Fifi Box breaks down in tears live on-air after emotional update about a sick child

Daily Mail14-05-2025

Fifi Box was unable to contain her emotion on Wednesday after receiving an emotional update about Underdogs star Elijah.
Elijah is one of 14 children selected to participate in her show The Fox's Fifi, Fev and Nick's Underdogs: Basketball Edition initiative.
The Underdogs are a group of children who have been excluded from sport due to bullying or illness.
Elijah joined the team after missing out on sport due to serious kidney complications that required a transplant.
On Wednesday, Fifi was brought to tears when Elijah's mum Jess phoned in to give an update on the little sport star's condition.
Jess revealed that after four attempts, Elijah has undergone a successful kidney transplant.
'Some exciting news - Elijah had his fourth planned transplant and it finally went ahead last Thursday,' Jess revealed.
'He received his new kidney and it went better than the doctors could have ever expected.'
Overjoyed at the news, Fifi asked Jess how little Elijah was doing post-op and his mum revealed that he's 'kicking goals every day'.
'He's doing so amazing. He's kicking goals every day,' Jess excitedly revealed.
'He's reaching the new milestones, yesterday he got out of bed and went for a walk to the ward window. He's a superstar! He's amazing, he's inspiring,'
Fifi broke down in tears adding that Jess, too, was an inspiration.
'Jess… so are you,' an emotional Fifi said.
'Because as a Mum…that was four attempts at a kidney replacement and the thing is you know it's going to happen. But that doesn't mean it's going to be successful.'
'It has taken and he is thriving… it doesn't always work out. We couldn't be happier for you Jess and your whole family. Give Elijah a big cuddle for us,' she added.
Jess was also quick to thank Fifi and co-hosts Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody for having such a positive impact in Elijah.
'He has touched so many people throughout his journey, but I don't think you guys truly understand the positive impact that you've imprinted in his life,' she said.
'He feels courageous, he feels strong, he feels so important because you guys care so much about him. You check in on him.'
Back in November, Elijah and the Underdogs were given the chance of a lifetime taking centre court at Melbourne's John Cain Arena to play a halftime game in front of a packed NBL crowd.
It comes after Fifi recently revealed how a harrowing ordeal that saw her leap into action to save a baby's life, left her traumatised.
Recounting the horrific story on her Fox FM Fifi, Fev and Nick show in April, the radio star told co-hosts Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody that that incident occurred during a family holiday to the Maldives.
'We were in the pool non-stop. But something happened one day in the pool and I thought if I told you boys, you might not believe me,' Fifi explained.
'So, I found myself a witness, a lovely Australian couple, Emma and Pete from Brisbane.'
'We were drinking our Pina Colada's by the pool. You were in the water with [youngest daughter] Daisyand a little girl had spent a lot of time floating around on her own,' Emma explained.
'Someone yelled, "Oh my god, she's gone under!" You turned around, picked her up, and plucked her out of the water. It was very confronting and scary to see.'
When Brendan Fevola asked Emma if his co-host had saved the lucky child's life, Emma said if Fifi hadn't been there, the situation may've taken a darker turn.
'She did [save the baby's life] because her parents weren't in the pool with her - they were on their sun lounge,' Emma said.
'She was probably three, she wasn't in floaties, just a floating ring, and I think she had slipped out.'
Fifi added that the incident had affected her and daughter Daisy so much, they had to leave the pool.
'There was deathly silence around the pool for minutes afterwards. I started crying and had to leave - Daisy and I left because it was too confronting,' she said.
'I was the only adult in the pool and I turned around; she would have been 10 metres from me but under the water.

