Three terrorists gunned down in J-K's Shopian; army says op ongoing

The security forces killed three terrorists in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday.
Taking to X, Additional Directorate General of Public Information wrote, "On 13 May 2025, based on specific intelligence of a #RashtriyasRifles Unit, about the presence of terrorists in the general area of Shoekal Keller, #Shopian, #IndianArmy launched a search and destroy Operation. During the operation, terrorists opened heavy fire, and fierce firefight ensued, which resulted in the elimination of three hardcore terrorists (sic)."
The ADGPI further said that the operation is still in progress.
This comes just days after both India and Pakistan announced an "understanding to stop all firing and military action". Both India and Pakistan engaged in cross-border drone and missile strikes, which came after India launched ' Operation Sindoor ' on terrorist infrastructure at nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The coordinated missile strikes were in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists.
It is worth noting that earlier today, Jammu and Kashmir police released photos of three terror suspects for their alleged involvement in the Pahalgam attack and announced a reward of ₹20 lakh.

Pakistan claims 11 military personnel killed
Pakistan on Tuesday claimed that its 11 military personnel were killed and 78 others injured during the recent military confrontation with India, PTI reported.
In a statement, the Pakistani military also claimed that 40 civilians died and 121 others were injured on the night of May 6-7, when India launched 'Operation Sindoor'. India has maintained that the precision strikes were launched to destroy terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK, and military installations and civilians were not the target.

Court calls for former RPF constable's medical report

Jun 21, 2025 08:24 AM IST Mumbai: A sessions court has called for the medical report of Chetan Singh Chaudhary, a former Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable accused of shooting dead four passengers on board the Jaipur-Mumbai Superfast Express on the night of July 31, 2023. Chetan Singh Chaudhary (PTI) While one of those dead was Chaudhary's senior, with whom he had an argument prior to the shootings, the others were all identified as Muslim by their beards and then shot. Chaudhary's plea for bail citing 'temporary insanity' was rejected in December 2023. The sessions court had called for Chaudhary's medical report earlier too, on May 23. But it was never submitted as the judge hearing the case got transferred and the court was without a judge. Friday saw the resumption of court proceedings in the trial after a gap of almost a month. Chaudhary's trial commenced last November, when he was lodged in Akola Central Jail and attended court proceedings via video conferencing. In February this year, finding his behavior odd, the Akola jail authorities took him to Akola Central Hospital, where doctors advised that he be taken to Thane Mental Hospital for a proper examination. The 34-year-old former constable has been in Thane Mental Hospital since February 20. On March 12, the court ordered a stop to the trial since Chaudhary could not be present even through video conferencing. Four witnesses, including two RPF constables on duty with him that night, have so far testified. With a new judge having taken over, the court on Friday ordered that Choudhary's medical report be presented in court by the next date, July 3.

Sisodia grilled for 3 hours by ACB

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was on Friday questioned for nearly three hours by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) over an alleged multi-crore rupee classroom scam. The former deputy chief minister left the ACB office around 2.40 p.m. after appearing before investigators around noon. While a defiant Sisodia lashed out at the BJP for allegedly misusing investigative agencies for political vendetta, the ACB said that the scam involved inflated costs in the construction of classrooms and school buildings under the Delhi government. An official ACB statement said, 'The case is registered under Section 13(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, along with IPC Sections 409 and 120B (dealing with criminal breach of trust and conspiracy).' 'Manish Sisodia was questioned in the presence of an independent witness, and his statements were recorded. Further investigation is currently underway,' said the ACB. Earlier this month, the ACB issued summonses to Sisodia and former Health Minister Satyendar Jain. Jain appeared before investigators on June 6. The summonses were linked to a First Information Report (FIR) registered by the ACB on April 30, alleging irregularities in the construction of 12,748 classrooms or semi-permanent structures in government schools. According to the ACB, the alleged scam involved awarding contracts at inflated prices, each classroom reportedly costing Rs 24.86 lakh, nearly five times the standard cost. Investigators claimed the contracts were given to 34 contractors, many of whom had links to the AAP. Further allegations include that the semi-permanent structures (SPS), designed to last around 30 years, were priced similarly to more durable Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) buildings, which typically have a lifespan of 75 years. The ACB also noted that an additional Rs 326 crore was added to the project cost without fresh tenders. The AAP has consistently dismissed the allegations as politically motivated. BJP tops 2024 poll spending with whopping Rs 1,494 Crore
