Nagpur: In a major boost for road connectivity to Nashik for Kumbh Mela 2027, Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Sunday approved upgradation, along with construction in some patches, of up to eight highways leading to the city. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting support for upgrading the road infrastructure so that Maharashtra is prepared to handle the influx of visitors to Nashik. After a meeting with Gadkari in Nagpur, Fadnavis also informed reporters that projects related to the Nashik Ring Road as well as Dwarka Circle were discussed.
