CAIRO – 23 March 2025: Egypt has expressed full solidarity with Niger in the face of terrorism after an attack on a mosque on Friday killed at least 44 civilians and severely injured 13 others, according to official statements.
'Egypt condemns the brutal terrorist attack that targeted a mosque in southwestern Niger, resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens of victims,' the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Saturday.
Egypt voiced full support to Niger's efforts to combat terrorism and achieve security and stability, condemning all acts that target places of worship and sacred sites.
The ministry conveyed Egypt's deepest condolences to the government and people of Niger, as well as to the families of the victims of this heinous act of terrorism, wishing a swift recovery to all the injured.
The shocking attack took place in the village of Fambita in Kokorou commune near the tri-border region of Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali, targeting worshippers while performing Friday prayers, according to Niger's interior ministry.
Niger's authorities blame the attack on the Islamic State in the Great Sahara, a terrorist group affiliate to ISIS and is also known as EIGS.
'Around 2 p.m., while Muslim worshippers were performing Friday prayers, these heavily armed terrorists surrounded the mosque to carry out their massacre of rare cruelty,' the ministry said, as reported by the Associated Press.
The gunmen also set a market and a group of houses ablaze before retreating, the ministry added.

At Least 15 Killed in Suicide Bombing in Syria
Israa Farhan A deadly suicide bombing struck Saint Elias Church in the Syrian capital Damascus on Sunday, leaving at least 15 people dead and several others injured, according to local authorities. The Syrian Civil Defense reported a mass casualty incident at the Mar Elias Church in the Al-Dweila neighborhood, describing the explosion as a terrorist attack. Emergency response teams rushed to the site to recover bodies, assist the wounded, and secure the area. The Syrian Ministry of Interior later confirmed that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS). According to the ministry's statement, the attacker entered the church during a service, opened fire, and then detonated an explosive vest. Security forces were quickly deployed to the scene, sealing off the area and launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack. Forensic teams have begun collecting evidence to identify the bomber and uncover potential accomplices. This marks one of the deadliest attacks in Damascus in recent years and comes amid rising concerns about the resurgence of extremist activity in Syria's urban centers. Although the Islamic State has largely lost its territorial hold in Syria, the group continues to carry out sporadic and lethal attacks across the country. Saint Elias Church, a historic Christian site in Damascus, was hosting worshippers when the bombing occurred. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and mourning across religious and community groups. Authorities have not yet released the full list of casualties, and hospitals in the capital are treating the wounded under heightened security. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Egypt urges diplomacy to de-escalate Middle East tensions amid Israel-Iran escalation
Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty meets with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, in October 2024 – FILE/Egyptian MFA CAIRO – 22 June 2025: Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty has urged diplomatic and political solutions as the only way to de-escalate tensions across the Middle East amid continued escalation between Israel and Iran. Abdelatty's remarks came shortly after the US announced on Sunday 'obliterating' key Iranian nuclear facilities, a move strongly condemned by Iran and its world allies, including Russia and China. The US attack came amidst a war between Israel and Iran, which Tel Aviv initiated on 13 June, bombing nuclear and military sites in Iran and assassinating key military officials and senior nuclear scientists. The Israeli strikes, which have been supported by the US, disrupted US-Iran talks that aimed at limiting Iran's nuclear enrichment. While Tehran says it reserves all options to defend Iranian sovereignty, interest, and people, Trump warned Iran that any retaliation 'will be met with force far greater than what was witnessed tonight.' "We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.… — The White House (@WhiteHouse) June 21, 2025 In a side meeting with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf during a meeting for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Abdelatty warned against the repercussions of the Israel-Iran escalation on the region's security and stability. He stressed that diplomacy and political solutions are necessary to neutralize the risk of a comprehensive escalation in the Middle East. US President Donald Trump announced today a 'very successful' attack on Iran's nuclear sites of Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan, claiming that key enrichment facilities there were 'totally and completely obliterated.' Tehran accused the US of 'betraying diplomacy' and launching a 'dangerous war' against Iran. Egypt has expressed 'grave concerns' over the recent US strikes in Iran and emphasized the necessity of resepcting the sovereignty of nations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs underlined in a statement Egypt's rejection of any violations of the United Nations Charter and international law. Egypt expressed its condemnation of the escalating tensions that pose serious risks to regional and international peace and security, reiterating its warning about the dangers of the region slipping further into chaos and tension. The statement stresses that political solutions and diplomatic negotiations, rather than military actions, are the only pathways to resolving the crisis and achieving lasting settlement. Egypt renewed its call for an immediate cessation of escalation, urging restraint and prioritizing dialogue to protect civilian lives and ensure the security and stability of the region.

Pakistan Discusses Important Fact Checks on Iran-Israel War
Rana Atef Amid growing misinformation surrounding the Iran-Israel conflict, Pakistan discussed key fact checks, highlighting Pakistan's commitment to neutrality, its condemnation of aggression, and its support for diplomatic resolution over regional escalation. 1. Pakistan has NOT PROVIDED/ ALLOWED any use of its airspace, land or water space to be used against Iran in any of the attacks by US or Israel. 2. Pakistan has condemned the US attack launched on night 21/22 June on Iranian nuclear facilities*. Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued clear statement in this regard. 3. Pakistan has repeatedly and most clearly & boldly condemned Israeli attacks on Iran at different international fora and have shown full political, moral and diplomatic support* to Iran against Israeli aggression. 4. Pakistan will not participate or become part of other's war, any block politics and in other country's military conflict. 5. Pakistan has a principled stance from day one; Iran has all rights of self defence and Pakistan will never make any compromise on safeguarding Pakistan own sovereignty and territorial integrity. 6. Pakistan has and will continue to engage actively with all stakeholders and parties to come to an early cessation of hostilities and give peace a chance through sustainable and honourable mutually accepted terms rather than escalation and larger regional instability with grave attendant risks. 7. Pakistan believes that *All conflicts have to ultimately end through engagements and talks for which a sense of responsibility lies on all engaged parties to reach a solution earlier than later. How is Pakistan playing 1. Pakistan's nomination of Trump for Nobel prize actually shows to **the extent Pakistan went to find a diplomatic solution to the catastrophe the region and world is sleep walking into due to wrong assumptions, bruised egos and narrow objectives. ** 2. Even at the cost of its domestic downside, Pakistan will be acknowledged and remembered as one rational actor in this mayhem who adopted all at disposal of a skilful negotiator including cold facts (they are not happy with the situation), logic (they know them better) and even appeasement to an extent to put sense on warning parties which appear to think not beyond next few hours and days. 3. It must be known that ***self defence and preservation is the most poweful of human instincts and Pakistan has readily and clearly communicated to all those with hegemonic designs that their hubristic worldview are not sustainable, now or ever. ***This communication has been both verbal and with actions; vivid demonstration in Mark e Haq. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand
