Horrific Israeli massacre in Jabalia kills dozens of displaced Palestinians

DaysofPal – A new massacre unfolded in northern Gaza early Thursday as Israeli airstrikes leveled three adjacent homes sheltering displaced families in Jabalia Al-Balad, killing and injuring over 100 people in one of the deadliest attacks in recent days.
The targeted homes belonged to the Al-Asaliya family and were located near the Omari Mosque in the heart of the overcrowded Jabalia refugee camp.
Palestinian medical sources confirmed that many of the victims were women and children, with survivors pulled from under the rubble and rushed to the already overwhelmed Al-Maqadmi Hospital.
Simultaneously, the home of the Al-Zabda family in the nearby Al-Mukhabarat area was hit, causing further casualties, including missing persons, while multiple streets and residential blocks across Jabalia have been under near-continuous bombardment for days.
Elsewhere in the Gaza Strip, at least five people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City. In the city's Al-Shati camp and along Al-Jalaa Street, 15 more Palestinians lost their lives as intense air raids struck populated areas. Al-Shifa Hospital reported dozens of injuries in those attacks.
In Khan Yunis, in the southern part of the Strip, six Palestinians were killed when Israeli forces targeted civilians waiting for aid on Al-Tina Street. Witnesses described the aftermath as devastating, with body parts strewn amid scattered food supplies.

By midday, field reports indicated that the death toll from Israeli strikes since the early hours had climbed to at least 77, including 55 in Gaza City and the northern region alone. These latest attacks come amid a relentless assault that has continued unabated for more than eight months.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel's military campaign in Gaza, backed by the United States, has resulted in what Palestinian officials and human rights advocates have described as an ongoing genocide.
Over 185,000 people have been killed or injured, the majority of them children and women, with more than 11,000 still missing under the rubble. Entire neighborhoods have been destroyed, famine is spreading, and hundreds of thousands remain forcibly displaced.

Israel Shuts Down Al-Aqsa Mosque for Second Friday

DaysofPal — For the second week in a row, Israeli occupation forces closed all gates to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Friday, barring Palestinian worshippers from entering for Friday prayers, according to a statement from the Jerusalem Governorate. Israeli occupation authorities shut all entrances to the mosque compound, including Bab Hutta and Bab al-Silsila, after allowing only a limited number of worshipers through under the pretext that the allowed capacity had been reached. The Jerusalem Governorate reported that Israeli forces also stopped worshipers at Bab al-Sahira and obstructed access to the Old City and the mosque ahead of Friday prayers. Despite the restrictions, Palestinian activists and religious leaders issued urgent calls to residents of Jerusalem and Palestinians in 1948-occupied territories to mobilize and flock to the mosque, especially after the compound was reopened on Wednesday following a six-day closure. The calls emphasized the importance of mass attendance and participation in prayer at the mosque, rejecting Israel's restrictive 'quota' policy, which reportedly limits attendance to 400–500 individuals. Activists described the current moment as critical, urging people to resist ongoing Israeli attempts to isolate Al-Aqsa from its surrounding community. 'Being present at Al-Aqsa right now is a form of popular resistance,' said one Jerusalemite activist. 'It's a clear message that this holy site is a red line that must not be crossed, regardless of political or military circumstances.' Last Friday, Israeli authorities completely sealed off Al-Aqsa under the pretext of a 'state of emergency' following the start of Israel's military operation against Iran. Although the mosque was reopened on Wednesday with limited access for some worshipers, dozens of Israeli settlers stormed the compound through the Moroccan Gate the following day under heavy police protection. On World Refugee Day: Hamas Says No Solution to Refugees Except Ending Occupation

