Margaret Cho alleges Ellen DeGeneres was 'really weird and not nice' to her

There's no love lost between Margaret Cho and Ellen DeGeneres. During an appearance on "The Kelly Mantle Show," the comedian, 56, alleged that the former "Ellen DeGeneres Show" host was "really weird and not nice" to her for "most" of her career. USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for DeGeneres for comment. The topic came up when Mantle asked Cho to share her thoughts on a series of comedians. After DeGeneres was named, Cho took a long pause before responding that the "Finding Nemo" star, who is "somebody that I've known for such a long time," is "mean." Cho added that DeGeneres "was like a mean girl" and speculated she "always had negative feelings towards me because her girlfriends" liked her. The "Drop Dead Diva" star went on to allege that when she would appear on DeGeneres' talk show, the comedian "acted like we just met," even though Cho previously opened for her in the 1980s. "That's weird," Cho said. "We go way back." Cho also recalled an instance where David Bowie appeared on DeGeneres' show and talked "at length" in praise of Cho and her wardrobe after Cho went to see the singer the night before. But DeGeneres "cut it out of the show, which made me so mad," Cho said, calling this "so rude." "I don't know if it was personal — maybe it was (cut) for time — but still, I'm going to take it personally," she added. Ellen DeGeneres says she went to therapy amid toxic workplace scandal in final comedy special After the interview, Cho shared a clip of her comments about DeGeneres on Instagram, writing, "Have you heard this story? It's a good one." DeGeneres hosted her long-running "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" from 2003 to 2022 after previously starring on the groundbreaking sitcom "Ellen." In 2020, current and former employees of the talk show spoke out against what they described as "racism, fear, and intimidation" behind the scenes in an investigation by BuzzFeed News. Ellen DeGeneres celebrates 20 years with Portia de Rossi, addresses UK home flooding rumors DeGeneres addressed the toxic workplace allegations on her show in September 2020, telling viewers that "things happened here that never should have happened," adding, "I take that very seriously, and I want to say I am so sorry to the people who were affected." The following year, she announced she would end her talk show. In September, DeGeneres further addressed the allegations in her Netflix special "Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval," quipping that she got "kicked out of show business because I'm mean." She also revealed that she went to therapy to "deal with all the hatred" amid the toxic workplace scandal. "It was not a common situation for a therapist to deal with," she said in the special. "At one point, my therapist said, 'Ellen, where do you get this idea that everyone hates you?' I said, 'Well, New York Times, Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly, Us Weekly — I think Elmo may have said something recently on an episode of 'Sesame Street.'"

When Does Casa Amor Start? Everything To Know About The ‘Love Island' Season 7 Twist

LOVE ISLAND USA — Pictured: Casa Amor — (Photo by: Kim Nunneley/Peacock via Getty Images) Season 7 of Love Island is heating up – and it's about to get even spicier. Now that we're almost three weeks in, that can only mean one thing: Casa Amor. The legendary twist is poised to shake up the villa and couples like never before. Here's everything to know about Casa Amor 2025, including when it starts, which Islanders will be going and more. Casa Amor is a twist in the Love Island franchise where the couples are temporarily split up midway through the season. One group heads to a nearby villa called Casa Amor, while the others stay put in the main villa. Casa Amor is meant to test the loyalty of the Islanders and introduce a new set of bombshells in both villas. Casa Amor was first introduced in Season 3 of Love Island UK and made its way to the US version in Season 2 – and it's remained an anticipated part of the dating competition ever since, mainly because of the drama and viral moments it causes. (Last season, three of the four couples who made it to the finale brought girls back from Casa – including Season 6 winners Kordell and Serena, who are still together today). On the June 21 episode of Love Island USA: Aftersun, Madix revealed details about how Casa Amor will work for Season 7. She teased that this time around, there will be 'more twists and turns to Casa than ever before,' and the production crew will be getting the girls out of the main villa in a way fans have never seen. 'They are going to start it very differently, getting the girls out, something they've never done before," she explained." I feel like I say that a lot like we've never done it before, but then it's always something crazy we've never done before.' The Vanderpump Rules alum also shared more details about what the Casa Amor house will look like compared to previous seasons, including the presence of a 'hidden room.' 'I actually just went over there and checked it out, it looks really really cool. There's a room with a revolving door that is very private. You know when you push on a bookcase and it reveals a hidden room?, you push this circle on the wall and it rotates and reveals it's a door into a room with pillows, it's giving Soul Ties vibes but more private, sneakier," she said. Madix added that there's also "a fire pit and a couch surrounding it.' When Is Casa Amor Happening For Love Island Season 7? LOVE ISLAND USA — Pictured: Casa Amor — (Photo by: Kim Nunneley/Peacock via Getty Images) Casa Amor for Love Island USA Season 7 will start on Monday, June 23 at 9 p.m. ET, Madix said. 'Two more sleeps baby," she revealed on Aftersun on Saturday. "Monday night it's all going to kick off.' Who Is Going To Casa Amor In Love Island Season 7? LOVE ISLAND USA — Episode 715 — Pictured: (l-r) Cierra Ortega, Amaya Espinal, Huda Mustafa, Huda ... More Mustafa, Olandria Carthen, Hannah Fields, Michelle "Chelley" Bissainthe, Iris Kendall — (Photo by: Ben Symons/Peacock via Getty Images) Madix revealed that this time the girls – not the boys – will be heading to Casa Amor in Season 7. The girls currently in the villa are Chelley, Olandria, Cierra, Hannah, Amaya, Iris and Andreina. 'I can also reveal, that it will be the girls that are going to casa this year,' she said. Summer House star Paige DeSorbo, who was guest appearing on the episode, commented that, 'I feel like they're the perfect girls to go to casa.' Aftersun correspondent Celly Vazquez added that he wants to see the gals "act up.' Where Do The Guys Go While The Girls Are At Casa Amor? LOVE ISLAND USA — Episode 716 — Pictured: (l-r) Jose "Pepe" Garcia-Gonzalez, Nicolas "Nic" ... More Vansteenberghe, Taylor Wiliams, Ace Green, Austin Shepard, Jeremiah Brown, Thomas John "TJ" Palma (Photo by: Ben Symons/Peacock via Getty Images) Don't worry – the boys will also get some bombshell action too. The men will remain at the main Love Island villa, and they'll be greeted by newcomers also hoping to win their hearts and be recoupled to enter the main competition. Could Jeremiah, Ace, Austin, Taylor, Nic, Pepe or TJ find a stronger connection with someone else? What Happens At The End Of Casa Amor? LOVE ISLAND — "Casa Amor" — Pictured: Casa Amor Atmosphere — (Photo by: Sara Mally/PEACOCK via Getty ... More Images) Casa Amor typically lasts for a few episodes. At the end, the girls will be given a choice: remain loyal to their previous partner or bring a new bombshell into the house and couple up with them. Similarly, the boys will also be presented with an option (but they won't know what the girls do until after they make their decision). They can either remain loyal to their partner who went to Casa Amor or couple up with a new bombshell. Stay tuned for the 2025 Casa Amor cast and what to know about the bombshells entering both the main villa and the Casa Amor villa. Love Island USA Season 7 airs daily except for Wednesdays on Peacock.

