Directed by Len Wiseman, Ballerina tells the gripping story of Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), a highly skilled assassin on a relentless quest for vengeance against those who destroyed her family. Set between the explosive events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, this latest installment expands the franchise's universe with the signature blend of pulse-pounding action, immersive world-building, and jaw-dropping stunts.
Ana de Armas' rise to the lead role is a powerful story in itself. Born in Cuba, she began her acting career in Spain, starring in Spanish-language films before making her English-language debut alongside Keanu Reeves in Knock Knock (2015)—a film she shot while still learning English on set. Nearly a decade later, she reunites with Reeves, not as a newcomer, but as a formidable action star in her own right.
STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
Reflecting on their collaboration, Keanu Reeves says, 'She's a wonderful actress, so talented. And that inner strength and motivation, being able to draw that up and to show that in the stillness of the scenes that we had together. She's quite a presence.'
Len Wiseman agrees: 'She's perfect for the role in many ways. What I love about this franchise series is that it is more of an actor-based action, and so we see the actors doing more of their own performance and choreography. And she was game with that.'
Ana didn't just embrace the role—she dove in headfirst.. From the very beginning, Ana insisted on undergoing intensive combat training and hands-on stunt work, determined to honor the high standards of the John Wick legacy. Her dedication is evident in every frame.
Ballerina released in theatres across India on June 13th, presented by PVRINOX Pictures in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. In contrast to the invincible superheroes that dominate the screen, Eve bleeds, fights back, and transforms—making her story all the more human and resonant.
With an ever-growing fan base for the John Wick universe in India, Ballerina is poised to become the next big theatrical obsession. As the countdown begins, one thing is certain—the action is just getting started.

Vir Das reviews Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par', finds it funny: 'Not just because it's a departure from action overload'
Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das known for wooing everyone with his wit, humour and sarcasm, is also loved by fans for always putting up his views honestly on social media. Vir has now penned his thoughts on Aamir Khan 's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' which released in cinemas on Friday, June 20. The film is a remake of the Spanish film 'Champions' and stars disabled kids, apart from Aamir and Genelia D'souza Deshmukh. Vir penned his thoughts about the movie and seemed really impressed by it. He wrote, "Folks! Go see #SitaareZameenPar Not just because it's REALLY good and breezy. Not just because the ensemble wins your heart. Not just because it's someone of massive stature constantly sharing his platform for meaningful content. Not just because it's a departure from the action overload. But also because it's genuinely funny. In a comedy scene one party has to hold power and drive. That's basic comedy 101. The best comedy surprises you with that choice. It wears its heart on its sleeve and gives power, prominence, and punch lines to those comedy normally doesn't. That makes it WAY funnier. Go see it! In theatres now." The film was expected to have an opening number in single digit as it was not meant for the masses but more for the classes. Trade analysts had predicted the movie to score in the range of Rs 7-8 crore on day 1. However, it surpassed those expectations and made around Rs 11.7 crore according to Sacnilk. Due to good word of mouth, the film may see some growth on Saturday and Sunday.

Aamir Khan's decision to not release Sitaare Zameen Par on OTT platforms just eight weeks after it hit the theatre has garnered praise from Prosenjit Chatterjee. Talking about Aamir's different approach, Prosenjit said, "He can take the risk. He has been serving the industry for many years, and he understands the pulse and sensibilities of the audiences." Prosenjit, however, thinks that this move of Aamir won't bring about any change. "To save the theatrical business and cinema, he (Aamir Khan) is a person who can think this way or take this kind of risk. Nothing will change, a film will come on OTT and then on satellite television. That's how it works, that's how we reach our Indian audiences. But let's see how this goes (Sitaare Zameen Par's only-cinema model), and I hope it works," added Prosenjit. What Aamir had said about Sitaare Zameen Par's release Recently, Aamir told India Today about exclusively releasing the film in theatres. 'I am a loyalist of cinema, and I believe in it. Yes, it's a big risk, and there's a lot [of money] involved. If I don't get that chunk of my pre-sales, and the film doesn't work, it could lead to a major loss. I did receive offers, but I turned them down because I want audiences to go to theatres and watch my film. I believe in cinema, and I believe in my audience," he added. As per trade analyst Komal Nahta, Aamir has turned down an offer of ₹ 120 crore from Amazon Prime Video for the digital rights of the film. Komal, writing for Film Information, said that Aamir has "decided to try and change the game" for films releasing in theatres. Komal said that Aamir wants people to experience the release of a film in theatres.
