Kuwait closes several roads for Egyptian President's departure

KUWAIT CITY, April 15: The Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday that several roads will be temporarily closed starting at 2:00 p.m. as part of the security measures in place for the departure of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
According to a press statement issued by the General Department of Security Relations and Media, the road closures will remain in effect until the conclusion of the departure ceremony.
The closures will affect the route extending from King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Road to the Sixth Ring Road, continuing to its intersection with King Faisal Road in both directions, and all the way to Amiri Airport.
The ministry urged road users to cooperate with security personnel, adhere to traffic instructions, and use alternative routes to help ensure a smooth traffic flow during the temporary closure.

Major General Al-Muneefi welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of adhering to Decree-Law No. 73/2025, which amends certain provisions of Law No. 26/1961 concerning the national flag of the State of Kuwait. Article 1 of the decree prohibits the raising of flags and slogans that symbolise religious, social, tribal groups, or sects. During the meeting, Major General Al-Muneefi affirmed the importance of adhering to security regulations and instructions governing religious rituals. He highlighted the ban on setting up tents, blocking streets, using loudspeakers outside Husseiniyas, and organising marches. Kuwait facilitates the transit of thousands stranded by Israel-Iran conflict

KUWAIT CITY, June 19: In response to escalating regional tensions triggered by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, Kuwait has stepped in to assist approximately 30,000 travelers stranded due to suspended air traffic. Since last Friday, these travelers — many of different nationalities — have entered Kuwait through the Abdali border crossing, with numbers continuing to rise. According to security sources cited by Al-Rai, Kuwait's Ministry of Interior, under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, is actively working to facilitate the entry and return of stranded individuals. The operation includes Kuwaitis, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals, and Arab, European, and Asian citizens who have been unable to leave Iran or Iraq due to halted air travel. A structured mechanism has been implemented, allowing travelers to cross from Iran's Shalamcheh port into Iraq, then through the Safwan and Abdali land ports, and onwards to their home countries via Kuwait International Airport or through Nuwaiseeb and Salmi border crossings. In an interview with Al-Akhbar TV, Al-Yahya emphasized that no injuries or infections among nationals have been reported since Israel began a major military campaign against Iran last Friday. 'We have begun tallying Kuwaiti nationals in Tehran, Mashhad, and Qom, and are arranging their evacuation through the closest exit points.' Kuwait, Egypt discuss forming committee to recruit skilled labor

The announcement follows a meeting between Egypt's Ambassador to Kuwait, Osama Shaltout, and Acting Director General of Kuwait's Public Authority of Manpower (PAM), Marzouq Dhaifallah Al-Otaibi, at PAM headquarters in Kuwait City. According to Egypt's State Information Service, the committee is expected to include representatives from Egypt's Ministry of Labor and will align labor supply with sector-specific demands in the local economy, the statement added. The move comes nearly 14 months after Kuwait suspended the issuance of new work visas for Egyptian nationals in April 2024.
