Kneecap will still headline 2000trees despite recent controversy

Perth Now29-05-2025

Kneecap will still headline 2000trees as planned.
The Irish rap group have come under fire in recent weeks after a string of controversies, but the annual festival in Cheltenham, UK have confirmed they will remain co-headliners with PVRIS on the second day of the July 9-12 event.
In a post on Instagram, they wrote: "After loads of speculation and numerous requests from the press of late, we are happy to confirm that YES! Kneecap are still headlining the Thursday at 2000trees this July.
'If their recent shows in London are anything to go by, this promises to be one of the most memorable headline sets we've ever had at 2000trees.
'Do not miss it – Glasto is obviously sold out we're not far behind – so if you want to see the most talked about band in ages, you need to bag a 2000trees ticket before they all sell out!"
Other headliners set across the four-day event include Hot Milk, Taking Back Sunday, Coheed and Cambria, and Alexisonfire.
Kneecap - made up of Mo Chara, Moglai Bap and DJ Provai - are no strangers to 2000trees, but organisers have promised "something else entirely" for their headline set.
They continued: "You may have even seen Kneecap at 2000trees before, this will be their 3rd visit after all.
"But headlining the main stage this summer is going to be something else entirely!
"We will ALL be there in the pit with you for one of the most exciting, fun and historic sets you'll see this summer."
Earlier on Wednesday (28.05.25), it was confirmed that Kneecap's TRNSMT performance the same week as 2000trees has been cancelled.
A festival spokesperson told NME: "Due to concerns expressed by the Police about safety at the event, Kneecap will no longer perform at TRNSMT on Friday July 11. We thank fans for their understanding.'
Last week, the trio headline London's Wide Awake Festival - which followed a warm-up show at the 100 Club - and both events happened without any safety issues.
Last week, Mo Chara - real name Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh - was charged with a terror offense in the UK, as London's Metropolitan Police accused him of "displaying a flag in support of proscribed organisation Hezbollah" at O2 Forum gig in London in November 2024.
Following the investigation, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised the charge, with both Hamas and Hezbollah banned in the UK, while it is a crime to express support for either of them.
The group insisted they have never support either organisation.
They also claimed another video - in which they allegedly told a London crowd "The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP" - was taken "out of context".

Delta Goodrem ties the knot with fiancé Matthew Copley in star-studded Maltese wedding

Delta Goodrem has tied the knot with her partner of six years, Matthew Copley, in a star-studded wedding on the island nation of Malta. The Australian singer and actress, 40, and Matthew, 38, who is a guitarist, said "I do" in picturesque Europe last Monday, according to New Idea. The high-profile couple's celebrity pals, including entertainer Renee Bargh, TV presenter Richard Wilkins and his son Christian, as well as Delta's mother, Lea, and brother, Trent, joined them at the celebration. The magical location where the nuptials occurred is significant to the couple, as it's where Matthew first got down on one knee two years ago. The Born to Try hitmaker once addressed the location's significance by claiming, 'My partner's family is all from Malta'. After the wedding, photos obtained by New Idea show the couple continued to celebrate with family and friends at a seaside beach club. Delta, with her sandy blonde hair styled in loose waves, beamed as she flashed her signature smile and wedding band while embracing guests. She then slipped into a more comfortable electric blue swimsuit, which she accessorised with a white and black sarong and gold jewellery. Delta took a dip in the Mediterranean waters while at the afterparty, no doubt revelling in the joy of being a newly married couple with Copley. The bride and groom are understood to now be continuing their celebration with a romantic honeymoon through Europe. The musicians are likely to still find the time to make music together throughout their travels, which Delta once said bound them together. 'It's a love language for us,' Delta told Stellar in May. 'Music is how we met; it's what we both do. "I have an amazing partner, and we live a good life, and we get to tour the world doing what we love.' Speculation is rife Delta and Matthew got legally married in Australia some weeks ago after she was spotted with a wedding band on her ring finger during a performance in London in May. If the rumours are true, the newlyweds have been officially married for a month but decided to celebrate with their loved ones in Malta on Monday. Delta has been officiating her wedding plans for a while now and kicked things off with a hen's party in Sydney's Palm Beach in April. The singer boarded a luxury yacht in the suburb on the city's Northern Beaches, where she was joined by her close friends, including former Nine presenter Airlie Walsh and Renee Bargh. Delta and Matthew, who are based in Los Angeles, are believed to have met through their mutual friend, fellow Aussie singer Conrad Sewell. In 2023, the couple launched their own record label, ATLED Records. Delta was previously engaged to Irish singer Brian McFadden and has been romantically linked to both Mark Philippoussis and Nick Jonas. The Sydney-born performer has previously said she values deep, lasting relationships, and she and Matthew effortlessly intertwine this into their lives. "I'm somebody who loves to go deeper," Delta told HELLO! magazine in 2020. "I'm all about long-term friendships and relationships, and I love those people with all my heart. "When Matt and I work together, it's really easy to go straight to the core of our feelings because we're living and breathing life together all the time. "It's wonderful to work with him."