'Elio' star Zoe Saldaña lives for winning 'cool mom points' with her kids

How does Zoe Saldaña follow up an Academy Award win? By starring in a Pixar animated movie. Her kids think one is cooler than the other, and it might not be the one you expect. 'Definitely winning an Oscar, because they're playing soccer right now,' Saldaña says. 'They're like, 'Mom! Oscar is like the World Cup!' And then my third son was like, 'What? You got it for supporting actress, right?' And I'm just like, 'Oh, Zen. Thank you for keeping me on my toes.' 'But they're always proud of the fact that I'm making an effort in wanting to cater to films that they can watch right now.' Join our Watch Party! Sign up to receive USA TODAY's movie and TV recommendations right in your inbox Saldaña has starred in big franchises like 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Avatar' but also stayed busy in the animation space, with roles in the 'Maya and the Three' miniseries, 'Missing Link,' 'My Little Pony: The Movie' and now Pixar's 'Elio.' Saldaña voices Olga Solis, the aunt and guardian of an 11-year-old boy named Elio (Yonas Kibreab) who wishes he could be abducted by aliens and is picked up by a spaceship full of colorful creatures. The "Emilia Pérez" star always wants her sons – twins Cy and Bowie, 10, and Zen, 8 – to be proud of her, and 'my kids are absolutely revelations to me every single day,' Saldaña says. 'They're my biggest teachers. And obviously I say that behind their backs. I never want them to feel completely responsible for my growth, but they are teaching me a lot by just growing around me and evolving and setting their boundaries and claiming their space and revealing themselves to themselves.' By being in stories that appeal to younger audiences, 'it just contributes to my deeper education on wanting to know how to be a better mom to my kids,' she adds. 'I just want to be cool for a longer time than possible. In my mind, I feel like that this gives me cool mom points.' Her character in 'Elio,' though, has to figure out how to be a mom. Olga is an Air Force major who's put her dreams of being an astronaut on hold to care for her nephew, and they struggle to get along. When Elio gets beamed up to space and goes on his adventures there, a clone Elio is sent back to Earth to take his place. And this one, Elio 2.0, is agreeable, generally compliant and overall 'too perfect,' Saldaña says. 'That sounds in theory like a perfect Mother's Day, where the mom has a yes day,' Saldaña says. 'Can I make you some broccoli with that? Yes. Do you want to pick up after yourself? Absolutely. But if that were to happen in reality in my life, I would be like at the hospital with my kids, like there's something wrong with my child. Why he's saying yes to everything I'm proposing?! 'With Olga, even though everything on the surface was fine, something was unsettling. That woke up that maternal instinct in her to, to really say, 'OK, I may not understand my kid, but I love my kid so much so that I know when he's off, I know when he's not being himself.' ' Saldaña, who next stars in "Avatar: Fire and Ash" (in theaters Dec. 19), enjoys collaborating with kids on movie projects. 'It's shorter work hours when you work with children,' she says. 'You don't have to do those long 14-hour days. If all your scenes are with that child, you get to go home when they go home and I kind of love that. 'It's easier for me to work with other kids than to work with my own. I can't really imagine ever being able to work with my own kids because I wouldn't be able to separate being their mom at all times.' A couple of Saldaña's sons have expressed some interest in acting. She and husband Marco Perego 'would support our children if this is what they would want to pursue," Saldaña says. "But so far, the moment we go, 'Well, come on, let's wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning, let's get on the road for two hours, let's memorize these 10 pages,' they're like, 'Uh, I don't think so.' '
