Sky faces another new rival that will offer UK homes a free way to watch TV
Sky is facing stiff competition from the new Freely TV service and now there are even more screens that feature this streaming service.
If you want to watch TV without needing an aerial or dish stuck to your chimney then you won't find a much better option than Sky Glass. This premium telly platform, which also now includes a cheaper Glass Air telly, lets homes tune into hundreds of live and on-demand channels via a broadband connection.
It's a tough TV to beat but it is being rivalled by Freely. This service launched last year and also offers an instant way to watch TV shows without an aerial. Since it was first unveiled, the list of telly manufacturers making Freely-powered screens has been increasing and now there's even more good news for those considering switching to it.
It's just been announced that smart TVs powered by the Roku operating system will soon get Freely pre-installed. That means UK homes wanting to access the streaming platform will be able to choose Roku-powered models made by Sharp, JVC, METZ and Polaroid.
This new partnership will bring Freely together with the Roku experience and offer advanced features including personalised content and discovery tools.
Speaking about the changes, Jonathan Thompson, CEO, Everyone TV, said: 'Offering freely on the Roku operating system is a major milestone for us, as we continue to expand reach for the free streaming platform.
"We're delighted that as a huge global player, Roku has recognised the importance of easy and seamless access to public service broadcast content for UK audiences and I look forward to seeing Freely smart TVs with Roku in market this summer.'
Does Freely fully match the Sky Glass experience?
Freely does offer a comprehensive TV guide, recommendations and even a new backwards telly feature which lets you go back in time to find things to watch.
It's fully powered by your broadband and even offers the ability to pause live TV.
Once the compatible TV has been purchased, there are no monthly fees to pay, so you can watch shows, sports and movies without reaching for the credit card.

It's a decent way to watch the telly, but Freely can't match Sky when it comes to channels and overall features. Sky Glass offers instant access to premium channels, and there is also better integration with streaming platforms such as Netflix and Disney+.
The firm's clever Playlists function also lets you store shows and movies to watch at a later date. One final thing to note is that Sky has worked hard on reducing the latency when watching live sport - that's something Freely can't currently match.

The device costs less than £200 to buy outright at retailers like Amazon, but not everyone will want to pay that much upfront. Amazon currently has it on sale for £160, but Sky's plan offers a decent alternative for splitting the cost into what feels like more affordable payments each month. The 11-inch screen tablet is being dished out on Sky for £5 a month, thanks to a new deal by the TV and broadband provider. There are alternatives to consider, however. Shoppers could spend a bit more on the Samsung Galaxy S9 FE for £449, complete with a free S Pen. Alternatively, for £17 a month, Apple fans can get the 11-inch iPad Air device with the new M3 chip. Shoppers have fallen in love with the tablet, with stellar reviews on Amazon and other retailers. One shopper said: "I bought this as a companion for my Pixel phone, mostly for watching movies at home while the kids monopolise the TV. I have noticed that while at home, I'm now doing most things on it as when connected to my phone it sends texts (WhatsApp and normal texts) and makes WhatsApp calls. But one shopper added: "I was not overly impressed with the display, and some video is not very 'bright', but overall the A9 is ok, and it is a Samsung, so I know the build is good quality." Apple MacBook Air with M4 chip Sky is offering the device at £22 per month. This 48-month contract includes the MacBook Air with Apple's fastest and latest chip and a storage capacity of 256 GB. It comes with the latest M4 chip promises smooth performance for all your needs, boasting up to 18 hours of battery life and built-in Apple Intelligence to help users accomplish tasks effortlessly. Customers have a choice of four stunning colours, including Sky Blue, Midnight and Silver. Shoppers want to hunt around for other deals, there are plenty of things to choose from. Argos currently has a special offer on this Acer Aspire i5 laptop for £549 for Windows fans. Meanwhile, Apple users can get a refurbished M2 MacBook Air from BackMarket for £731. Tech experts at the Daily Express reviewed the M4 MacBook Air earlier in March, and to say they were impressed would be an understatement- they awarded it a full five stars. However, tech editor David Snelling noted: "Yes, it's a bit of a shame that you only get two USB-C ports on one side of the device. Although it starts from a cheaper £999, it can get expensive if you start adding extras." Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra Sky is allowing shoppers who don't want to spend more than £1,000 at once on the newest Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra to spread the cost down to £30 a month, with £300 cashback to be claimed as well. Samsung has launched its Shine Bright campaign, which means shoppers who buy certain products can also get a big chunk of cash in their accounts. After buying certain products, Samsung fans just have to go here and claim their £300 cashback. If this Sky deal seems tempting, shoppers can buy the tablet here, then go to Samsung's promotional page here and log a claim. Although the claim window closes on June 24. Samsung is also offering £100 cashback on the Galaxy Watch Ultra, meaning this Amazon purchase will cost £399. Samsung is also handing out £200 cashback on the Galaxy S25 Ultra phone f rom Samsung here, including £200 trade-in credit on old phones. The team at the Daily Express reviewed the Samsung Galaxy S10 Ultra model right here and sung its praises. As David Snelling said: "Is the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra a brilliant tablet? 100% yes! But he did note: "No matter how good it is, that 14.6-inch panel is just too big for me, especially when travelling, and that's important as this is the time, like most people, when I use my tablet the most."