Kneecap's Mo Chara placed on unconditional bail as hundreds support star at court

Kneecap's Mo Chara has been unconditionally bailed after facing a terror charge. After being greeted by hundreds of supporters outside Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (18.06.25), the court heard that the issue was with the member of the Irish rap trio - whose real name is Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh - "displaying a flag in support of proscribed organisation Hezbollah" at their O2 Forum Kentish Town gig in London in November 2024, not voicing his opinions on Israel and Palestine, which he's "well within his rights" to do. Prosecutor Michael Bisgrove told the court: 'It's not about Mr Ó hAnnaidh's support for the people of Palestine or his criticism of Israel. 'He's well within his rights to voice his opinions and solidarity, as is anybody else. 'The allegation in this case is a wholly different thing and deals with a video recording showing that, in November of last year, Mr Ó hAnnaidh wore and displayed the flag of Hezbollah, a proscribed terrorist organisation, while saying 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah'. 'Of course, support for the one is not the same as support for the other. 'So the issue in this case, and the reason it has come to court, it centres on the apparent support by Mr O hAnnaidh of a proscribed terrorist organisation.' Ó hAnnaidh was subsequently released on unconditional bail until his next hearing on August 20. Not only was he supported by his bandmates - Naoise Ó Cairealláin and JJ Ó Dochartaigh - at the court, but hundreds of supporters turned up to stand in solidarity with the star, with calls of "Free Palestine" heard as he left the building. In a statement on Instagram regarding the terror charge, Kneecap wrote: "We deny this 'offense' and will vehemently defend ourselves. 'This is political policing. This is a carnival of distraction. "14,000 babies are about to die of starvation in Gaza, with food sent by the world sitting on the other side of a wall, and once again the British establishment is focused on us. 'We are on the right side of history. You are not. We will fight you in court. We will win.' Kneecap had shows cancelled as a result of the backlash but are still set to play Glastonbury's West Holts stage at Worthy Farm on Saturday, June 28 at 4pm - despite calls from MPs for them to be banned.

Oasis to open merchandise stores across UK and Ireland to mark reunion tour

Oasis are set to open a number of pop-up stores in the UK and Ireland this summer for their reunion tour. The first store will open in the Wonderwall band's home city of Manchester on June 20 and will remain accessible to fans until July 27. Other stores will be located in Cardiff, London, Edinburgh, Dublin and Birmingham and are to launch the merchandise collection for the eagerly-anticipated Oasis Live '25 Tour, which begins at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on July 4 and marks the first time that brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher will have performed together for 16 years. The collection will be made available to purchase online and further details on individual items and specific store locations will be revealed later this week. The merchandise will feature specific brand collaborations and limited edition products that will not be available anywhere else. Noel and Liam have ended their lengthy feud to get the Britpop icons back together and the former's close friend – U2 frontman Bono – claims that the musician has been left "shocked by how great" Oasis are sounding in rehearsals. The Irish rocker told Apple Music 1 with Zane Lowe: "They're both funny. I'm still very close with Noel, and he sent a message to me saying he's kind of shocked by how great the band is [sounding at rehearsals]. I think we're going to have a good summer." Bono added of Oasis: "I love them. I just love them. And what I really love is, the preciousness that had gotten [into] indie music, they just blew it out. There was just the swagger, and the sound of getting out of the ghetto, not glamorising it." The 65-year-old star revealed that he will be going to watch the Supersonic hitmakers on the tour. Asked if he would be in attendance, Bono said: "Of course! And remember what they did as well. Those kind of big guitars, big Neil Young generous sounds. "They were against the law in the UK, and they're like, 'No, I have to do what I f****** want. And then they had this kind of rhythmic, beautiful quality. "'Today is gonna be the day...' So that's a kind of, that's an almost R and B rhythm. "But Manchester was very influenced by dance music, so they were groovier than anybody. They were rawer than anybody."
