Be ready to repay faith of citizens: CAS to graduates
HYDERABAD: Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal AP Singh on Saturday extolled the might of the Indian Air Force (IAF), saying that it amply demonstrated its prowess during the recent Operation Sindoor through swift, precise and decisive action against the enemy. 'The success of Operation Sindoor is evidence of the operational capabilities of the IAF,' the CAS told the Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal on Saturday.
A total of 254 Flight Cadets graduated during the parade. Addressing the new officers, the CAS reminded them that the Air Force had always been, and would continue to be, the nation's first responder in times of need. 'It is our collective responsibility to live up to the trust placed in the Indian Air Force by every citizen of India, and we must be ready and prepared for it,' he said.
Honour and rewards
Congratulating the graduating officers, the CAS said: 'When you chose to serve the nation, you opted for a career that is not only demanding but also among the most rewarding and honourable. As we look to the future, two things are certain: the fast-evolving character of warfare and the increasing relevance of aerospace power.'
On the theme of collective responsibility, the CAS said that the ceremony marked the culmination of years of rigorous training and perseverance, but this was only the beginning of the officers' professional journey. He urged them to expand their horizons and develop new capabilities.
'The battlespace of the future will be increasingly complex. With the IAF transforming into a true aerospace force, many of you will be at the forefront of India's ventures into space. These challenges will demand total commitment, relentless focus, innovation, and a deep passion for your calling. The uniform you wear is a symbol of national pride – wear it with honour, lead with courage, and always uphold the core values of the Indian Air Force,' he added.
Parade and awards
The Air Chief Marshal was the Reviewing Officer (RO) for the parade and conferred the President's Commission to the graduating Flight Cadets. He was received by Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, and Air Marshal PK Vohra, Commandant, AFA. The Reviewing Officer was presented with a General Salute, followed by a march-past.

Training prog for civil defence volunteers kicks off in UT
1 2 3 Chandigarh: Punjab Governor and Union Territory Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria formally inaugurated the Civil Defence Volunteer Training Programme at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) on Saturday. The inauguration also marked the beginning of the programme's first batch of volunteers. Deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav welcomed the volunteers with a heartfelt address, assuring full support from the Chandigarh administration. He reflected on the overwhelming public response to the initiative launched post Operation Sindoor, where a modest registration camp at Tagore Theatre on May 10 drew an unexpected crowd of over 5,000 citizens, far surpassing the anticipated 800. This surge of civic enthusiasm led to the selection of 1,600 volunteers from a pool of 7,300 registrants for the first phase of training. These volunteers will be trained in four batches of 400, undergoing a six-day intensive programme that includes sessions at MGSIPA, the fire department, Western Command Army, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Looking ahead, a valedictory ceremony in mid-July will celebrate the volunteers' commitment, where they will receive certificates, uniforms, and ID cards. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like [Click Here] - 2025 Top Trending Search - Local network access Esseps Learn More Undo The city's civil defence structure will be organized into a pyramid command system, ensuring efficient localised disaster management. Home secretary Mandip Brar emphasized the importance of proactive preparedness, saying, "What truly defines a city is not just how it responds to a disaster, but how prepared it is before the disaster strikes." Kataria urged citizens to embrace the spirit of responsibility, resilience, and readiness, encouraging enthusiastic participation and execution of duties when needed. Volunteers took a solemn pledge, echoing the civil defence motto: "Working for the benefit of all." Among the many inspired citizens is Monika Thakur, a resident of Sector 20, who discovered the programme through Instagram. British F-35B Fighter Jet Remains Stranded In Kerala A Week After Emergency Landing. What's Next
A British F-35B Lightning II stealth fighter jet remains stranded at Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram airport, one week after an emergency landing due to low fuel reserves. Part of the UK's Carrier Strike Group, the aircraft had just wrapped up joint Indo-Pacific naval drills with the Indian Navy when it requested urgent clearance to land. While it was successfully refueled by the Indian Air Force, a hydraulic system failure grounded the aircraft during its planned return. Despite a UK Navy maintenance team's efforts, the fifth-generation stealth jet remains non-operational. Now, Lockheed Martin engineers are being dispatched from the US to resolve the issue. If on-site repairs fail, transportation via military cargo plane is being considered. This rare international military incident on Indian soil has drawn global attention — especially involving such a highly classified and advanced jet system.#f35 #uknavy #kerala #f35strandedinkerala #ukfighterjetindia #britishf35kerala #stealthjetfail #defencenews2025 #lockheedmartin #toi #toibharat #bharat #breakingnews #indianews Read More
