‘They need to be taught a lesson': Pahalgam attack victim's family in Odisha hails Operation Sindoor
The widow of a Pahalgam attack victim from Odisha on Wednesday hailed India's strike on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and called it a bold step by the Union government.
Prashant Satpathy (43) was among the 26 civilians killed in the terrorist attack in south Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. His wife Priyadarshani told The Indian Express, 'I thank the Union government for the bold step. The terrorists attacked my husband on a Tuesday, and Operation Sindoor also been started on a Tuesday. I request the government to continue the operation to end of terrorism in the world.'
Prashant, who worked as an accountant with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Balasore, was on vacation with his wife and nine-year-old son at Pahalgam on the day of the terror attack. The family is from Remuna in Odisha's Balasore district.
Priyadarshini said that while she will never get back what she lost, she wanted it to be ensured that no one else goes through a similar situation. 'There shouldn't be any fear in the mind of anyone when they are going outside for work or vacation,' she said.
Expressing faith that the government will take the fight against terrorism to a decisive end, she said, 'Pakistan, or whoever has done this, they need to be taught a lesson so that they never dare to do this again. The enemy need to know the reaction to their action.'
On April 22, hours after the attack in Pahalgam, Priyadarshini had spoken to The Indian Express, saying that her husband had received bullet injuries on his head as they were alighting from a ropeway. 'We couldn't understand what happened as my husband was suddenly hit by a bullet. There was chaos all over,' she said.
The attack left 25 tourists and one local man dead.

Announcement on defence equipment factory in Salem soon, says union minister H D Kumaraswamy
Salem: Union steel and heavy industries minister H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday said an announcement regarding the establishment of a defence equipment manufacturing factory on the premises of Salem Steel Plant would be made soon. "The proposal is currently in the early stages of discussion. A formal announcement in this regard will be made in the next four to five months," he said after attending the International Yoga Day celebrations at the Salem Steel Plant, where he did various yoga asanas along with the plant officials, members of trade unions and employees. Addressing the media, he commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting yoga across the globe and inspiring people. He said efforts were on to revitalize the Salem Steel Plant on the technical and marketing fronts. "In the 2003-2004 financial year, the plant was profitable. However, the profitability has since declined. The primary goal is to redevelop the plant and restore its profitability by developing various new products." Referring to the one nation, one election policy, Kumaraswamy said the BJP was not fostering division, but promoting unity within the country. "The BJP's goal is to strengthen its presence in Tamil Nadu, and the party is actively working to achieve this goal. Hence, some regional parties are criticizing the BJP." On Friday, the Union minister had planted a sapling on the Salem Steel Plant premises and toured the entire facility. He had also met the representatives of labour unions and promised to address their concerns.

Babbar Khalsa terror module busted; 7 high-end pistols, 6kg heroin seized; 3 arrested
Amritsar: Punjab Police seized seven sophisticated pistols and over 6kg heroin in two operations conducted in Amritsar on Saturday. Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar informed that police busted a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module after the arrest of a local operative, Onkar Singh. During the operation, police seized four Glock-make pistols and two PX5. A preliminary probe revealed that the BKI module was operated by UK-based handler Dharam Singh alias 'Dharma Sandhu', who is believed to be an associate of Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Rinda. An FIR was registered, and an investigation is under way to uncover the broader network, said the commissioner. In the second case, police dismantled a cross-border drug-smuggling racket with the arrest of two key operatives—Lovepreet Singh alias Love and Balwinder Singh alias Bobby. Police seized 6.15kg heroin, one PX5 pistol, four live cartridges, and Rs 10,000 in drug money from their possession, informed Punjab director general of police Gaurav Yadav.
