Berlin school evacuated as children suffer breathing difficulties amid 'irritant gas', police say
A Berlin primary school had to be evacuated after children began suffering side effects of an "irritant gas".
German police said they were called to the school at around 9am on Friday, with reports that several pupils were complaining of breathing difficulties.
It reported that the gas may have been released in a hallway of Miriam Makeba Elementary School in Moabit.
The city's fire department told Sky News that 37 children were affected. Of those seven required treatment, with one child taken to hospital.
In total, 400 pupils were evacuated from the premises as emergency services investigated.
"The building has been evacuated and ventilated," Berlin police wrote in a post on social media.
"Currently there is no longer any danger."

Police using drones and sniffer dogs to maintain control The brawl took place less than a week after Telegraph Sport revealed police drones, armed patrols and teams of sniffer dogs would be used to target troublemakers at this year's festival. Festivities spilt over into a handful of minor brawls last year, but police said they had a 'comprehensive' plan to keep arrests to a minimum at the meeting, which began on Tuesday. As with all major sporting events, cocaine-use among spectators has become an increasing concern for Royal Ascot in recent years. Police made 36 arrests during last year's festival, the vast majority off site. Allegations included assault, drink-driving and possession of class A drugs. The number of arrests was broadly consistent with previous years, with 35 in 2023. Police worked with Ascot Racecourse Limited and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead on this year's security plan. A security clampdown in 2018 led to the first widespread use of sniffer dogs near the main entrances as well as around bar and toilet areas at the site. This year's event has coincided with a heatwave that has led to hundreds of racegoers being treated at the course's medical centre. One spectator who fell ill with suspected heatstroke was sent to hospital on Tuesday, with crowds warned temperatures would reach 31C by Saturday.

Devon and Cornwall Police officer charged with raping woman
A Devon and Cornwall Police officer has been charged with James Rawlinson, 36, was postal requisitioned over one charge of raping a woman aged 16 or over, said Devon and Cornwall force said it related to an alleged incident while he was off-duty in Exeter in August said Sgt Rawlinson, who is based in Exeter, had been suspended and he was due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Teen banned from entering Gloucester after man is attacked
A 16-year-old boy has been banned from entering a city after an elderly man was assaulted. The teenager has been charged with assault after a 76-year-old man was attacked in Gloucester on Tuesday. The boy is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on 4 July. A 15-year-old boy from Gloucester has also been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released under investigation. It follows a number of reports of anti-social behaviour across the city in the last few weeks, police said. The force issued a dispersal order which ran until 20:00 BST on Thursday, enabling police to move individuals on from a designated area if they are causing a nuisance. If the individuals return to the area within 48 hours and refuse to leave, they can be part of his bail conditions, the Wolverhampton teenager has been banned from entering Gloucester ahead of his trial hearing.
