Audiences go to the theatres to have a good time and to get entertained. In a stressful environment today, everyone wants to forget their stress and worries for a while. Well, this weekend, the film Kapkapiii is here to do that job. It is a perfect combination of killer comedy meeting chilling fun. The film will definitely leave you laughing and make you feel refreshed.
The story revolves around six broke, jobless friends who are living together in a rented house. They have no aim in life and have no idea what they are doing with it. One day, out of boredom they decide to contact a ghost using their jugaadu Ouija board — made from a carrom board! Their life turns upside down when a real ghost named Anamika actually shows up and turns their house into a haunted drama zone. There are flying glasses, creepy voices, and ghosts answering questions that no one else should know. To top it all, comes another character Kabir (Tusshar Kapoor) who adds up to this non-stop madness.
The performances by the cast makes the film so interesting. Shreyas Talpade as Manu is hilarious. He is the fake leader of this gang and he has nailed this role. Tusshar Kapoor steals the show with his expressions and comic timing. Every time he appears, the screen lights up. The rest of the characters like Nanku, Nirup, Rivin , every character have their own flavour which adds to the overall entertainment quotient of the film. Nanku, the tea-seller with a philosopher vibe, and Nirup, the overqualified-but-jobless guy are super fun. The upstairs girls Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Rathee are not just mere side characters or love interests. They bring their own energy to the film. Especially Siddhi who shows great range compared to her emotional role in The Kerala Story.
Sangeeth Sivan, known for madcap comedies like Kya Kool Hai Hum and Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, has managed to bring the same crazy, energetic vibe to Kapkapiii. This time he mixes the right amount of horror to it. It's more like the kind of haunted house you would like to visit. Sadly, this was his final film.
Writers Kumar Priyadarshi and Saurabh Anand have nailed the tone of the film . The dialogues are the soul of the film and they are real, quick, and genuinely funny.The humor in the film does not feel forced at all.
Unlike typical horror-comedies that show ghosts in white sarees , Kapkapiii takes a modern approach. Here the ghost is not just a scary figure- she herself becomes a part of the gang's drama.
Kapkapiii gives you fun, laughter and a little thrill which is exactly what is expected from a good weekend movie. If you have ever shared a flat with your friends, have been broke with them, or done something stupid out of boredom, this movie is for you!

Adah Sharma has been in the film industry for 17 years, but as she puts it, 'it feels like 105'. From her breakout role in 1920 to the blockbuster The Kerala Story, Adah Sharma has quietly carved a space for herself in an industry often accused of gatekeeping. In this candid interview, she talks about the long haul, criticism over controversial roles, her diet staples, what keeps her grounded (spoiler: millet dosas and squirrel sightings), and why she's not here to promote nepotism. Read the edited excerpts below: Adah Sharma: It feels like 105 years, honestly. From 1920 in 2008 to now in 2025. But all my bones are still intact! Adah Sharma: I didn't even know I was allowed to dream this big as an outsider. I definitely couldn't have imagined being where I am today. Adah Sharma: Traumatic, exhausting, and at the same time, very fulfilling. We had no idea it would become so big. Thanks to the audience. Even a year later, people come up to me and talk about specific scenes with so much emotion. It's nice to know we could transport them into the story. Their insights and understanding of scenes and my performance are so touching. Adah Sharma: I thought everyone would stand against terrorism, and rape, and support a film about girls being forced into it. I understand now why some people had a problem with it and called it a lie. A lot of people react in certain ways because of their political affiliations. For me, the film is about the plight of girls being forced to become suicide bombers. The backlash had started 10 days before the release. But once people watched the film, the love we received drowned out the disapproval from those who didn't even watch it. Adah Sharma: Not really. If criticism comes from people who haven't even watched the film and are just reacting politically, I don't take it seriously. I'm grateful I live in a country where women like me are free to act, travel, dress how we like, and where even my critics are allowed to openly make very personalised hate remarks against me publicly, and others are allowed to say they love the film. Freedom of thought and speech is very important for me. Our film did get banned, though, in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Adah Sharma: There are several projects where I feel I have gotten my due. My debut in 1920 – I believe it was the role of a lifetime! To get to do all those crazy things in my very first film. The Kerala Story, Bastar, Sunflower season 2, and my latest release, Reeta Sanyal, where I got to play 10 characters in one show. I think I'm very fortunate. In