MCoBeauty founder Shelley Sullivan reveals the truth behind $1billion beauty brand deal - and how much she profited from the sale

Shelley Sullivan, the woman behind Australia's fastest-growing beauty label MCoBeauty, has spoken candidly about what it meant to sell her business earlier this year. The entrepreneur, whose budget-friendly beauty empire has become a cult favourite among Aussie celebrities, confirmed that while the business was valued at $1billion, the real takeaway for her and her team was far from what the public might assume. 'I wish,' she told Stellar Magazine on Sunday when asked whether she personally pocketed that amount. 'The business could be valued at $1 billion but that's not necessarily a reflection on what the people that are exiting get.' Shelley explained that MCoBeauty's lofty valuation was based on its performance and earning potential rather than a direct windfall for herself. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She emphasised that factors like the brand's rapid growth, earnings trajectory and overall market trends contributed to the billion-dollar figure, not a simple sale price. Despite stepping back from day-to-day operations, the beauty boss hasn't completely walked away. She remains an avid supporter, watching from the sidelines with pride as the brand continues to thrive under new leadership. 'I'm still very much a fan of the brand,' she said. 'Running a business that grew so quickly was a lot… exhilarating and exciting, but at times exhausting.' Shelley admitted that she's now enjoying a well-earned break after years of hustle. The journey to the top wasn't without sacrifices - long hours, relentless pressure and the weight of expectations were all part of the grind. Driven by a clear goal to dominate the beauty market with affordable on-trend products, Shelley and her team worked tirelessly to turn MCoBeauty into the powerhouse it is today. The business' explosive growth made it a major player on supermarket shelves and in the competitive beauty landscape, rivalling premium brands at a fraction of the cost. She credits the brand's success to a razor-sharp focus on innovation and consumer demand, paired with savvy partnerships and bold marketing. But even with the monumental valuation and market domination, Shelley remains grounded and spends time focusing on family and slowing down than big-dollar headlines. Reflecting on her business journey, she concluded: 'We had a vision to create Australia's fastest-growing beauty brand. 'But I don't think myself, the family and the team ever thought beyond our wildest dreams that that's what we would create.'

Simone Holtznagel speaks out about social media trolls and her fears for daughter Gia: 'It's already terrible and brutal'

Simone Holtznagel has shared her concerns about the dangers of social media, revealing she already fears the impact it could have on her young daughter as she grows up in an increasingly digital world. The 31-year-old, who welcomed her daughter Gia last year, admitted she's already thinking about how the online world might affect her little girl when she's older. 'I definitely worry about social media with Gia, not right now but when she goes to school and gets older,' she told The Daily Telegraph on Sunday. 'It is already terrible and brutal so who knows what it is going to be like by then.' Holtznagel, who rose to fame as a contestant on Australia's Next Top Model and has since become a staple in the fashion and influencer space, knows all too well the toxic underbelly of the internet. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She's been the target of online trolls herself and says the experience has made her more vocal when it comes to standing up to bullying. While many suffer in silence, she said she's grateful to have the platform and confidence to call out abusive behaviour - something not everyone feels empowered to do. Though she admits she's developed a thick skin over the years, Holtznagel says the intensity of online criticism continues to shock her. From cruel remarks about her appearance to unsolicited opinions about her parenting, the model has copped it all - and it's made her more protective than ever. The new mum now uses her experiences to advocate for greater kindness online and hopes social media platforms will evolve to offer better protections by the time her daughter reaches school age. Simone previously dated celebrity personal trainer Jono, 34, and they welcomed their daughter before ending things late last year. Jono has since moved on with Love Triangle star Emily Ryder, with the two debuting their relationship on social media. Last month, Jono was spotted enjoying a romantic night out with Emily at the Sydney Opera House. The pair have reportedly been dating for several months and are taking things 'very slowly'. Sources close to the couple say Jono and Emily bonded over their shared passion for fitness and adventure, and are often seen working out together. While the couple have kept their relationship relatively low-key until now, insiders claim they are 'absolutely smitten' and looking forward to spending even more time together. Jono and Simone dated for almost two years after meeting through Sydney's social scene and share Gia, one, together. The trainer, who owns the Acero fitness brand, remains one of Australia's most in-demand celebrity trainers, having worked with the likes of Rebel Wilson, Rita Ora and Michael Clarke.
