Midday meals to feature high-quality rice in Tirupati dist: JC
Tirupati: Joint Collector Shubham Bansal announced that fine-quality rice (R&R variety) will be supplied to government schools and hostels across the district from Thursday aimed at enhancing the quality of the Midday Meal Scheme. This initiative aims to provide nutritious and hygienic food to children, ensuring better health outcomes and improved edu-cational participation.
As per government guidelines, the rice being supplied is of BPL-grade fine variety, packed in 25 kg bags. A total of 21,744 rice packets have already been dispatched across the district. Of these, 7,614 packets are being sent to 1,867 government schools, 9,400 packets to government hostels, 3,377 packets to ISKCON (Tirupati) for their midday meal programme, and 1,353 packets to the Akshaya Patra Foundation.
To ensure transparency and prevent misuse or diversion, each rice packet is embedded with a QR code. This allows real-time digital tracking of the rice from the MLS (Mandala Level Stock) points to the schools and hostels. Schools have also been instructed to thoroughly verify the QR codes on the packets before accepting the supplies. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister and the Minister for Civil Supplies, this programme is being rolled out as a model of quality as-surance in public food distribution. Joint Collector Bansal also high-lighted that for the first time in three years, the district has achieved the procurement of 95,000 metric tonnes of fine rice during the Kha-rif and Rabi seasons.
The rice is not only being supplied to Tirupati but also to other dis-tricts including Chittoor, Kadapa, Annamayya, Puttaparthi, Nellore, and Anantapur. He further informed that implementation efforts have been underway for the past 15 days.

Prayagraj: Devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) Prayagraj are gearing up to celebrate the much-awaited annual Jagannath Rath Yatra on June 29. There will be other dance performances besides Harinam Sankirtan. A team of 150 devotees from Varanasi is also expected to participate in the festivities. Another highlight of the Rath Yatra will be the offering of 1008 types of bhoga from devotees of different states of India. "Iskcon is organising the yatra on the 29th, instead of the 27th, as it being a Sunday, we wish to give more and more people the opportunity to get the blessings," explained Das.

Jagannath Snan Yatra celebrated with devotion at ISKCON
1 2 3 4 Nagpur: The ISKCON Nagpur celebrated the sacred Jagannath Snan Yatra with great devotion at Shri Shri Radha Gopinath Temple, near Gandhi Sagar. Inspired by Lokanath Swami Maharaj, the event began with bhajans and kirtans, followed by a discourse by Prannath Prabhu on the spiritual significance of the festival. He explained that Snan Yatra is a divine expression of Lord Jagannath's compassion, offering devotees a chance to purify their hearts through darshan and service. The ritual bathing (abhishek) of Lord Jagannath, Baladev, and Maa Subhadra with 108 sacred water pots was performed by ISKCON leaders including Satchidanand Prabhu and Vrajendra Tanay Prabhu who were joined by special guests and devotees. The celebration culminated with aarti and the distribution of mahaprasad to hundreds of devotees. ISKCON spokesperson Dr Shyamsunder Sharma thanked all volunteers for their support and announced the Jagannath Rath Yatra will be held on June 28, starting from Poddareshwar Ram Mandir. The centerpiece North Lakhimpur Eco Park, with an investment of Rs 4.25 crore, promises to become the town's environmental showcase. The innovative facility will house a museum dedicated to extinct and endangered tree species, alongside a dense Miyawaki forest designed to maximize biodiversity in minimal space. The park will also feature carefully curated sections of fruit and medicinal trees, complemented by traditional bamboo groves that reflect Assam's ecological heritage. "This urban forest will provide green lungs to Lakhimpur town," Sarma said during the foundation stone laying ceremony at Chandmari.
