025 Released: Steps To Download, What's Next
Last Updated: SSC GD Constable Scorecard 2025: Candidates who participated in the recruitment exam can now view their scorecards by logging in with their credentials. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has published the SSC GD Constable Scorecard 2025 on its official website, Candidates who participated in the recruitment exam for Constable (General Duty) positions can now view their scorecards by logging in with their credentials. The examination took place from February 4 to 25. The provisional answer key was published on March 4, 2025, with a window to submit objections open until March 9. The final answer key was compiled after considering these objections. The results were announced on June 17 via a PDF listing the roll numbers of the selected candidates. The scorecard, released on June 20, provides details on candidates' performance in areas such as General Intelligence, General Knowledge, Mathematics, and English/Hindi. It includes raw and normalised marks, total correct and incorrect responses, and qualification status for the next stage. The scorecards will be accessible until July 4, 2025. Step 1 – Visit the official website of SSC at Step 2 – Go to the 'Result Section" on the homepage. Step 3 – Select the 'Constable-GD" tab. Step 5 – Download and save the merit list that opens in PDF format. The scorecard will include name of exam, candidate's name, roll number, exam date, marks scored, percentage, etc. In case of any error, one must report to the authorities immediately and get it rectified at the earliest. Candidates who have qualified the written exam will next have to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), followed by medical examination and document verification. SSC has updated the provisional vacancies for the Constable (GD) in CAPFs, SSF, Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles, and Sepoy in the NCB Examination, 2025. The recruitment drive now aims to fill a total of 53,690 positions. Previously, SSC had announced 39,481 vacancies for these roles in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the Secretariat Security Force (SSF), Rifleman (GD) in the Assam Rifles, and Sepoy in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). This number has now been increased.
