IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu urged global stakeholders to partner with Telangana, which has emerged as one of the fastest-growing states in the country, with a GDP of Rs 16.12 lakh crore at a growth rate of 10.1%—higher than the national average of 9.9% — in just a decade since its formation.
Speaking at the Global Leaders' Summit 2025, he said per capita income in Telangana stands at Rs 3.79 lakh, which is nearly 1.8 times the national average. He also said the services sector now contributes 66.3% to the state's GDP as against the national average of 55%.
He said in the past 18 months alone, the state attracted investments exceeding Rs 3 lakh crore, with just the life sciences sector drawing Rs 40,000 crore and creating over 2 lakh new jobs.
"Many doubted whether Telangana could be formed — today, it is not just a reality, it is unstoppable. These are not just numbers, they are the reflection of a new Telangana — progressive, inclusive, and future-ready," Sridhar Babu said.
Addressing delegates from around 25 countries, including Brazil, Germany, Russia, Cameroon, Malta, the UK, Bulgaria, Belgium and the UAE, he said: "While other states follow trends — Telangana creates them. So don't just come here to invest. Come to co-create. Be a part of a transformative journey."
He said Telangana was keen to collaborate globally in areas such as agro-innovation, AI-driven governance, smart healthcare systems, digital farming, future-ready education, sustainable manufacturing, and clean energy.

Sebi fines IAGF, trustee and managers ₹29 lakh for AIF rule breaches

Capital markets regulator Sebi has imposed penalties totalling Rs 29 lakh on six entities, including India Asset Growth Fund, its manager Essel Finance Advisors and Managers, and trustee Vistra ITCL (India) for multiple violations of AIF rules. The regulator levied a fine of Rs 11 lakh on IAGF, Rs 10 lakh on Arpan Sarkar and Jaykishan Kikani (jointly and severally), Rs 6 lakh on Vistra ITCL (India), and Rs 2 lakh on Essel Finance Advisors and Managers (EFAM), its Chief Executive Officer Vishnu Prakash Rathore (jointly and severally). The regulator, in a 39-page order, found the entities guilty of serious lapses in regulatory compliance during the inspection period from April 2021 to March 2022, Sebi said in the order on Friday. The markets watchdog observed that India Asset Growth Fund (IAGF) failed to disclose disciplinary actions and litigation history of its sponsor, manager, trustee, and key officials in its placement memorandum (PPM), as mandated under the norms. Later, the fund submitted a revised PPM containing such disclosures during a change of control application, which was neither approved nor circulated to investors, resulting in a breach of the disclosure framework of the code of conduct of the alternative investment fund (AIF) regulations. Sebi also pulled up the fund for providing valuations based on underlying assets instead of the securities it held, as well as for delayed registration with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND), non-disclosure of the investor charter and distribution waterfall, and a 10-day delay in filing its PPM audit report. The regulator found that the fund took over a month to respond to an investor grievance, breaching the 30-day deadline. It noted that although the fund eventually completed the winding-up process and distributed proceeds to all investors by January 2024, the regulatory breaches were material. The regulator concluded that the violations had the potential to mislead investors, and disrupt regulatory oversight of AIFs. Sebi highlighted that EFAM being manager of IAGF is responsible for such non-compliances. It noted that Rathore, Sarkar and Kikani were the key managerial personnel who failed to abide by the code of conduct as per the rules. Therefore, the allegations against them stand established.

Tejashwi Yadav says Bihar polls will be

Patna (Bihar) [India], June 22 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has said that the coming Bihar assembly will be an 'election for change' and accused the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of doing little for Bihar in their rule, saying the state continues to face several challenges including poverty and unemployment. He attacked Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the ruling alliance should spell out one development indicator in which Bihar is number one in the country. He said that despite Janata Dal-Untied leader Nitish Kumar being in power for nearly 20 years and Narendra Modi serving as Prime Minister for 11 years, Bihar continues to remain at the bottom in key indicators such as per capita income and education. 'Bihar is number one in poverty, unemployment, has maximum migration, it is lowest in per capita income, per capita investment, we are far behind in healthcare, education,' he said. Tejashwi Yadav said that RJD and other allies of Mahagathbandhan are ready for the assembly polls later this year. 'We were ready last time also, this election is going to be election of change,' he said, adding that they lost the previous assembly polls by a narrow vote margin. The former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister claimed that as per NCRB data, crime incidents have increased since 2005 in the state. Targeting PM Modi, he said the Prime Minister promises to make every election-bound state 'number one state' in the country. 'Don't know which state will be number two, three...', he said. 'People gave Nitish Kumar 20 years to serve the state and PM Modi has been Prime Minister for 11 years. They have done nothing for Bihar. PM said they will give special is it, people of Bihar want to know, they country has not seen a better actor and person speaking lies than Modiji,' he alleged. Tejashwi Yadav alleged that PM Modi has not fulfilled promises of bringing back black money, people getting Rs 15 lakh in their accounts and two crore jobs being generated annually. He also alleged that promises concerning Housing for All and on construction of toilets have remained unfulfilled. Asked about BJP-led repeatedly getting mandate of people at the Centre and also in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav claimed it is due to 'propaganda' and alleged that 'all institutions have been hijacked'. He also made light of announcements in the union budget for Bihar, saying old schemes have been announced and can't be counted as special package. The RJD leader said that Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh is a MP from Bihar but when textile parks (PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel - PM MITRA) were announced, there was none for the state. 'Out of nine parks, none have been allocated to Bihar. There are so many union ministers from Bihar...,' he said. Asked about a whole list of development works cited by BJP and JD-U leaders and their assertions that migration has decreased, the number of schools increased, and paper leaks have stopped, Tejashwi Yadav asked if there was any exam without paper leak except for the period when he was Deputy Chief Minister in the coalition government. 'During the 17 months, five lakh posts were filled. They say school building has been constructed, but where are the teachers? Bihar is struggling with hunger, poverty, and hopelessness. What is the change in last 20 years,' he asked. Political parties are gearing up their preparation for the assembly polls. Nitish Kumar announced on Saturday that pension to widows, senior citizens and people with disabilities would be increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1100 per month. (ANI)
