Adnan Sami HITS Back At Pakistan Trolls: ‘You Didn't Celebrate Me, India Did'

Adnan Sami calls backlash over Indian citizenship 'ex-lover syndrome,' saying critics haven't moved on. Says his issue was with Pakistan's govt, not people.
Renowned singer-composer Adnan Sami may have embraced Indian citizenship nearly a decade ago, but his decision continues to attract a barrage of online criticism, especially from across the border. Despite having moved to India in 2001 and being granted Indian citizenship in 2016, the UK-born artist—who once held Pakistani and Canadian citizenship—says he's still being reminded of where he 'originally came from."
In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the Tera Chehra hitmaker opened up about the lingering hate he receives on social media, especially from Pakistan. Comparing it to an emotionally unresolved breakup, Adnan said, 'It's like an ex-lover. When an ex-lover sees you moving on and getting involved with somebody else, they'll always come up with reasons to hate you. But the reason why they actually do that is because they still haven't gotten over you. It's love, and love manifests in many absurd ways."
He described the backlash as a 'classic case of sour grapes," explaining that the resentment stems from a place of jealousy rather than rationality, 'It is ridiculous for anyone from anywhere to presume that they know what the reasons were behind it. There were solid reasons."
While migration across borders is a common phenomenon globally, Sami believes the criticism aimed at him is unique to the India-Pakistan rivalry, 'At the end of the day, you can argue and say, 'People are migrating all over the world all the time. Why don't they have issues with them?' First of all, because of the geopolitical nature between India and Pakistan, there is a rivalry between the two for whatever reason. But more than that, it is the ex-lover syndrome."
Addressing the frequently blurred lines between the people and the political leadership of Pakistan, Adnan drew a distinction, 'That's just the tip of the iceberg. However, let me make it very clear, my audience and people over there have always been very loving. And they still are, and I love them very much even today. I'm very grateful to them for all the love that they've given me."
He reiterated that his long-standing frustration was with the Pakistani government, not its citizens, 'My issues have always been with the Pakistani government."
Despite being a globally known artist with a catalogue of hits to his name, Adnan revealed that the Pakistani government never recognised his contributions, 'They never acknowledged my work or honoured me in any way. That's just the tip of the iceberg."
For Adnan, the greatest reward has always been emotional rather than institutional, 'For an artiste, the biggest nourishment is love. So, from whichever corner of the world they get that love, they will be very grateful for it. My music is for everybody. I have not put any boundaries on my music. You want to listen to it? "Yoga is cure for many diseases": Dharmendra on International Yoga Day 2025
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 21 (ANI): On the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, veteran actor Dharmendra reflected on the significance of yoga, its deep roots in Indian civilisation, and how it has positively influenced his own life. Dharmendra spoke to ANI about the tradition of yoga and how it has become a vital part of personal and global well-being. The 'Sholay' actor credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing yoga worldwide, alongside yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who played an instrumental role in making yoga a global phenomenon. 'I think Modi ji started it, and before that, Ramdev ji also began this movement. Many people from other countries wanted to patent it, but it didn't happen. This is our civilisation, our culture, which has been going on for centuries. And it is necessary,' Dharmendra said. The actor emphasised that yoga is not just an exercise but a powerful remedy for various health issues. 'Yoga can cure many diseases. If you have breathing problems, remember that health is wealth,' he added, underlining yoga's role in both physical and mental wellness. Dharmendra, now in his 80s, expressed his continued enthusiasm for life and work despite the passing years. 'Many people call me old, but I am still young,' he said with a smile. The actor, who has long been associated with strength and vitality on screen, shared that his connection to fitness and health has been a lifelong pursuit. 'I used to dream of working hard and cycling. I would see my reflection in film posters and ask myself, 'What am I going to achieve?' I used to wake up at night and dream, and when I woke up in the morning, I would ask the mirror,' the actor said. Prosenjit Chatterjee On Sitaare Zameen Par's Theatre-Only Release: 'Aamir Can Take Risks'

Aamir Khan's film, Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to his beloved 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, finally released on June 20, 2025. The film, inspired by the Spanish hit Champions (2018), has been receiving rave reviews. The Bollywood superstar has decided that his latest film will never be released on any streaming platform. It will have a theatre-only release. Now, Prosenjit Chatterjee has lauded Aamir Khan for his approach to filmmaking. In a conversation with India Today, the veteran actor remarked that Aamir 'can take the risk" because he 'understands the pulse and sensibilities of the audiences." However, he also noted, 'nothing will change." Prosenjit said, 'He can take the risk. He has been serving the industry for many years, and he understands the pulse and sensibilities of the audiences." However, Prosenjit believes that Aamir's bold move is unlikely to bring about any real change. 'To save the theatrical business and cinema, he (Aamir Khan) is a person who can think this way or take this kind of risk. Nothing will change, a film will come on OTT and then on satellite television. That's how it works, that's how we reach our Indian audiences. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha earlier, Aamir Khan had shared his thoughts on how the fast shift to OTT after the pandemic has affected theatre business. He explained that releasing films too soon online takes away from the cinema experience, and he strongly believes that good films deserve to be seen on the big screen. In a candid conversation, Aamir Khan reflected on how the rise of OTT platforms has impacted the theatrical experience. 'I don't know any business where you offer your product, and if someone doesn't buy it, you tell them—don't worry, I'll drop it at your house for free in eight weeks," Aamir said, adding, 'It doesn't make sense to me. That's the reason many films aren't doing well in theatres." He described the current situation as a 'famine and feast" model where either a few films do extremely well or most don't work at all. He believes the early OTT release trend has weakened the theatrical culture and, therefore, made a conscious choice to keep his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par exclusive to theatres. 'I believe in theatres. I believe in my audience. If you make a good film, people will come to watch it on the big screen." Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy drama film directed by R. S. Prasanna, and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar will make their Hindi cinema debut with the film.
