Springsteen Deliver Me From Nowhere trailer: Jeremy Allen White is aiming for the stars in this musical biopic
Springsteen Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White, dropped its trailer on Wednesday and it is exactly what the fans were hoping for. Here, we see Jeremy playing Bruce Springsteen, in the much anticipated film and if his performance in The Bear hasn't impressed people already, it seems like this will push him to the upper echelon of Hollywood. In the last few years, actors in popular musical biopics have ended up becoming Oscar nominees, and sometimes winners as well, and if this biopic is everything that it seems to be, this could be Jeremy's year.
Apart from Jeremy, the film also stars Jeremy Strong as his manager, Stephen Graham as his father, Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young among other actors. The film is directed by Scott Cooper, based on the book 'Deliver Me from Nowhere' by Warren Zanes. The film doesn't look like a traditional biopic that traces the entire life of the singer but follows him during the making of his 'Nebraska' album, with bits and pieces from childhood that left a mark on his identity.
In 2024, Timothee Chalamet appeared in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, that scored him many accolades, and he was also a frontrunner at the Oscars, which was ultimately won by Adrien Brody for The Brutalist. In 2022, Austin Butler played Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis and while the film received polarised reactions, Austin's performance was unanimously praised, and he too, scored an Oscar nomination, but ultimately lost to Brendan Fraser for The Whale. In 2019, Rami Malek, who was until then best known for his work in the television show Mr Robot, won the Best Actor award at the Oscars for playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.
In an earlier chat with Sirius XM, Springsteen said that he found that Jeremy 'sings very well.' Gaby Hoffmann, who plays young Bruce's mother on the film, previously told Screen Rant that even though she hadn't seen Jeremy perform, she had heard that Springsteen was awed when he first heard the actor sing. 'I even heard that Bruce couldn't believe that what he was hearing wasn't his own voice when he heard Jeremy sing,' she said.
Springsteen Deliver Me From Nowhere is scheduled to release in theatres on October 24. Jeremy Allen White is currently waiting for the release of the fourth season of The Bear on June 25. In India, the show premieres on JioHotstar.

Slumdog Millionaire Director Danny Boyle Says, "We Wouldn't Be Able To Make That Now..."
Washington DC: Filmmaker Danny Boyle may have won a Best Picture Oscar for his 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire, but the director believes they wouldn't be able to make that film in the present time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 28 Years Later director reflected on the Oscar-winning film that starred Dev Patel and Freida Pinto. "Yeah, we wouldn't be able to make that now," he said of the film. "And that's how it should be. It's time to reflect on all that. We have to look at the cultural baggage we carry and the mark that we've left on the world," as per the outlet. When asked whether the production itself amounted to a form of colonialism, the director denied that but added, "Well, only in the sense that everything is. At the time, it felt radical. We made the decision that only a handful of us would go to Mumbai. We'd work with a big Indian crew and try to make a film within the culture. But you're still an outsider. It's still a flawed method. That kind of cultural appropriation might be sanctioned at certain times. But at other times it cannot be." Boyle shared that he is "proud of the film" but noted, "You wouldn't even contemplate doing something like that today. It wouldn't even get financed. Even if I was involved, I'd be looking for a young Indian film-maker to shoot it," according to The Hollywood Reporter. At the time, Slumdog Millionaire was a box office hit and went on to earn 10 Oscar nominations and win eight Academy Awards at the 2009 ceremony. Boyle won for best director. On Friday, Boyle returns to theatres with 28 Years Later, a sequel that arrives more than twenty years after he and writer Alex Garland revitalised the zombie genre with 28 Days Later, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
