
Saudi authorities seize 17.6kg of methamphetamine
RIYADH: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority at the Rub Al-Khali border crossing thwarted an attempt to smuggle 17.6 kilograms of methamphetamine.
ZATCA said that during the inspection of a truck at the Rub Al-Khali border crossing, the methamphetamine was found hidden inside the fuel tank of a vehicle being transported on the truck.
The authority coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to identify the drugs' intended recipients, resulting in two arrests, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
ZATCA reiterated its determination to enhance customs controls on the Kingdom's imports and exports to safeguard society and shield it from the dangers of drug trafficking.
These efforts are carried out in close and ongoing coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
ZATCA urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling and protecting society and the national economy by reporting suspicious activities.

20 drug smugglers nabbed within 24 hours
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Saudi security authorities have arrested 20 drug smugglers in massive security operations carried out across the Kingdom within the last 24 hours. Those arrested include citizens and violators of border security regulations. The arrests were made in the regions of Tabuk, Asir, the Northern Borders, and Jazan, for their involvement in promoting or smuggling narcotics. In the Tabuk region, the General Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested six citizens and Egyptian residents for promoting hashish and amphetamine, in addition to pills subject to medical circulation regulations. In the Asir region, a citizen was arrested for promoting 8,000 pills subject to medical circulation regulations. In the Northern Borders region, two citizens were arrested for promoting hashish and amphetamine. As part of efforts to combat cross-border smuggling attempts, Border Guard land patrols teams in the Dhahran Al-Janoub sector in the Asir region arrested five Ethiopian border security violators, who were in possession of 52 kilograms of hashish. Border Guard patrols in Al-Daer sector in the Jazan region also arrested four Ethiopian violators for smuggling 80 kilograms of khat, while security patrols in Al-Farsha governorate in the Asir region foiled an attempt to smuggle 28 kilograms of khat. The security authorities confirmed that they had completed the initial legal procedures against those involved, and handed them over, along with the seized items, to the competent authorities. They were then referred to the Public Prosecution. The authorities emphasized their continued pursuit of anyone who would threaten the security of society. They called upon citizens and residents to report any information they have about any activities related to drug smuggling or trafficking, by calling the numbers 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and the number 999 in the rest of the Saudi regions. The information can also be passed to the General Directorate of Narcotic Control over the number 995, the authorities said while noting that all reports will be dealt with in complete confidentiality.

Customs authorities record 2,126 contraband seizures in 2 weeks
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority revealed the seizure of 2,126 smuggling cases at land, sea, and air customs ports across Saudi Arabia during the period of two weeks. The seized items include 234 types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, shabu, and Captagon pills, in addition to 311 prohibited substances. The Customs authorities at the ports have also foiled attempt to smuggle 3,316 tobacco and tobacco derivatives, along with 132 types of cash, and eight types of weapons and related supplies. The authority affirmed its continued efforts, in cooperation and coordination with all its partners from relevant agencies, to tighten customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports so as to ensure the security and protection of society. The authority called on all members of the Saudi society to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy, by contacting it over the number designated for security reports 1910 or the international number 009661910 or via email 1910@ The authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Unified Customs Law through these channels, in complete confidentiality, with a financial reward granted to the reporter if the information in the report is correct.

Saudi forces foil several drug smuggling attempts
JEDDAH: Saudi authorities have made numerous drug-related arrests throughout the Kingdom recently, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday. The General Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested a Yemeni resident in Jeddah for attempting to sell 194,000 amphetamine pills. Security patrols in Jazan thwarted two smuggling attempts involving 213 kg of qat in Al-Aridah governorate, while in Fifa governorate, 51 kg of qat were seized. Border Guard patrols in Jazan's Al-Dayer sector arrested seven Yemenis for smuggling 140 kg of qat. In Asir's Al-Raboah sector, patrols foiled an attempt to smuggle 19 kg of hashish and arrested three Ethiopians with 75 kg of qat. Preliminary legal procedures were completed in all cases, and all seized items were handed to the relevant authorities. Authorities urged the public to report drug activity by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 elsewhere.
