Interactive Screens Introduced in Grand Mosque to Enrich Hajj Experience for Women

The Women's Affairs Agency of the Presidency for Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has launched smart interactive screens within the women's prayer areas of the Grand Mosque. This initiative aims to enhance spiritual awareness and offer convenient access to religious knowledge through modern, user-friendly technology.
These interactive screens enable female worshippers and pilgrims to explore Islamic literature, access fatwas, and download religious content in 19 international languages—serving the diverse backgrounds of the Grand Mosque's visitors.
Dr. Aisha Al-Aqla, the undersecretary for Women's Affairs at the Grand Mosque, highlighted the agency's commitment to expanding smart services across all sectors. She noted ongoing efforts to increase the number of screens to create a more comprehensive religious and educational environment. Each screen currently provides access to over 62 digital Islamic book titles, contributing to a richer and more fulfilling spiritual journey for female visitors.

Among the key attractions is the Exhibition on the Architecture of the Prophet's Mosque, located in the southern square opposite exits 308 and 309. Open daily from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the exhibition highlights the architectural evolution of the mosque through interactive displays and modern presentation techniques. Nearby, the International Exhibition of the Prophet's Biography, situated in front of exits 306 and 307, operates from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The exhibition offers visitors a contemporary, immersive experience into the life and character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), presenting his values and message through multimedia Facility 204 in the southern square, the Rare Manuscripts Exhibition welcomes guests from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 features a remarkable collection of historical manuscripts, documents, and inscriptions that chronicle the development of Islamic calligraphy and literature across the Prophet's Mosque Library, located near Gate 10 on the western side, provides around-the-clock services to comprises several specialized sections, including rare books, manuscripts, an audio library, and various technical Rare Books and Manuscripts Section, situated inside the mosque near the Uthman Gate, is a key destination for scholars and houses more than 4,000 original manuscripts, around 60,000 digital manuscripts, 4,600 imaged manuscripts, as well as 250 handwritten Qur'ans and 200 printed Qur' section operates in two shifts: from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Canopies at Prophet's Mosque Provide Safety, Comfort for Worshippers

The canopies surrounding the Prophet's Mosque play a vital role in enhancing the comfort and safety of worshippers and visitors. Designed to shield them from intense sunlight and fluctuating weather—especially during peak Hajj and Umrah seasons—these structures create a serene and protected environment for prayer and reflection. Constructed to the highest structural and engineering standards, the canopies are built to withstand wind, fire, and rain. Their sand-colored fabric allows natural light to filter through while preserving the distinct artistic patterns that adorn each canopy. The project features 250 retractable canopies, each spanning 25.5 meters per side and rising approximately 22 meters high, with an individual weight of around 40 tons. They are equipped with automated systems that open at sunrise and close before sunset. Each canopy consists of two interlocking segments that fold seamlessly when retracted. Crafted from fiberglass-reinforced carbon fiber and embellished with mosaic designs and gold-plated copper, the canopies reflect a blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal. The sophisticated design includes an internal operating cylinder, eight structural supports, and a series of internal, central, and diagonal arms. To enhance comfort further, 436 mist fans are installed around the canopies to cool the surrounding air, complemented by more than 1,000 integrated lighting units. Together, these features help maintain a moderate climate and create a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Each canopy can shelter over 900 worshippers, collectively accommodating more than 228,000 people during peak periods. Over 3 million people benefit from Islamic Affairs Ministry's services during 2025 Hajj season

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Over three million people have benefited from the services of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance in Makkah, Madinah, the holy sites, and border entry points across various regions of Saudi Arabia during the 2025 Hajj season. This comes as part of an operational plan aimed at promoting religious awareness and facilitating the performance of rituals in accordance with the principles of moderation and balance. The ministry's key initiatives included supplying over 1.6 million liters of water at Namirah Mosque in Arafat. It conducted 125,000 awareness activities in Makkah and Madinah, with 1,700 scholars and preachers providing direct religious guidance. Over 1.4 million educational materials, including books, brochures, and digital cards explaining ritual rulings, were distributed. Additionally, nearly 100 million multilingual awareness text messages were sent to pilgrims in various locations. Through its digital platforms, the ministry broadcast 43 educational video episodes on its official YouTube channel. Its toll-free Islamic awareness hotline received over 500,000 calls, and four million video messages in multiple languages were displayed on 340 digital screens in Miqat mosques and hotel prayer areas near the Grand Mosque. Additionally, over 25,000 volunteers participated across various regions of the Kingdom, contributing more than 124,000 volunteer hours through opportunities provided by the ministry to serve pilgrims. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Gift of copies of the Holy Qur'an was distributed among departing pilgrims at various border crossings.