DayofPal– The Hamas Movement affirmed that the global celebration of World Refugee Day, amid the ongoing war of extermination and starvation in Gaza, places the international community before political, legal, humanitarian, and moral responsibilities to put an end to the Israeli crimes. In a press statement issued on Friday, Hamas stated that this year's World Refugee Day comes at a time when the Israeli Zionist occupation is escalating its war of extermination and starvation against the people in Gaza, committing daily massacres and crimes against the displaced and starving refugees. Hamas added: 'The terrorist occupation government has turned relief operations for the starving into death traps and ambushes, where our Palestinian people are killed at the gates of the criminal American-Zionist-controlled checkpoints distributing humanitarian aid—in the most horrific forms of bloody revenge killings and violations of all international laws, norms, and humanitarian values.' The movement pointed out that the continued aggressive war by the Israeli occupation against refugee camps in the occupied West Bank, through systematic destruction and displacement, is a dangerous escalation in targeting the refugee issue. 'it's only an attempt to erase its features, as a prelude to liquidating our national cause. However, our people will not allow this and will stand as a formidable barrier against it,' it added. Hamas affirmed that the right of return for refugees to the homes they were displaced from by the Israeli occupation is an individual and collective right, recognized by international laws, charters, and UN resolutions. No one has the authority to relinquish, compromise, negotiate away, or abandon this right. The movement reiterated its rejection of all solutions aiming to erase the refugee issue or end the right of return. It also categorically rejected all Israeli attempts, supported by the U.S. administration, to abolish, obscure, or eliminate the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), or to transfer its mandate to any other entity, especially in the distribution of aid and relief. Hamas emphasized the necessity for the agency, as a UN institution, to fully uphold its responsibilities in distributing aid, serving refugees, and providing them with necessary services. The movement reaffirmed that the Israeli Zionist occupation of Palestine land and its perpetration of crimes of displacement, discrimination, and apartheid against the people for over seven decades is the root cause of the ongoing tragedy and suffering of millions of Palestinian refugees, both inside and in the diaspora. Federal Judge Orders Release of Palestinian Columbia Student Leader from ICE Detention

DayofPal– A federal judge has ordered the release of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student leader at Columbia University, after more than three months in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention. The decision comes amid mounting criticism over what civil liberties advocates are calling a politically motivated crackdown on pro-Palestinian activism. Khalil, a lawful permanent resident of the United States, was arrested in March by plainclothes ICE agents who entered his Columbia-owned residence without a warrant. The agents initially claimed that Khalil's visa had been revoked; when he informed them he held a green card, they said that had been revoked as well. His attorney, Amy Greer, who was on the phone during the arrest, demanded to see a warrant, ICE agents hung up on her instead. Following his arrest, Khalil was transferred over 1,000 miles to a detention center in Louisiana. Despite claiming Khalil was a flight risk, government officials admitted they had no warrant. Security footage from the arrest showed Khalil cooperating peacefully. On Friday, U.S. District Judge Michael E. Farbiarz granted Khalil bail and sharply criticized the government's handling of the case, calling the detention 'highly, highly unusual.' In his ruling, Farbiarz stated, 'There is at least something to the underlying claim that there is an effort to use the immigration charge here to punish Mr. Khalil. And of course that would be unconstitutional.' Khalil was never charged with a crime. The Trump administration initially justified his arrest under the rarely invoked claim that his activism was 'compromising U.S. foreign policy', a designation made directly by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Earlier this month, Judge Farbiarz blocked the administration from using that reasoning to continue Khalil's detention or initiate deportation proceedings, stating that it was causing 'irreparable harm.' Last week, the government shifted its approach, alleging Khalil had misrepresented his employment history on his green card application. But the judge found those claims insufficient to justify continued detention. During his time in custody, Khalil missed the birth of his first child and Columbia's graduation ceremonies. ICE denied his repeated requests to be relocated closer to his wife and newborn. Khalil is among several international students and academics arrested in a broader federal crackdown on anti-genocide and pro-Palestinian activism on U.S. campuses. Others swept up in similar arrests include Mohsen Mahdawi, Rümeysa Öztürk, and Badar Khan Suri. Their cases remain ongoing. Now released, Khalil will be allowed to fight his immigration case from outside of detention. Shortlink for this post:
