'Top professional' Fulton pens Hearts contract extension

BBC News4 days ago

Ryan Fulton's contract extension gives Hearts "strength and stability" in the goalkeeping department, says head coach Derek McInnes. The 29-year-old, who arrived at Tynecastle last summer from Hamilton, has penned a new deal that runs until the summer of 2027.Fulton, who played three times last term, will continue to provide competition for the number one spot with Craig Gordon and Zander Clark."It's so important to have strong goalkeeping options to choose from," Hearts boss McInnes said. "With Ryan committing his future to the club, we have that that strength and stability. "I know from speaking to [goalkeeper coach] Paul Gallacher that Ryan is a top professional who gives his all in training and pushes his team-mates to be better."Ryan had to be patient last season, but I think everybody saw, when he was called into action, that he is a quality goalkeeper and we're fortunate to have him."

'Don't think Aberdeen could've had a harder first three'

We asked for your views on Aberdeen's Scottish Premiership fixtures and how they will be faring after 10 what some of you said:Anthony: A tough opening couple of weeks, hopefully we do well enough that we don't take a psychological hit, but the fixtures in September look much more winnable. The huge factor that makes it difficult is the European league phase. Doesn't matter which competition we end up in, teams of our size always struggle adapting to midweek European matches. The fans will have to be patient, I reckon, which has never been the Red Army's strong As much as I wish Derek [McInnes] well, I hope we give him a rude awakening in his first league fixture at Hearts. It's a tough start to the season, especially considering the European challenge, but bring it on. If we want European football money, we need to be able to balance the requirements. Beat Hearts, draw with Celtic, beat Dundee United and I think we have a good domestic start on our Some tricky away games, and some even trickier home matches in the opening 10. However, ever the optimist, I'm expecting a lightning start to the season again this year and for the Dandies to be in the top two - hopefully!Eric: I don't think we could have had a harder first games to start, and certainly can't afford to lose all three. The next three are better, but we have to end up no worse than fourth overall, otherwise that is a disaster. With the first two places inevitable, our battle must be third/fourth with a target of 60 Well that's a good question and, given last year's shenanigans, completely unanswerable. However, I'll have a go at 17 points after 10 games: five wins, two draws and three defeats.

'First Old Firm could be defining moment in Martin's reign'

We asked for your views on Rangers' Scottish Premiership fixtures and how they will be faring after 10 what some of you said:Brian: This is the great unknown going into first 10 games under a new manager that most of us are unsure about - I am anxious and not overly confident. It could be exhilarating and the start of a new era of success or it could become toxic ending in a total meltdown. Loyalty to the club says sitting on top on maximum points with a goal difference that speaks volumes of a team totally dominating Scottish If the recruitment is right and Russell Martin instils a sense of belief and resolve into his team, then I fervently hope Rangers are on top after 10 games and creating headlines with scintillating football - the first Old Firm could be the acid test and a defining moment in Martin's stint as The manager's tactics and mentality will take up to the first 10 games for the team to be fully embracing the high press he wants, so for me if we are in second place but easily within touching distance of the league leaders I'll be happy. It's a long season with many twists and turns I think there is so much apprehension regarding the new management team and the squad, however I'm really excited about the league (not so much about the Euro tie), but following the opening 10 I anticipate a 100% return and being five points clear of Hibs in second...

We asked for your views on Celtic's Scottish Premiership fixtures and how they will be faring after 10 what some of you said:Rob: Top of the league, After the opening 10 games, there will be at least a six or seven-point gap. We will be firmly in control and ready to make an impact on the big stage. Celtic will be a true force next It's key we get off to a good start, we face four of last season's top six in the first six games. Away to Rangers on 31 August (currently), that will be the big one considering our recent Old Firm record.
