Former Kansas City Chiefs WR leads the UFL in touchdown receptions through 9 weeks

Cornell Powell was a fifth-round pick out of Clemson in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played in three regular-season games in his Kansas City Chiefs career but is making a serious case for a return to the NFL. Powell is currently garnering attention from the DC Defenders of the UFL for his play this spring season. He leads the league with seven touchdown receptions to go along with 29 catches for 418 yards. The former college standout is taking advantage of the playing time as a starter and properly showcasing his abilities to potential suitors. The UFL continues to pride itself on providing additional opportunities for players who face obstacles in their professional football journey. Some players have helped resurrect their careers and carved out roles in the NFL, especially with training camp invites quickly approaching for prospective players. The Defenders clinched a playoff spot and are currently 6-3 on the year, which is good for second in the XFL conference. Former Kansas City Chiefs players earn 2025 All-UFL team honors

The list of former Kansas City Chiefs players in the UFL making strides continues to grow with the latest announcement of the 2025 All-UFL teams. Yasir Durant was an undrafted free agent after the 2020 NFL Draft but joined Kansas City as a rookie, playing in 11 games with one start. After moving on to multiple teams following the season, Durant eventually joined the UFL in 2024. As a member of the DC Defenders, he has started every game and displayed versatility playing every position on the offensive line except for center. DeAndre Baker was a former first-round pick of the New York Giants in 2019. Still, disappointing play and off-field distractions led to his release during the 2020 season, after which he eventually joined Kansas City's practice squad. He appeared in just ten games for the Chiefs over two seasons, tallying 21 tackles, a sack, and two passes defensed. Since joining the DC Defenders in 2024, he's found success this season, finishing with 19 tackles and three interceptions. Four teams remain as the playoffs get underway this weekend, and the UFL championship game is set for June 14th at the Dome at America's Center in St. Louis. Ex-Aggies RB Jashaun Corbin Earns Another Chance at NFL With Falcons

Ex-Aggies RB Jashaun Corbin Earns Another Chance at NFL With Falcons originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Jashaun Corbin's return to Texas proved to be a lucrative bet for the former Texas A&M Aggies running back. Advertisement A four-star recruit coming out of high school, Corbin made quite the first impression as a freshman at College Station, taking his first kickoff return 100 yards for a touchdown against Arkansas in 2018. Corbin went on to earn All-SEC Freshman Team honors but had his sophomore year cut short just two games into the 2019 season due to a hamstring injury. He transferred to Florida State to become a featured back for the Seminoles but went undrafted in 2022. Corbin bounced around as a practice squad player for the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers the next two years. But after going three months unrostered after not making the final cut for the Giants last year, Corbin signed with the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas, playing alongside former teammate and Aggies quarterback Kellen Mond. Kelly-Imagn Images On June 17, James Larsen reported that Corbin is signing with the Atlanta Falcons for the upcoming season. He is the first UFL player to sign with an NFL team since the conclusion of the UFL season. Corbin joins a Falcons running back room spearheaded by Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. The RB3 role could be up for competition between Jase McClellan (2024 sixth-round pick, Alabama) and Carlos Washington Jr., an undrafted rookie out of Southeast Louisiana. The Falcons narrowly missed the playoffs last year, losing an overtime season finale that squashed their chances at the postseason. Advertisement In 14 games with the Aggies, Corbin totaled 96 rushing attempts for 483 yards (5.0 per carry) and 16 receptions for 101 yards and four total touchdowns. His sophomore year was cut short after he suffered a serious hamstring injury just two games into the 2019 season.
