Humberside Police officer 'honoured' to receive bravery award
Police officer Daniel Boothby said he felt "very proud and honoured" after winning the overall Humberside Police & Federation Bravery Award. PC Boothby, 24, saved a woman in distress from a cliff at Flamborough in May 2024, endangering himself and risking his life to do so, the federation said. He is now set to represent Humberside at the National Police Bravery Awards in London in July. "I felt like I was just doing my job, you're doing what any one else would do in that situation but everyone has been very supportive," he said.
PC Boothby has been working as a serving police officer for the last three years. He said he always wanted to work in a job that "helps people" and he enjoyed "working for his community, as cliche as that sounds." The annual Police Bravery Awards, organised by the Police Federation of England and Wales, honour "some of the finest officers" who have performed acts of bravery, while on or off duty.PC Boothby said the incident was: "One of those moments where you stop with your policing head and think actually there's a human being in front of me. You have to live with that for the rest of your life." He said his first thought was: "I hope my mum doesn't find out what I'm about to do, but it was just a natural split second decision." PC Boothby said he struggled to sleep for a while after the incident. However, he added: "I would have done the exact same thing again. Anyone in this job would have done the exact same." PC Boothby said he was "excited and nervous" about the national awards ceremony and was looking foward to representing the Humber region.

"He was increasingly concerned that his money had not been used to purchase a bag but had, in fact, gone to the defendant funding his lifestyle."Jurors were also told the defendant had approached businesswoman Christine Colbert in resold designer bags and clothing through her shop in Prestbury called Dress Watkin allegedly told her his name was Jack prosecution said Ms Colbert loaned him a total of £91,000 between July 2021 and November this, the court heard he only repaid £47, Watkin is also alleged to have stolen a blue Hermes bag valued at £21,000 and a Goyard bag worth £8,000 from Ms Colbert.