Telugu as well, from my debut Heart Attack, which I still get so much love for. That said, I also think nepotism is doing very well and doesn't need me to promote it. Adah Sharma: Being misquoted for clickbait headlines, and answering those 'what would you steal from someone's closet' and 'who would you like to be marooned on an island with?' questions. They give me severe anxiety. I start thinking, how long will we be on the island? What's the sleeping situation? Do we bathe in the ocean? What do we do for food? Am I responsible for the other humans' safety since I got them there? The list goes on. Adah Sharma: Just like the X-ray machine can see the bones, I can read people's minds. Very, very clearly. Adah Sharma: I used to practice playing a dead bird when we shot 1920. There is a scene where I eat a raccoon and then run and lie down like a dead bird. Birds, when they die, harden up. Rice is a staple, so are idlis and dosas. We make millet dosas when I'm home, so there's quinoa or raagi dosas. Also, seeds are a big part of my diet, especially when I travel. Pumpkin and sunflower seeds are high in protein and antioxidants. I've been a pure vegetarian since birth, and I don't eat onions. Adah Sharma: In Hinduism, Devi resides in every woman, so I think the film's presentation will please the viewers. Adah Sharma: I definitely use it out of will, and I think the randomness of my feed is proof. Jay Thakkar Reunites with Shreyas Talpade in Kapkapiii: 'We've Come So Far'
Actor Jay Thakkar, who recently appeared in the family drama Bhool Chuk Maaf and the horror-comedy Kapkapiii, is enjoying a career high that feels deeply personal and symbolic. Among the highlights of this milestone moment is his reunion with actor Shreyas Talpade, nearly a decade after their first collaboration. 'Looking back to our first project together, I was a young protagonist in an episode of Savdhaan India: Maharashtra Fight Back Now, and Shreyas was the host,' Jay recalls. 'That episode aired on June 20, 2015. Fast-forward 10 years, and here we are sharing the screen as co-actors in Kapkapiii. It felt like destiny aligning with years of hard work.' In Kapkapiii, Jay stars alongside Shreyas Talpade in what he describes as a creatively fulfilling experience. 'Working with Shreyas again, this time as co-actors, was one of the most joyful and creatively rewarding periods of my career,' says Jay. 'It was effortless. Natural. Like picking up a conversation we started years ago.' Reflecting on what he admires most about his co-star, Jay says, 'Shreyas has a rare combination of impeccable comic timing and genuine kindness. 'On my birthday, he danced, cheered, and even helped me record audition tapes. That day felt more like a celebration of brotherhood than just another shoot.' I got selected for the role of Suryanarayan, and it's all thanks to him. That act reminded me that true mentorship isn't always loud. It shows up in silent acts of belief and support. His humility, despite his stature, continues to inspire me.' With both Bhool Chuk Maaf and Kapkapiii releasing on the same day, Jay says the experience was surreal and sacred. 'To have two theatrical films come out on the same day and be able to celebrate both felt like the culmination of 20 years of silent hustle, auditions, rejections, character-building, heartbreak, and hope. That night, I was deeply emotional. It was more than just a professional win. It was a personal triumph.' Shreyas Talpade calls Akshay Kumar his 'elder brother' and fitness guide; praises Nana Patekar's Marathi flair in ‘Housefull 5': ‘It's going to be a treat'
Brace yourselves for a full-blown comedy hurricane, because the 'Housefull' gang is back and this time, they're bringing in even more madness, mayhem, and laughter! With 15 years of non-stop chaos behind it, the iconic franchise is now heading for its fifth instalment – 'Housefull 5', releasing on 6 June, and promises to be the biggest, craziest one yet. In an exclusive chat with Etimes, Shreyas Talpade spilled the tea on everything from surviving rough seas during the shoot to being pampered by 'Akki bhai' ( Akshay Kumar ), and of course, what it's like to be back with the maddest bunch in Bollywood. From double endings to slapstick drama, Talpade gives insight into why this cruise comedy is ready to dock straight into box office gold. Back in the 'House': Shreyas on returning to the comedy carnival It's been over a decade since Shreyas last brought the laughs in 'Housefull 2', and now, he's stepping back into the loony universe of 'Housefull 5'. Talking about how it feels to be back in the madhouse? He replies, ''Housefull' feels like a family and I'm extremely happy to be a part of this complete mad universe. Getting back with all of them was great and extremely crazy at the same time.' Talking about not being a part of 'Housefull 3' and '4'he simply said, 'I'm sure there was nothing much to offer to me. But this time, the whole concept was completely different. The climax, as everybody knows, is completely different. There are 19-20 actors coming together to create a world which I'm sure people will enjoy watching.' Sajid Khan vs Tarun Mansukhani: Directors with distinct flavours of comedy Comparing the styles of the two directors who have helmed 'Housefull' films, Shreyas notes a fascinating contrast. Talpade explains, 'Sajid's school of filmmaking, what I've experienced, is completely over the top. He'll also make you ham at certain places, but he does it with so much conviction that you believe what he's saying. While Tarun is a little calmer than Sajid is but he gets into the slapstick zone with utmost conviction. ' Shreyas added that working with such varied directors pushes him as an actor. 