Mission Impossible 8 India Day 8 Box Office: Tom Cruise starrer adds Rs 4 crore to total

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, the much-hyped eighth and final installment in the long-running spy action franchise, continues its box office run with steady but unspectacular numbers. After a moderate first week total of Rs 51.50 crore in India, the film added Rs 3.25 crore on day 7 and Rs 4.00 crore on day 8 (second Saturday), showing a respectable bump from the previous day but still falling short of expectations for a franchise finale of this scale.
Here's a breakdown of the film's India box office performance:
Despite carrying the weight of being the decade-spanning franchise's finale and featuring Tom Cruise in what many believed would be a climactic farewell, The Final Reckoning has performed without the fireworks expected from a tentpole of this stature. With a staggering budget reportedly between USD 300–400 million, international returns will definitely be closely monitored by Paramount, and the studio sadly won't have much to see from the Indian market.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote the screenplay with Erik Jendresen, the film sees Cruise return as Ethan Hunt alongside franchise veterans Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett.
The production faced several hurdles, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the SAG-AFTRA strike, which halted filming for months. Originally planned as Dead Reckoning Part Two, the film eventually received a new title and identity to mark its standalone significance.
Shot across stunning global locations like the UK, Norway, Malta, and South Africa, the film had its world premiere in Tokyo on May 5, followed by a screening out of competition at Cannes on May 14. It was released theatrically in the US on May 23, a week after its India debut on May 17, to largely critical reviews praising its action choreography, Cruise's commitment to the project, and the emotional beats elevating the stakes.
MI8's India distributors, Viacom18, would hope the buzz in the West filters into India after its release there, encouraging the masses to start showing up in theaters in large numbers soon to turn the film's local fate.

Cannes was pleasant for India this year

The Indian contingent wrapped up its Cannes Lions run with a flourish, as BBDO India picked up a Silver Lion in the Sustainable Development Goals sub-category for Ariel's 'Share The Load' campaign on the final day. The recognition, which falls under the larger 'Long-Term Brand Platforms' category, is for the agency's long-running campaign created for P&G, advocating for the equal sharing of household chores. "We are honoured and thrilled. What a journey it has been-10 years of belief, commitment, and brand action for meaningful change. This award is a testament to the power of acts, not ads, in creating a better world," said Josy Paul, chairman and CCO, BBDO India. The win brought India's overall medal count to 32, underscoring a year of creative impact on the world stage. FCB India's 'Lucky Yatra' campaign for Indian Railways turned out to be India's most awarded campaign, with 9 metals across categories, including a Grand Prix. Ogilvy India followed with seven metals across campaigns made for Titan, Mondelez Cadbury's 5-Star, Amazon and Vi. Live Events Conversation Shift Two years ago, the Cannes Lions stage was dominated by dialogue around artificial intelligence (AI) and cutting-edge tech. This year, there's a focus on the 'human' factor, marking a shift - either due to a better understanding of AI or a reflection of the fear it evokes, says Kawal Shoor, co-founder of independent agency The Womb. The agency also earned a rare shortlist spot in the Film Lions category for its 'We Broke the Jinx. We Won the World Cup' campaign created for Jim Jam Pops. Shoor noted duality at play. "One track continues to celebrate the 'idea'- both spectacular and dubious, but another narrative is emerging through impact-led conversations that question the effectiveness of the previous year's winning ideas," he adds. For Abhik Santara, founder of Atom network Cannes has always been a place of contradictions. "Remarks by industry heavyweights like David Droga, Cindy Gallop and others cast a critical eye on the direction of the creative industry, with a future increasingly shaped by platforms. On the other hand, there are some great wins by India which have happened on the back of strong cultural and creative interventions," he said. Incidentally, there was an 18% increase in the participation of independent agencies this year at the festival compared to the previous year (total submissions at 26,900).

US Man Pays Rs 80,000 For Disneyland "Princess Breakfast", Internet Stunned

A man recently shared his utter shock over the exorbitant bill he received after attending Disneyland's Princess Breakfast Adventures in California, US. Taking to X, John Tolkien shared a photo of his receipt from his family's breakfast. The bill showed an eye-watering sum of $937.65 (approximately Rs 80,000), which included a $150 tip. "Princess Breakfast' at Disneyland with my kids. Almost spit out my coffee," he captioned the post. Elsewhere in the thread, he clarified that the breakfast was for five people. He also claimed that he hadn't looked at the $142 (around Rs 12,000) price tag per person before booking. "Before seeing the bill I thought it would be about half this," Mr Tolkien wrote, noting that the total included the five members of his family, plus a single alcoholic beverage. 'Princess Breakfast' at Disneyland with my kids. Almost spit out my coffee — John 'Rock & Roll' Tolkien (@jrockandrollt) June 16, 2025 According to The Independent, the Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures, which is held at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, features three courses, including an appetiser tower of mini lobster rolls and various breads, an array of main courses for adults to choose from, and princess-inspired desserts. Children can also choose chicken and Mickey waffles, or macaroni and cheese with bacon for their main course. The price of the meal starts at $142 for adults and children ages 3 to 9, per the site, and top and tax is not included. Sharing his experience, Mr Tolkien said, "It was fun, the food was probably 7 / 10, service was attentive and enthusiastic, princesses were all trained pro actresses and spent a lot of time with the kids. I enjoyed it." he also shared a photo of his plate, admitting that the "breakfast was good". "Kids enjoyed it, so I think it was worth it. The kids definitely learned some new words when I opened the bill though.," he continued. Mr Tolkien's post quickly caught the internet's attention, with social media users sharing various reactions. Several users believed that the outrage was misplaced, as the prices are disclosed during bookings. Others took issue with the $150 tip, saying that the tipping norms have become excessive. "They are pretty clear at the Grand California about the cost of that per guest and it takes months to get a reservation," wrote one user. "Bro they tell you the price when you book, if you're surprised that's on you," commented another. "I got a 155 dollar tip on Sunday and I still think tips should scale down slightly as the bill gets higher. At some point you're paying too much money for the service when the service isn't any different than if you had a 300 dollar meal," wrote a third user. "Would've been less had you not tipped 21ish percent. Especially since those people aren't normal wiaters and waitresses I can assume they aren't making minimum wage at a Disney restaurant," said another.
