WE don't really need an excuse to crack open a bottle come the weekend, but English Wine Week (June 21-29) is a more than good-enough reason.
Sales of English sparkling have surged 187% since 2018, as people have realised how good they really are - with many outperforming their champagne rivals in taste tests.
Roebuck, Bolney, Nyetimber... these English vineyards are becoming household names, and they're often to be found on supermarket shelves at excellent prices.
Whether you prefer a sparkling, rose, red or white, our own vineyards have it covered.

You've probably heard of Nyetimber wines - and for good reason, as yet again the winemaker recently picked up an award for its English Sparkling at London Wine Fair's Battle of the Bubbles, where

Wine expert shares her view on Aldi's Whispering Angel dupe
WINE culturist Amelia Singer hails 'The Chassaux et Fils Rosé' as a "really savvy move from Aldi". Here, she gives Fabulous her verdict...
Sainte Victoire is my favourite part of Provence to find personality filled yet great value Rosé.
Thanks to the altitude of the Sainte Victoire hillsides, the grapes get exposed to plenty of sunshine during the day but their ripeness is moderated by cooler evening temperatures.
This enables the wine to brim with intense, complex fruit which is balanced by elegant acidity and herbal finesse.
I am delighted that Aldi are highlighting an actual area of Provence as quality and flavour profiles can vary greatly – however I always know with Rosé from Sainte Victoire that I will not be disappointed.

Kneecap's Glastonbury set 'not appropriate', UK Prime Minister says

BRITAIN'S PRIME MINISTER Keir Starmer has said he does not think Kneecap's planned Glastonbury Festival performance is 'appropriate'. Speaking to The Sun newspaper yesterday, Starmer said he does not believe the Belfast rap group should be allowed to perform at the major music festival this year. It comes after Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch called on the BBC not to broadcast the set . Kneecap member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, whose stage name is Mo Chara, appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court on Wednesday , charged with allegedly displaying a flag of the proscribed terrorist group Hezbollah while saying 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah' at a concert in November. Starmer was asked if he thought the trio should perform at Glastonbury. Advertisement The Labour leader said: 'No, I don't, and I think we need to come down really clearly on this. This is about the threats that shouldn't be made, I won't say too much because there's a court case on, but I don't think that's appropriate.' Ó hAnnaidh was released on unconditional bail to appear before a judge again in August . His defence team signalled that they will be contesting the charges , and the band has said the accusations are politically-motivated. Badenoch, who as the UK's culture minister in the last British government stripped the band of its public funding before a court overturned the decision, yesterday called on the BBC to not broadcast the band's set. A BBC spokesperson said decisions about the programmes it will broadcast will be made in the lead-up to the festival. They said the broadcaster does not ban artists, but ensures that programming meets its independent editorial guidelines and standards. With reporting by Press Association. Beauty and the Geek is an American reality TV series, which ran for five seasons from 2005. The show is marketed as the 'ultimate social experiment' and pairs beautiful women with geeky men with the pairs competing in challenges to avoid elimination. While the show is a competition, it is an experiment which allows the teams to learn from each other, with the beauties learning about car repairs, rocket science and maths and the geeks learning how to give massages; how to dance and how to get a woman's phone number. A British version of the show first aired in 2006, with the second season premiering on Discovery+ in 2022 with Kildare model Aishah Akorede winning with her partner Martin Thompson.