Shoppers rush to grab Samsung tablet offer with up to £350 off
There are lots of ways to get the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ for less, but you'll have to move fast The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ is a great device, offering a 12.4-inch display and a slim design, packed with the latest Galaxy AI skills from Samsung. It's a premium tablet, but it's also versatile offering both entertainment and laptop-replacement skills. But you need to shop carefully because although there's a number of deals on this tablet, some retailers are cheaper than others. These discounts include big network offerings from the likes of Sky and O2, but I'm going to dig into how to get this tablet as cheaply as possible. It all starts with £200 cashback that Samsung is offering. This is a limited-time deal that only runs until 24 June 2025, where you can claim back £200 from Samsung if you buy your tablet from particular retailers - and this is what really makes this tablet attractive, beating previous prices. Then there's £150 trade-in on any tablet or Android smartphone, so you could get the Wi-Fi version of this tablet for £649 from Samsung, a saving of £350. Again, both the £200 cashback and the £150 trade-in only apply if you've bought the Galaxy Tab S10+ by 24 June, so you'll have to move fast if you want the cheapest price. Buying direct from Samsung is the easiest option, as although other retailers like Amazon and Argos are offering the same £200 cashback offer, but not all offer the same trade-in deals. To claim your cashback, you'll have the register the purchase on Samsung's offers website. That's not the only way to buy this tablet and there are offers from other retailers too. Sky is also honouring the £200 cashback, but it only sells the 5G version of this tablet, which is more expensive. Sky's offer means you can get the Galaxy Tab S10+ for £25 a month, but that's on a 48-month contract. Sky offers a 100MB data SIM at £0 a month, but then there are various options for data, if you want a connection on the move. It's a little more expensive than buying from Samsung direct, but you're paying monthly rather than in one lump sum. Again, you'd have to claim the cashback after you buy the tablet. Alternatively, O2 is promoting £265 off the price of the Galaxy Tab S10+, where you can get it from £32 a month, the difference here being that it comes with 1GB of data. That's the cheapest option, but there are also offers on 10GB or 100GB too. Overall, the O2 deal is more expensive than Sky, with the savings coming off the data plan rather than the cost of the tablet itself. Key here is that O2 is not on the list of retailers for cashback, so you lose that £200 incentive that you get from Sky. However, if you're really interested in the 5G version of the Tab S10+, the best way to buy it is from Samsung direct. That way you can apply the £200 cashback and have the option for £150 trade-in, meaning the tablet is £799 - you can then add a much cheaper data SIM, like this 10GB plan from Smarty for £5 a month - which is a 1-month plan, with no long contract. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ is powered by the Dimensity 9300+ chipset which is powerful hardware for day to day use. Combined with a big battery, you get up to 16 hours of video watching time, while the AMOLED display is vibrant and detailed, with a 120Hz refresh rate and an anti-reflective coating to make use in bright conditions better. It comes with the S Pen in the box so you can write or sketch directly on the display, while it also features Samsung's DeX - desktop experience - which is great for multi-tasking, as you can run apps in windows like you can on a laptop. Best of all, Samsung offers 7-years of software updates on the Galaxy Tab S10+, so it's a tablet that's going to last you a long time. Obviously it's not the cheapest though, so if you're on more of a budget Amazon stocks the Amazon Fire HD 8 for £99.99.
