Pak music icon launches debut solo single
Dubai-based renowned international singer, humanitarian, and global goodwill ambassador Sonia Majeed, who has represented Pakistan and the Middle East on world stages and platforms like the UN, Google, and CNN, has just unveiled the audio release of her debut solo single 'Yariaan.'
The full music video is set to premiere worldwide on Aug.1, 2025 in Dubai.
While talking to Gulf Today, Sonia said 'My new song 'Yariaan' (friendship) is first-ever solo single and it is more than just a song. It is an emotional journey that celebrates the essence of true friendship, unconditional love, and the beauty of caring,' she said.
It is making waves with its powerful message that love goes far beyond romantic relationships.
'This song is not just for the love era,' Sonia said.
'It's for every soul that has ever truly loved - be it a mother, a sibling, a friend, a colleague, a companion, a pet, or even God. Love is giving. Love is caring.'
The audio of 'Yariaan' is now available on all major digital platforms, including Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube, Instagram Reels, and TikTok.
The track is already gaining momentum across global playlists and trending under the hashtag #YariaanChallenge.
The Pakistani singer is also holder of UAE Golden Visa and is engaged in a number of social and humanitarian initiatives for under-privileged people in different parts of Pakistan.
'Besides many humanitarian projects in the past couple of years, I am part of new first-of-its-kind initiative, as this music video for 'Yariaan' will feature a special tribute to People of Determination, bringing forward a message of inclusion and love that the global music industry has rarely seen,' she added.
Sonia's heartfelt performance promises to break barriers and touch hearts across every continent.
The new song is brought to life by a powerhouse team including Imrana Majeed as producer, Samran Warsi as music director, video director and lyricist and the music is composed by Zain Khan while Rizwan Yaqoob Ali is the vocal recordist.
Sonia also highlighted that 'to promote the message of love, friendship, and caring worldwide we have also launched an online challenge for social media community to make this song a unique creativity in their post and can win a brand-new iPhone, an iPad and a fully-sponsored 3-day trip to Baku. F1 movie star Pitt finally gets to drive a Formula One car
Brad Pitt, whose new F1 movie is out next week, has now driven a Formula One car for real after testing a McLaren at Austin's Circuit of the Americas. The reigning world champions confirmed the Hollywood A lister drove a 2023 McLaren MCL60 car at the Texas track on Thursday. Media reports said the British-based team had been carrying out a private test with F1 regular Lando Norris and F2 driver Alex Dunne. It was the first time 61-year-old Pitt, who plays the fictional racing driver Sonny Hayes in the Apple Originals movie, had driven a real Formula One car on track. The cars used in the making of the film were Formula Two cars, modified by Mercedes to look like real grand prix racers. Champions McLaren had teased the drive on Thursday with a social media post of overalls with the initials BP and the caption "It's a Sonny day in Austin". Seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton, a co-producer of the movie, said in March that Pitt had shown real speed while testing the F2 cars. "Watching Brad drive around at speeds over 180 miles an hour was really impressive to see because it's not something you can just learn overnight," he said. Sheikh Mohammed pays tribute to father with excerpt from new book Life Taught Me
, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has paid tribute to his father by publishing an excerpt from his new book Life Taught Me, which is to be released in the coming months. Sheikh Mohammed posted the message on X on Father's Day, which is celebrated in the UAE on June 21. The post included part of the ninth chapter of the book and reflects on the enduring lessons passed down by his late father, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed, former ruler of Dubai. The book will offer reflections on leadership, character and life values. Sheikh Mohammed has said he learnt many of the lessons from his father. 'Every time I think about my father's shrewdness and wisdom … his life and his biography … I realise how much I learnt from him … and how I was influenced by his personality,' Sheikh Mohammed said on X. The tribute paints a vivid portrait of Sheikh Rashid as a calm, composed and principled leader who shaped Dubai's development and inspired his son. 'I learnt from my father the simplicity of life, self-control, not to be preoccupied with trivialities and not to believe weak-minded and frivolous people,' Sheikh Mohammed wrote. 'I learnt from him how to listen … and when to be tough and when to be gentle.' Describing his father as dignified and compassionate to all, Sheikh Mohammed said: 'His mere presence commanded reverence from everyone. My father was rarely angry or upset. He was kind and good-natured. He did not like deception. He did not get alarmed or panicked by anything. Rather, he was steadfast, confident and serious.' The post offers a rare insight into how Sheikh Rashid's legacy has shaped Sheikh Mohammed's approach to governance. 'I learnt from my father to love my family, relatives, brothers and to be close to my sisters … and I still do,' he said. 'I learnt from him to love honesty and justice.' Sheikh Mohammed said his father's strong character left a lasting impression. 'My father did not like a lot of food, or a lot of talking or a lot of buildings and palaces. Rather, he tended towards simplicity, lightness and self-control.'
