Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE new Rangers era begins today as Russell Martin welcomed his players at Auchenhowie for his very first training session after taking over as boss. The Rangers players and coaches were spotted driving into the training ground as they reported back for pre-season training after the summer break. Cyriel Dessers is expected to leave the club with AEK Athens closing in but the only reason he's not been pictured this morning is because he's been given some extra time following his Nigeria exploits. The same goes for Belgian midfielder Nico Raskin, who Gers are looking to tie down on a new deal amid growing transfer interest. Forgotten star Oscar Cortes has reported back today along with his team-mates after completing his permanent switch to Ibrox. But unlike the rest of the players, the Colombian didn't drive into the training facility himself. He was spotted arriving via taxi. Birmingham pair Dowell and Davies arrived together as they car-shared with the centre-back taking the wheel. Jack Butland and Robin Propper were all smiles as they made their way into the Milngavie complex. Skipper James Tavernier and Ridvan Yilmaz were pictured too, while sporting director Kevin Thelwell and coaches were spotted as well. There was no sign of head coach Martin but it's likely he was already in the door with members of staff to ensure everything was ready for his new players arriving. 6 Oscar Cortes arriving in his taxi Credit: Kenny Ramsay 6 Sporting director Kevin Thelwell was pictured too Credit: Kenny Ramsay Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Ibrahima Konaté disappointed with Liverpool contract offer as talks stall
Ibrahima Konaté is stalling on signing a new deal at Liverpool, raising fears at the club that another key player could run down his contract after this summer's departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The French defender enters the final year of his deal next month and is understood to have rejected Liverpool's initial offer of an extension. Konaté's contract talks were delayed by Liverpool's focus on negotiating with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk last season, with both signing new two-year deals in April before re-signing the Dutchman's defensive partner became the club's priority. The 26-year-old is understood to be disappointed by the structure of Liverpool's offer, with his representatives believed to be pushing for a higher basic wage after the offer was heavily based on meeting certain performance targets. Failure to agree a new contract with Konaté before the end of the summer would leave Liverpool with a dilemma given the furore over Alexander-Arnold's move to Real Madrid. Although Liverpool eventually banked £10m for Alexander-Arnold because of Madrid's determination to sign him in time to play at the Club World Cup that fee is a fraction of his value. Andy Robertson is also about to enter the final 12 months of his contract, with Liverpool willing to sell him to Atlético Madrid if the left-back wants to leave. The goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher joined Brentford in an £18m deal this month with one year left on his contract. Liverpool plan to revive discussions with Konaté later in the summer but are adamant they will not be forced into overpaying. After a busy start to the transfer window during which Liverpool have done deals worth a combined £145.5m for Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, Arne Slot's central defensive options are the one remaining area of uncertainty. skip past newsletter promotion Sign up to Football Daily Free daily newsletter Kick off your evenings with the Guardian's take on the world of football Enter your email address Sign up Privacy Notice: Newsletters may contain info about charities, online ads, and content funded by outside parties. As the Guardian reported, the 24-year-old has made clear he will not sign a new contract at Selhurst Park, and with 12 months left he is eager to secure a move to a club that can offer guaranteed playing time before next summer's World Cup.

Tommy Fleetwood's 18th hole putt ‘hits ball mark' as Brit heartbreakingly denied £2.7m PGA Travellers Championship title
TOMMY FLEETWOOD was heartbreakingly denied his first PGA Tour win after his putt appeared to hit a ball mark on the 18th hole. The Brit led by three shots going into the final day of the Travelers Championship. 2 2 But he ended up missing out by a shot after bogeying the 18th to hand victory to Keegan Bradley. Fleetwood had a six-foot putt to win but his shot appeared to hit a ball mark and drifted inches wide. He then agonisingly watched on as Bradley sank his putt from a similar distance to birdie, achieving a two-shot swing on the final hole to win the championship. One fan reacted saying: "That's just unbelievably bad luck." Another added: "1.9M ball mark. Ouch." And a third wrote: "Really sad to see for the guy." The result means Fleetwood's wait for a PGA Tour win continues. He also missed out on the £2.7million winning prize pot. Fleetwood shared his disappointment after the final round, saying: "I'm gutted right now. "I've not been in that situation for a long time. It's probably the worst way to finish. "Leading by two with three to play. Leading by one going into the last and you don't even make it to a play-off. It's the worst way it could go."
