Vivo X200 FE may launch in India soon: Specs, features and possible India price

India Today23-05-2025

Vivo is expected to launch a new smartphone in India under its X200 series, dubbed the Vivo X200 FE. This phone could very well complete the missing link that existed when the first batch of X200 series phones arrived in the country. When the X200 line-up launched in China, many assumed all three models — X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Pro Mini — would make it to India. However, Vivo skipped the 'Mini' version entirely, choosing only to introduce the standard and Pro variants. That now appears to be changing. Not because the X200 Pro Mini is finally arriving, but because the Vivo X200 FE is expected to fill that gap. While not officially branded the same, the X200 FE is likely a rebranded version of the S30 Pro Mini from China. advertisementThe Vivo X200 FE is rumoured to feature a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the handset is likely to be powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9400e chipset, an enhanced version of the Dimensity 9300+ chip. It is also expected to be available in storage variants going up to 16GB RAM and 512GB internal storage, though the Indian market will likely see a 12GB + 256GB variant priced at around Rs 50,000.Battery life seems to be another strong point. The X200 FE is tipped to pack a large 6,500mAh battery, backed by 90W fast charging support, which should comfortably get most users through a full day and then some, with minimal time plugged in. Vivo is also expected to retain some premium features such as a metal frame, dual stereo speakers, an IR blaster, and an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance. advertisement
Camera-wise, the phone could sport a triple rear setup headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX921 sensor with OIS, paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The front is said to feature a 50-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. In terms of software, expect to see Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. While Vivo has yet to confirm the launch, multiple reports suggest an India debut in July. Speaking of which, the smartphone was recently spotted on India's BIS certification website, suggesting an imminent launch. The X200 FE is also said to be available in grey and yellow colour options when it comes to India.

India key market for MediaTek; young demographic, growing economy fuel growth: Country MD

India's booming technology sector and the young, tech-savvy population are making the country a pivotal market for global semiconductor giant MediaTek, according to company's India MD Anku Jain. India's strong economic growth and favourable demographics are driving rapid adoption of advanced technologies like 5G, smart devices, and AI-powered solutions, he said. "India is a very important market for MediaTek because it is a very huge consumption story,we can see the demographics -- which is a very young population, we can see our economy growing very fast. All these components are making the market very attractive for us," Jain told PTI. Beyond smartphones, MediaTek's chipsets power many devices, including smart TVs, tablets, chromebooks, routers, and the smart home segment. Jain noted that the company is now expanding into new verticals such as automotive, recently partnering with JioThings to develop 4G smart clusters for the two-wheeler EV segment, and supplying infotainment systems for cars like Skoda Slavia and Tata Punch EV. The company is also exploring opportunities in satellite communications, with its chipsets poised to support evolving requirements as India's satellite and IoT ecosystem grows. As per Counterpoint Research, as of April 2025, MediaTek led India's smartphone chipset market with a 45 per cent share, followed by Qualcomm at 32 per cent. The company established its first R&D centre in India in 2004 and now employs over 1,000 engineers across its Bengaluru and Noida offices. The Taiwanese firm on Friday launched the MediaTek Dimensity 8450, a 5G smartphone chip with eight Arm Cortex-A725 cores and an Arm Mali-G720 MC7 GPU. Jain outlined MediaTek's commitment to further investment in the Indian market and continued expansion of its engineering teams. The company views its Indian R&D centres as extensions of its global operations, enabling it to address multiple technology verticals from within the country. "In the near future, we'll have the number of engineers keep increasing with time because we are coming up with new innovations and the talent pool in India, the engineering strength in India is very, very good for us," he said.

Samsung confirms Galaxy Buds Core launching soon in India, possibly before Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7

Samsung has all but confirmed the impending launch of its new wireless earphones, the Galaxy Buds Core, in India. The South Korean tech giant's social media teasers, featuring the tagline 'let the music move you to the core,' cleverly hint at the name, which has been circulating in rumours for some time. This once again proves how hard it is to maintain product secrecy in the current era. Support pages for the Galaxy Buds Core recently went live in various markets, including India. The earphones have also been spotted on the Bureau of India Standards (BIS) website, a crucial certification for electronics launched in the country. Samsung has now teased the release on X (formerly Twitter) with a post stating, "Brace yourself! The music is about to hit harder. Feel every note, every drop, every beat – louder, clearer, deeper. Dropping soon!" advertisementThe accompanying product silhouette in the teaser offers a clear look at the Galaxy Buds Core's design. The charging case appears strikingly similar to the existing Galaxy Buds 3, while the earbuds themselves seem to adopt a styling akin to the Galaxy Buds FE, suggesting a stem-less design. This would be a return to Samsung's more compact, utilitarian aesthetic seen in most of its earphones before the recent Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, which introduced a stem layout. However, earlier rumours had suggested a stem design for the Buds Core, so we'll have to wait and watch on the final form factor. The Galaxy Buds Core are widely expected to succeed the 2023 Galaxy Buds FE, positioning them as a more affordable alternative to the Galaxy Buds 3. It's currently unclear if a separate Galaxy Buds FE 2 will also be released. Speculation suggests the Core earphones will feature a larger battery for improved longevity, along with enhancements in audio quality and active noise cancellation (ANC) capabilities. With Samsung's official announcement, more details, including the exact launch timeline, are expected anytime now. Considering the "FE" history, the launch of the long-rumored Galaxy S25 FE might also be on the horizon. This new announcement also confirms a busy summer for Samsung, with the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, rumored for July 9, set to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and potentially an even more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Stay tuned for further updates.
