Trade Arabia23-04-2025

The first stage of judging for this year's Seatrade Maritime News 20Under40 has now been completed, with 40 short-listed candidates revealed.
The ultimate aim is to recognise 20 exceptional individuals under the age of 40 who have made significant contributions to global maritime, demonstrating leadership, innovation, and impact.
Of the 40 shortlisted candidates, there is a good global mix with the UAE well represented along with talented individuals from Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Malaysia, Norway, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the UK, and representing all areas of the maritime industry.
This includes ship owners and operators, law, maritime services and suppliers, trade bodies and registry. Aged under 40, all candidates were chosen on the basis of how well they demonstrated genuine leadership in maritime, across impact, innovation, industry contribution, professional growth, vision for the future, ethics, and community and environmental responsibility.
The final 20 will be announced during a ceremony at the upcoming Seatrade Maritime's flagship show Seatrade Maritime Logistics Middle East, which returns to Dubai World Trade Centre from May 6 to 8.
This three-day free to attend event is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure as part of UAE Maritime Week. It brings together key stakeholders in the maritime sector, governmental and semi-governmental entities, as well as innovators in the fields of technology, energy, finance, investment and services, in addition to the most prominent suppliers, decision-makers and shipping companies.
Seatrade Maritime's Content Director, and leading the judging, Emma Howell, said: 'The level of interest in this year's Seatrade Maritime News 20Under40 has been absolutely phenomenal and we've been delighted with the response. The judges were extremely impressed with the high quality and diversity of entries and this reinforces our belief that our global industry is being driven forward by a wealth of unsung talent and emerging leaders.
'This initiative is also in itself now as much an international celebration of the industry as it is an individual recognition. It was certainly no easy task choosing the finalists - so much so in fact that we decided to shortlist forty. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of the final twenty, which will be announced during Seatrade Maritime Logistics Middle East 2025.' - TradeArabia News Service

Khazna Data Centers, NVIDIA join to develop AI factories in region

Aligning with growing demand for AI infrastructure, Khazna Data Centers (Khazna), a global leader in hyperscale digital infrastructure, today announced it is collaborating with NVIDIA to build AI factories in the MEA region. Following the high-profile visit of US President Donald Trump to the UAE, and the announcement of a planned 5GW UAE-US AI campus, the collaboration is another example of the deepening ties between the region and US technology leaders in shaping the future of AI and digital infrastructure, a statement said. Through this collaboration, NVIDIA has certified the design of Khazna's next-generation facilities to support the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture. Khazna's ongoing and upcoming infrastructure developments will feature NVIDIA-ready blueprints as standard, ensuring full compatibility with the latest GPU-accelerated workloads. Khazna will design the majority of its future data halls with capacities of up to 50MW, developing individual AI clusters of up to 250MW. With many of these data halls situated in the planned UAE-US AI campus, this will place the UAE among the world's most advanced AI infrastructure hubs. Khazna is also expanding rapidly across the Middle East, Africa and Europe, with plans to scale up to 1GW of capacity in countries such as France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Türkiye, and Kenya. 'The world is entering a new era of AI-driven innovation, and the UAE is uniquely positioned to lead. Our work with NVIDIA represents a bold step forward in delivering high-performance, future-ready infrastructure at unprecedented scale. It reinforces our support for the UAE's ambitions to become a global AI leader,' said Hassan Alnaqbi, CEO of Khazna Data Centers. – TradeArabia News Service

It is being implemented in co-ordination with Asyad Holding Group and its key collaborator Sinohydro and chief lender Riyad Bank. The project is set to be operational in 2027 and has a concession tenor of 20 years, it added. "At Lamar, we've always believed that infrastructure is more than buildings and utilities. It is about people. It's about delivering places that foster dignity, wellbeing, and pride for those who serve in demanding conditions," said a company spokesman. "Building on our successful delivery of the East-West bachelor compound ahead of schedule and within budget, this project continues our consortium's commitment to providing high-quality and accessible housing for Aramco's brave remote staff. We aim to raise the bar and exceed the high standard developed previously," he noted.
