People left horrified over how much a DAY at Disneyland really costs for a family of five

Daily Mail05-05-2025

A father who took his family of five on a day-trip to Orlando's Walt Disney World resort revealed the eye-watering total cost of their outing.
The man, from Florida, U.S., took to social media to break down the family's outgoings throughout the day, which later sparked a heated debate among viewers about the importance of budgeting.
In a video, reposted by @financedystop on X, the father documented the price of the family's tickets, parking, meals and snacks, as well as the staggering cost of items in souvenir shops.
Before the family entered the park, the father revealed he forked out $30/£22 for all-day parking.
After heading inside, the man claimed that for a family of five, with one child under ten, they had paid a total of $974/£733 for tickets to enter the resort.
He added: 'The lightning lane (fast track) was $35/£26 per person and would have given us speed access to three rides, so we opted out of that.'
After their first ride, the family quenched their thirst with two bottles of water and three ice-creams, totalling $29.50/£22.
Soon after, one of the father's sons asked to buy a pretzel, while he bought himself a beer, altogether costing $19/£14.30.
They went on to explore some of the souvenir shops, where the father revealed the price of a Star Wars lightsaber - and at $44.99/£33.52, he explained that purchasing the item for his son was a 'hard no.'
At lunchtime, the family stopped by Pizzerizzo at the park, where they each tucked into a personal-sized pizza, a side and a small soft drink, setting them back $44.35/£33.41.
After their meal, they made their way to the Star Wars: Galaxy Edge park, and it wasn't long before the family were lured into sampling a $10.29/£7.75 'Blue Milk' drink, a notable beverage that first appeared in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, in 1977.
The family spent some time jumping on rides and meeting their favourite characters, such as Kylo Ren, before stopping off to buy more drinks and snacks, including a $6.50/£4.90 Star Wars-themed Coca Cola, and a churro, margarita and water for $36/£27.
As their day was coming to a close, the father revealed the family decided to have dinner at Frontera Cocina, a contemporary Mexican restaurant at Disney Springs.
For a wallet-busting $245.27/£184, the group knocked back soft drinks and margheritas and tucked into dishes such as carne asada, carnitas, corn, quesadillas, and more.
The family then decided to make their way home, but not before the father concluded: 'The grand total for our day was $1391.91 (£1,048.60). Would you spend that much on a day at Disney?
The shocking total cost of the family's day out sparked thousands of mixed responses from viewers in the comments, with many criticising the father for spending an 'outrageous' amount of money on food.

One person wrote: 'Well the main issue is all y'all do is eat. Y'all bought enough food & drinks to feed a small village.'
Another added, 'Heaven forbid they're not constantly eating lol. Could have eliminated most of those meals with intermittent fasting or just eating in the car on the way there.'
A third commented: 'If this guy was trying to go to Disney cheap he did it horribly wrong. Yes food inside the park is outrageous. You can bring your own food.'
Another chimed, 'This guy has no control over his family's consumption,' while a fellow viewer added, 'Waste of time and money. Go somewhere else….Puerto Vallarta is way better than this for a family.'
One viewer suggested the family visit Universal Studios, as it's 'better and cheaper,' while another wrote: 'Actually that isn't as bad as I thought. I was expecting it to be a whole lot more.'
Finally, a third warned: 'When you don't plan or take advantage of any of the packages and stay at their resorts, etc. then everything like this will be overpriced/ a la carte. For a bit more he could stay there for 4-5 days and actually budget plan.'

