
PD Act slapped on red sanders smuggler from Tamil Nadu
The Tirupati district administration slapped the Preventive Detention Act (PD Act) on red sanders smuggler Ajith alias Ajith Babu (22) of Tamil Nadu.
The Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF), headed by L. Subbarayudu, has been fighting to prevent smugglers from entering the Seshachalam forest, and the sleuths led by the Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Srinivas are determined on tightening the noose against the proclaimed offenders and getting the cases to a logical end.
Ajith was found to be involved in several instances of smuggling and his name mentioned in more than 10 cases pertaining to violation of the Wildlife Act. Based on the recommendation made by RSASTF, Collector S. Venkateswar issued orders to nab him. Following the arrest, Ajith was immediately shifted to Kadapa Central Prison.

Man with over 30 cases among three arrested for chain snatching
Three habitual offenders involved in the theft of a gold chain from a public bus passenger were arrested by the Tolichowki police on Monday (June 16). The arrested individuals were identified as Bandari Keshav alias Chinna, Kamble Shyam Sunder alias Sreenu, and Upade Suraj, all residents of Mangar Basti in Asif Nagar. Two other suspects, Vamshi and Vamshi Vardhan from Seetharam Bagh, remain at large. The arrest follows a complaint by Ganipineni Babu citing that his gold chain, weighing approximately 1.4 tolas and valued at ₹1.5 lakh, was stolen while travelling on a TGSRTC bus on June 14. Of the three arrested, both Keshav and Sunder have long-standing criminal histories. Keshav is wanted in at least seven theft and dacoity cases across Hyderabad and Narayanpet, including cases registered in Narayanaguda, Malakpet, Langer Houz, Banjara Hills, Ghatkesar, and Habeeb Nagar. Shyam Sunder also has a prolific criminal record with over 30 previous cases registered against him, including multiple charges under the Prevention of Dangerous Activities (PD Act). His past offences span a decade .

Red sander logs worth Rs 40L seized, five held
Tirupati: The RSASTF (Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force) on Friday seized 34 red sanders logs and two motorcycles in Palakondalu reserve forest area of Kadapa district. On the directions of Task Force head L Subbarayudu and under the supervision of Task Force SP P Srinivas and instructions of DSP Bali Reddy Task Force team of RI Krupanand, RSI Ali Basha team took up combing near the Annasamudram forest area. When the Police team reached the Palakondalu forest section they identified suspiciously some people. On seeing the task force team, they tried to escape but police personnel had nabbed them. In the subsequent search of near places task force personnel identified 34 red sanders logs worth Rs 40 lakhs and two motorcycles. The arrested are from Annamaiah and Kadapa districts. A case has been registered by SI Rafi and investigation is on.

PD Act will be invoked against encroachers, warns Surekha
HYDERABAD: Endowments Minister Konda Surekha on Thursday warned that the Preventive Detention Act (PD Act) will be invoked against those who encroach upon land belonging to temples and the Endowments department. The minister, on the request of local leaders, inspected the allegedly encroached lands in Chengicherla in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Later speaking to reporters, the minister said that a total of 30.23 acres in three survey numbers in Chengicherla belonging to the Endowments department and a few individuals have been occupied since 2022. 'After conducting a survey, the authorities confirmed that this land belongs to the Endowments department. We have ordered an inquiry. After receiving the survey report, the government will take appropriate action,' she said while instructing the officials to erect a fence around the land to protect it. The officials informed her that out of a total of 91,827 acres of land belonging to the Endowments department, close to 6,000 acres of land is under encroachment. Later in the day, the Endowments minister made a surprise visit to the Balkampet Yellamma temple to inspect the arrangements being made for the upcoming annual kalyana mahotsavam of Goddess Yellamma.