'Their thoughts are different, their ideas are different, their conviction is different. As an actor, it challenges you to give it your best as per their school of filmmaking. The way the whole franchise has embraced these different styles is awesome.' 'Kapkapiii' to 'Housefull 5': Why back-to-back comedies? After delivering a punchy performance in the horror-comedy 'Kapkapiii' along with Tusshar Kapoor , Shreyas now again jumps straight into the madness of 'Housefull 5'. He says, 'As actors, we live for these challenges, one is a mystery comedy, and one is a horror comedy. Both have an element of slapstick in them. But I think that's what makes it interesting.' He credits the directors and writers for crafting unique characters that allow him to explore different comedic styles. Despite 'Kapkapiii' being delayed due to the passing of director Sangeeth Sivan. 'I'm grateful that I've had back-to-back releases. 'Kapkapiii' was really well received, and now I'm looking forward to 'Housefull 5', which is a whole new experience. As an actor, I feel truly lucky to get the chance to play such varied and interesting characters in every film. ' Shreyas recalls a storm while shooting on the cruise The cast of 'Housefull 5' reads like a who's who of Bollywood, featuring Abhishek Bachchan , Sanjay Dutt , Jacqueline Fernandez , Sonam Bajwa , and many more. The shoot took place on a cruise for 40 days, turning work into a non-stop party. But it wasn't all smooth sailing. Shreyas recalls a terrifying moment when the ship was caught in a storm, 'One of the most unforgettable incidents happened on the cruise itself. We were caught in the middle of a storm and the entire cruise ship kept moving up and down, sideways. All of us kept smiling and laughing, but inside we were really, really scared.' He said they were reminded of the safety drills from day one. 'It was one experience in life which ideally no one should really have… but now that we've gone through it, we know what happens in the middle of the ocean.' Still, he hopes that kind of storm hits the box office too – 'where people go crazy about the film and book as many tickets as many times as possible!' 'Akki bhai was the elder brother who took great care of me' Fans will be thrilled to see Shreyas reunited with Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh. The trio's chemistry is as solid as ever. Talpade shares, 'Working with both of them is not only fun, but they just keep you on your toes all the while – either with some pranks or some games. With Akki bhai, you can expect a lot of fun. Akki bhai was the elder brother who took great, great care of me. He was the one who assured my wife that, 'Don't worry, Shreyas is going to be fine on the cruise. ' He set a workout pattern for me. He set a diet regime. When he's around, you know you're going to be looked after – and I really want to thank him for everything he's done.' From 'Housefull' to 'Jungle': Double dose of comedy franchises Next up, Shreyas will be seen in 'Welcome to the Jungle', reuniting with Akshay once again. It's the third film in the hit 'Welcome' series and the actor is thrilled to be on board. 'That cast again is pretty huge, with so many actors and so many of them with great comic timing. So the kind of fun that we're having on the sets of 'Welcome to the Jungle' is pretty much equal to what we had on 'Housefull'. I feel blessed to be part of these popular franchises and to play an important part in all of them.' More Marathi masala with Nana Patekar's show-stealing acting If there's one thing fans are buzzing about, it's Nana Patekar's hilariously high-energy performance, especially his viral 'Phoogdi dance'. 'Yes, people have given us immense love. Especially when we get the Marathi angle in Hindi films, they love it even more,' said Shreyas. 'But this time, more than me and Riteish, it is Nana sir who's stealing the show… not only with his Fugdi dance, but his complete character.' Patekar plays a character called Dagdu Sir, complete with dhoti , kurta, and fierce energy. 'It is going to be a treat and a delight for all fans of Marathi cinema.' Talking about the dual ending murder mystery A murder mystery in a slapstick comedy? That's the twist 'Housefull 5' is promising – and even the cast was kept in the dark! 'The mystery was there while we were shooting! I think that was the best part – how we went about shooting this,' Shreyas said. 'When actors don't know who the killer is, their performance definitely changes.' Adding to the fun is a dual-ending twist, brainchild of Sajid Nadiadwala himself. 'When I heard it for the first time, I was quite blown away! And I'm sure people are looking forward to that.' Shreyas concluded with a heartfelt hope, 'I just hope people go out there in theatres in big numbers. The advance booking is looking great. So we really want to thank them for that. And I just hope they enjoy the film to the fullest. That is the only thing that will make us happy.'
