Art Basel arrives in Qatar
After being announced as the first country in three decades to construct a permanent national pavilion at the Giardini gardens at the prestigious Venice Biennale, Qatar will also now host the newest art fair in the region. Following the launch of Art Basel Paris in 2022, the MCH Group – owner of Art Basel – has announced the inaugural edition of Art Basel in Qatar.
To take place in February 2026 in Doha – at M7 creative hub and Doha Design District in downtown Msheireb, close to cultural landmarks including National Museum of Qatar – the event has been announced in partnership with leading Qatari organisations such as Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) and QC+.
In a statement, Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums said, 'As part of His Highness the Amir's National Vision 2030, Qatar has been transforming itself into a knowledge-based economy, with culture and the creative industries helping to lead the way. We have built a thriving ecosystem of culture and sports, harnessing the capacity of both to break down barriers, create shared experiences, increase understanding and drive positive change. We have opened the National Museum of Qatar and the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, and this year we will launch the Lusail Museum and DADU: Children's Museum of Qatar.'

While the region already boasts of other art fairs such as Art Dubai, Abu Dhabi Art, the entry of a prestigious property like Art Basel – which is one of the oldest art fairs on the circuit, founded by three Swiss art dealers in 1970 – backing the fair, strengthens the perception of the Middle East as a potentially important market for art.

London: For the second year running, Qatar Airways has won the World's Best Airline title at the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards. Singapore Airlines came second and Cathay Pacific was third, according to the UK-based consultancy, which runs the aviation review website. This is the 9th time the Qatari national carrier has won the coveted honour in the 26-year history of the awards, known as the "Oscars of the aviation industry." Dubai's Emirates came in 4th place, followed by ANA All Nippon Airways, Turkish Airlines, Korean Air, Air France, and Japan Airlines. China's Hainan Airlines was 10th in the 2025 Skytrax airline awards. Singapore Airlines, which has won the World's Best Airline award five times, came in second this year and was also recognised as the Best Airline in Asia, World's Best Cabin Crew, and World's Best First Class. Other noteworthy airlines that made it into the world's top 20 include Swiss International Air Lines, British Airways, Qantas, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, Air Canada, STARLUX Airlines, EVA Air, Saudia, and Iberia.

China falls into its own trap New Delhi: The world's largest gas field, the South Pars, has been completely damaged in Israeli attack. This has led to the complete halt in the production of gas. Iran's Current Condition: Due to international sanctions, most of the gas produced in Iran is being used within the country. Gas fields are the main source of income in Iran, it also uses this gas to heat homes, run factories, and sustain its economy. Qatar, on the other hand, exports 77 million tons of LNG annually from this same attack not only poses a threat to Iran's energy sector but also serves as a warning that more critical sites could be targeted in the future. Huge Impact of Inflation Iran is likely to face a major crisis in the coming days. Notably, the people of the country is already facing high inflation. Iran's population is nearly 10 times that of Israel. In 2024, Iran's GDP was $434 billion, while Israel's economy stood at $540 billion. Iran's biggest source of income is crude oil, but the United States and Western countries have already imposed various sanctions on Iran. China will also be affected Over 90 percent of Iran's oil exports go to China. The trade relationship between Iran and China remained unaffected despite the sanctions imposed by the world. But now, the attacks on Iran's oil facilities likely to change this situation. It may disrupt China's oil supply, and if that happens, it could harm the Chinese economy as well. In March, China imported 1.8 million barrels of crude oil daily from Iran. China, which has blocked the supply of rare earth magnets to India, may now end up falling into its own trap. Iran's economy is dominated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard and Islamic organizations. They neither pay taxes nor maintain transparent records. Experts say Iran is not in a position to fight a prolonged war with Israel.