Seaside creperie's Gallic flair in charming Anglesey village

It's quite easy to find Mojo's restaurant in Rhosneigr. It's opposite Scarlett's Fish & Chip bar and Gecko, a shop selling beach products and renting out surf boards. You come across it if you've parked in the village and are heading towards the beach. I called in on a sunny Wednesday lunchtime last week. It's been operating for some years and is continuing with its French-themed dishes on its pleasingly diverse menu. You can expect galettes and crepes among the more traditional choices of Chicken club sandwich, Smashed avocado on toast and Rocky Road dessert. The galettes - a pancake made with organic buckwheat flour and served with salad and slaw - include ones with Steak, mushrooms and blue cheese (£13.50) and a Yellow Dot galette with cheese, Welsh ham and a local free range egg yolk. (£12.95). However my heart sank as it seemed busy from the look of the packed, outdoor tables and I worried about getting a seat but almost all the indoor tables were available. I sat there and checked the menu. There's a good range of sandwiches and ciabattas. Steak ciabatta with caramelised onions (£15.95), Halloumi with homemade chilli jam and lettuce ciabatta (£12.50) sounded good, as did the Welsh ham & cheese ciabatta (£11.50). But I liked the idea of a Bloody Mary Prawn open sandwich. It was described as "Atlantic prawns with rustic tomato sauce, mayonnaise, hint of vodka, baby gem lettuce (in a) fresh, multigrain open sandwich." The prawns were lovely and soft, and sprinkled with paprika. The "hint of vodka" may have been there but wasn't noticeable to me, and the lettuce was rocket on this occasion. It was a lovely, well-presented, light meal. There was a nice touch - a warm, grilled lemon which when squeezed over the seafood really gave those prawns some zesty piquancy. The slice of brown bread was fresh. Desserts here include a Canadian pancake Stack with four light and fluffy pancakes for £8. Customers can add a rasher of "streaky bacon" for £2. I was impressed that extra toppings like strawberries and bananas only cost £1 each. The crepes included Rocky Road (£8.50) with chocolate pieces, biscuit, marshmallows and chocolate sauce, and Biscoff (£9.50). This had "clotted cream, ice cream and Biscoff crumble" and I ordered that. The crepe was doughy and warm and came with a sauce and a sprinkling of Biscoff crumbs rather than crumble as such. Personally I would have referred a more conventional, thicker crumble. Checking with the hardworking chef Jeff later he said the sauce was a Biscoff sauce. It was pleasant enough. The vanilla ice cream worked better with the crepe than the what seemed to be whipped cream on my visit, because its sweetness contrasted nicely with the savoury dough. The choice of drinks at the bar includes Brooklyn - The Stonewall Inn IPA, and Birrificio Angelo Poretti lager (4.8pc) aswell as products from The Rhosneigr Gin Company. Mojo's interior is unpretentious. There's a wooden floor with tables and bar made from planks of timber. In keeping with the coastal setting there are prints of a turtle and shell on the wall, and even a bizarre, seaweed, themed lampshade. I'd definitely call in again. Mojo's is a cut above your average seaside eaterie. A visit here sets you up nicely to explore this charming village and Rhosneigr's two beaches Traeth Crigyll and Traeth Llydan. The facts Location: Mojo's restaurant, bar & creperie, 7 Marine Terrace, High Street, Rhosneigr, Anglesey, LL64 5UQ. Tel.: 01407 810737. Open Monday to Wednesday 10am till 4pm, Thursday and Friday 10am till 10pm, Saturday 9.30am till 10pm, Sunday 9.30am till 5pm. Food: Well-presented and tasty with a large, diverse menu Service: Attentive and prompt The bill: Bloody Mary prawn open sandwich (£13) and Biscoff crepe (£9.50), fresh orange (£3), and Americano (£3.60). Total: £29.10. Verdict: Tres bien.

Glen Powell visits Glasgow cinema while filming Hollywood blockbuster

Hollywood star Glen Powell paid a visit to a Glasgow cinema amid filming a new blockbuster in the city. The Twisters star was seen filming a bus stunt scene in Glasgow this week as shooting takes place for the American fantasy titled Ghostwriter. Filming for the movie by former Star Wars director JJ Abrams started in Glasgow on Saturday after principal photography began in London on April 26. The crew previously filmed scenes in Edinburgh. Glasgow is said to be doubling as a futuristic New York for the movie, which also stars Samuel L Jackson, Emma Mackey, and Jenna Ortega. Produced by Warner Bros, the film marks Abrams' first project since Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker in 2019. Filming is taking place throughout the city in June with a number of roads closed between June 8 and 23. Glasgow City Council says the project will bring millions to the local economy. On Thursday evening, Powell visited the Grosvenor Picture Theatre in Ashton Lane and snapped a picture. A post by the cinema on Instagram read: 'We were delighted to welcome a special guest to the Grosvenor Picture Theatre last night – actor Glen Powell. 'Glen is currently in town shooting JJ Abrams' Ghostwriter, and couldn't resist a visit to the iconic Grosvenor Picture Theatre it seems. 'Thanks for joining us.'
