Love Island's Jacques O'Neill posts snap from hospital amid worrying 'setback'

Daily Mirror3 hours ago

Jacques O'Neill has opened up from a hospital bed and said he found himself in a 'dark place' after Love Island but that 'every setback' has taught him 'something valuable'
Gemma Owen's ex Jacques O'Neill has opened up about his dream of being back in the rugby league while he was sitting in a hospital bed, three years after he followed Gemma into the Love Island villa. Jacques told his followers that, after going on Love Island, he found himself in a 'dark place' but that 'every setback' has taught him 'something valuable'.
Jacques shared a photo of himself from the hospital bed with a smile on his face and his thumb up. He reflected on his life in a lengthy caption, as he wrote: "Operation done.. Just as I was starting to get my confidence back and enjoy rugby league again, it's taken away, but that's life."

The former Love Island star admitted that he has been 'stupidly' chasing a life that wasn't the right fit for him, but that he is getting back on track.

Jacques said: "Four years I stupidly had out the game, being an idiot chasing a life that wasn't for me. The result of that was that I ended up in a pretty dark place and losing myself.'
The 26-year-old continued: "I was putting off returning to play because of the comments from others saying I had no chance to play again, saying \he's had too long out' etc, comments about where I was at mentally & physically.
"The truth is, I doubted myself too. At first I didn't think I would have ever been able to play again the state I got myself in to.
"I remember the first couple of months back driving home from training questioning myself if I still had it in me or not but as soon as I got a good team behind me, got rid of all distractions my mindset started to change.'
He continued: "Even though my first season back hasn't gone to plan, I'm grateful for the life lessons I've had the last few years. Every setback has taught me something valuable. It's built me up. Not just as a player, but as a person. I'll be back hungrier than ever."

Although Jacques entered the villa after his ex-girlfriend Gemma Owen, the pair had no desire to rekindle their romance, and Jacques coupled up with Paige Thorne. Jacques then decided to call it quits on the villa life after Paige started getting to know bombshell Adam Collard.
It was an emotional goodbye, and the islanders were sad to see him go, even Luca Bish, who was coupled up with Gemma at the time.
Jacques, who boasts 1.1 million followers on Instagram, regularly keeps his followers up to date on what he is up to, including going on holiday, nights out and workouts.

Kelsey Parker announces her baby has died

Parker revealed she was expecting her third child in January, and on Sunday shared an Instagram post with the news that her son was 'born sleeping'. She lost her husband, The Wanted star Tom Parker, in 2022 after he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, and the baby was her first with her new partner Will Lindsay. Parker, who is mother to Aurelia, five, and Bodhi, four, with the late singer, shared a poem on Instagram about the boy she was expecting, whom she and Lindsay had named Phoenix. 'For Phoenix, Born Sleeping, Forever Loved,' the poem began, with a caption: 'Phoenix Parker-Lindsay, you will forever be loved.' A post shared by Kelsey Parker (@being_kelsey) After sharing the post, Parker also put up an Instagram story which read: 'Before I receive an influx of lovely messages and heart-felt well wishes, I want to just say that I truly appreciate everything you are all going to say and share. 'But with the news being so raw, I would really like to ensure that we as a family are given space and time to process this devastating and earth-shattering news. 'I love you all and thank you for your understanding and space. 'Love always, Kelsey, Will and The Parker Family.' Parker has previously spoken candidly about how trolls have made her feel guilty for having a new partner. She said in March: 'I'm always going to have guilt but what's so hard is that Tom's not here any more, so what do people want me to do? 'Our house was full of so much sadness but now it's full of happiness, the kids deserve that more than anything.' Following her husband's death, Parker has raised money for a brain tumour charity by organising annual charity football matches in his memory. The 34-year-old hosts a podcast with model Georgia Jones called Mum's the Word! where the pair share parenting advice with celebrity guests.
