Taiwanese actress Esther Liu is married and expecting her first child.
The 36-year-old, who is known for her performances in Taiwanese idol dramas including Westside Story (2003) and Green Forest, My Heart (2005), announced the good news in her social media accounts today (June 9).
She wrote: "Thank you Simon Lian, thank you to our child. Thank you to the world for bestowing me with the ordinary and the extraordinary. Please give us your blessing, thank you."
Esther, who was a member of the now-defunct Taiwanese girl group Sweety with Joanne Tseng, also posted multiple wedding photos taken with Simon, 33, who is an actor and former member of Taiwanese boy band SpeXial. View this post on Instagram

Simon also made an Instagram post today with the caption believed to be dedicated to Esther: "Thank you for using your laughter, which could be heard from 1km away, to capture this introvert. I also believe that our baby will be just like you, whose laughter can make the world more beautiful (and also a foodie).
"I will use all my love to love you and our baby. We will be very blissful and sincerely wish to share this joy with everyone. Thank you." View this post on Instagram

Esther's celebrity friends including Joanne, Cheryl Yang, Ruby Lin, Vivian Hsu, Joe Chen and Leon Jay Williams congratulated her in the comments section of her post.
Joanne, who welcomed her first child with husband, ex-Fahrenheit member Calvin Chen, earlier this year, wrote: "Full of blessings. Take good care of your body, don't be too hard on yourself."
"I am so happy for you. You must be blissful," Ruby wrote.
Esther and Simon first worked together in 2022 for Taiwanese singer Princess Ai's music video Unwanted Song. Last year, they acted in an upcoming drama The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, playing childhood sweethearts.
According to Taiwanese media, the pair had started dating after Simon pursued her during the drama's post-production stage.
Simon told reporters that Esther puts up a strong front but as he got to know her better, he found her softer side which made him unconsciously want to protect her. He also shared that they could talk on many topics.
Esther shared that she was attracted to Simon's looks at first, but as they got to know each other better, she discovered he's not afraid to show his vulnerability.
She added that while she had decided he's a lifelong partner when they first dated, it was only when she suffered a leg injury earlier this year and saw how Simon cared for her meticulously, that she felt he's someone she could fully trust and rely on.

BTS member Suga discharged from South Korean military service

K-pop group BTS member Suga finished his military tenure as a social service agent on June 21. PHOTO: AGUSTD/INSTAGRAM SEOUL - K-pop group BTS member Suga was discharged from the South Korean military on June 21 , the seventh and final member to complete the country's mandatory national service amid expectations of the band's comeback from a hiatus. Suga finished his military tenure as a social service agent on June 21 with little fanfare as fans looked forward to his reunion with the rest of the band, a K-pop sensation since it started up in 2013. 'We confirm that Suga effectively completed his alternative service on June 18 by using his remaining leave. His official discharge date is June 21,' BTS' label, Big Hit Music, said in a statement. Unlike with his BTS bandmates, there was no public event planned to mark Suga's release because of overcrowding concerns. The seven members of the group put their global music careers on hold in 2022 to begin their military service, starting with Jin in December that year. South Korea's mandatory national service can be for terms of up to 18 months. Shortly after his official discharge, Suga posted a message on fan community platform Weverse, saying he was 'sorry for the disappointment and concern caused by what happened last year', and also apologising to his bandmates. In 2024, Suga was fined 15 million won (S$14,037) by a court for drunk driving while on an electric scooter. The group is expected to hold its largest-ever world tour in 2026, an NH Securities entertainment analyst said in a report. Entertainment group HYBE, which manages BTS, is closely monitored by securities companies. Details of a reunion have not been released. Sinner and singer Bocelli strike up partnership for new single

Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn Images/File Photo REUTERS Sinner and singer Bocelli strike up partnership for new single World number one Jannik Sinner has formed a new doubles partnership but the duo will be battling for chart success rather than Grand Slam titles after the Italian released a single with compatriot and opera tenor Andrea Bocelli on Friday. The three-time Grand Slam champion Sinner promoted the song titled 'Polvere e Gloria' or 'Dust and Glory' on Instagram. The video features footage from the pair's childhoods and more recent clips of the singer and Sinner, clutching a racket and tennis ball, in front of a piano in Bocelli's home in Tuscany. Sinner's speeches form part of the song, which is in Italian and English, with Bocelli in full flow. "Every life is a potential work of art: each of us bears the sweet responsibility of nurturing our talents in the daily acrobatics of living, pursuing our dreams while remaining steadfastly true to our values," the pair wrote on Instagram. "This duet is such a bold leap that it has ignited our passion, born of shared and unwavering desire to express our deep belief that nothing is impossible." Sinner, the U.S. Open and Australian Open champion, said he was honoured to be part of the project with Bocelli, describing the singer as a "unique and extraordinary voice" and "a flag for our country in the rest of the world". "I could never have imagined hearing my voice in one of his songs. It's extremely moving," the 23-year-old added. Sinner, who was beaten by Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in an epic French Open final earlier this month, lost in the last 16 of the Halle Open on Thursday in a blow to his preparations for Wimbledon which gets underway on June 30.
