Dr. Al-Rabeeah at UK House of Lords: Saudi Arabia provides $134 billion in aid to 172 countries in 30 years

LONDON — Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah said that Saudi Arabia has provided over $134 billion in aid to 172 countries during the period between 1996 and 2025.
Addressing a meeting with members of the UK House of Lords in the United Kingdom's parliament in London on Monday, he noted that KSrelief was established on May 13, 2015 as a generous initiative by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to serve as a specialized entity delivering diverse humanitarian and relief programs. 'The KSrelief has implemented 3,400 projects in 107 countries, with a total value of some $8 billion, covering vital sectors such as food security, education, health, protection, nutrition, water and sanitation, and other essential areas to address humanitarian needs worldwide,' he said.
Dr. Al-Rabeeah pointed out that the center has carried out 1,089 projects specifically dedicated to women worldwide, with a total value exceeding $868 million, and 1,029 projects focused on children, worth over $1 billion, benefiting more than 219 million children.
The KSrelief chief highlighted that the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, a globally unique initiative that receives conjoined and parasitic twins from around the world and covers all expenses related to their separation surgeries, medical care, and post-operative rehabilitation. Since its inception in 1990, the program has evaluated 149 cases from 27 countries and successfully performed 62 separation surgeries.
Regarding refugees in the Kingdom, Dr. Al-Rabeeah noted that Saudi Arabia is among the leading host countries, referring to refugees as "visitors," with a total of 1,095,029 individuals from Yemen, Syria, and Myanmar. The Kingdom grants them the right to work and provides free healthcare and education in public schools.
Members of the House of Lords praised Saudi Arabia's humanitarian and relief efforts through KSrelief, recognizing its role in supporting global humanitarian initiative and alleviating the suffering of vulnerable and affected populations worldwide.

KSrelief signs agreement to build four water desalination plants in Gaza Strip

This agreement comes as part of the efforts provided by Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, to support the water and sanitation sector and alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people due to the humanitarian crisis they are experiencing.

Nearly 6,000 new urban heritage sites registered in National Urban Heritage Register

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Saudi Heritage Commission announced on Sunday the registration of 5,969 new urban heritage sites in the National Urban Heritage Register, bringing the total number of registered sites to 34,171. This reflects the richness and diversity of architectural heritage in various regions of the Kingdom. The new registration list included several sites across various regions of the Kingdom. The Riyadh Region has 258 sites; Makkah Region: 483 sites; Qassim Region: 761 sites; Asir Region: 3,893 sites; Al-Baha Region: 499 sites; Hail Region: 60 sites; Jazan Region: 8 sites; Al-Jouf Region: 4 sites; and the Eastern Province: three sites. This registration was made in accordance with regulations related to antiquities and urban heritage, and in accordance with the decision of the Heritage Commission's Board of Directors to delegate the authority's CEO to register urban heritage sites. This is intended to enhance the protection of these sites from encroachment or neglect and ensure their preservation for future generations. The commission emphasized that this step is part of its strategic plan to expand the scope of legal protection for heritage sites and enable their rehabilitation in a way that enhances national identity and highlights their cultural and historical value as living testaments to the Kingdom's architectural heritage. The commission called on all members of society to support its efforts to monitor and register heritage sites by reporting them via the "Balagh" service, communicating with the commission through its official social media channels, or by calling the number of the Unified Security Operations Center 911. The commission emphasized that community participation is a key component in preserving and activating the national urban heritage.

Saudi Arabia supports refugees with 357 aid projects

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia has strengthened its humanitarian role in refugee issues worldwide through KSrelief, which has carried out 3,438 projects in 107 countries, costing more than $7.9 billion. Among these, 357 projects support refugees, with nearly $497 million spent in Yemen, Somalia, the Syrian Arab Republic, Myanmar, Palestine, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, focusing on food security, health, shelter, education, and protection. Refugee numbers have risen globally, with 52 percent originating from Syria (6.5 million), Afghanistan (5.7 million), and Ukraine (5.7 million). At least 76 percent of displaced people live in low- or middle-income countries, increasing the humanitarian challenge, according to the SPA. Saudi Arabia hosts refugees from Syria, Yemen, and Myanmar, about 5.5 percent of its population, offering free education, healthcare, and work opportunities under a policy respecting human rights and promoting charity. These efforts reflect the Kingdom's humanitarian commitment, highlighted on World Refugee Day on June 20, established by the UN to raise awareness of global displacement. Saudi Arabia continues to enhance its humanitarian role through partnerships and initiatives focused on human rights and dignity, the SPA reported.
