Sikkim CM performs yoga in Gangtok on 11th IYD, calls to make state
Gangtok (Sikkim) [India], June 21 (ANI): Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Gangtok on Saturday, emphasising the importance of yoga for personal and planetary well-being.
He extended his best wishes to everyone on this occasion and highlighted the state government's efforts to promote yoga among the masses. He called on to promote wellness tourism taht can make Sikkim a global destination, leveraging its natural beauty and cultural heritage.
'On the occasion of #InternationalYogaDay, I extend best wishes to everyone...The state government has made all efforts to ensure Yoga reaches the masses in the state...By promoting wellness tourism, we can make Sikkim a global destination', Prem Kumar Tamang told reporters.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took part in the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, where he hailed yoga as a gift 'beyond age' that transcends all boundaries and unites humanity in 'health and harmony.'
The event took place against the scenic backdrop of the Visakhapatnam coastline, with Indian Navy ships stationed near the shore, adding to the grandeur of the celebrations.
The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the Andhra Pradesh government and extended his appreciation to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan for hosting the event in Visakhapatnam. He lauded their leadership as 'inspiring' and described the state's initiative to promote yoga as 'commendable.'
'Yoga is for everyone beyond boundaries, beyond backgrounds, beyond age or physical ability. It is a universal gift that unites humanity in health, harmony, and consciousness. Friends, I am truly delighted that we are gathered here in Visakhapatnam, a city that beautifully blends nature with progress. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Chandrababu Naidu Garu and Pawan Kalyan for hosting such a wonderful event under your inspiring leadership. It is commendable that the state of Andhra Pradesh has taken this meaningful initiative to promote yoga,' said PM Modi while addressing the gathering. (ANI)

Decision on loan waiver at appropriate time: CM
Pune: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said a decision on farmers' loan waiver would be taken at the appropriate time. He said guidelines and set procedures must be followed while taking such a decision. The Mahayuti govt would not backtrack from any of the assurances it had given, Fadnavis told reporters here after attending the International Yoga Day event at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). Opposition parties have been pressing for an immediate announcement of farm loan waiver to give relief to farmers in the state. Fadnavis said the govt would definitely take a call on the loan waiver at the right time. The chief minister said the govt was keeping a watch on the ongoing rainfall in the state and on water storages in all major dams. "Planning has been done on the release of water and suspension of discharge from dams. The govt is working in coordination with the neighbouring states on this. Our engineers have been deployed in these states. They are coordinating on water release and related developments," he said. Iran-Israel Conflict: The Indian government's Operation Sindhu has successfully evacuated 827 Indian nationals from conflict-hit Iran, with the latest flight landing in New Delhi on Saturday. The evacuees, including students and pilgrims, shared their experiences of the tense situation in Iran and praised the efforts of the Indian embassy and government. The evacuation flight from Mashhad carried 310 Indian nationals, who were safely brought back to the country under Operation Sindhu. Sharing the images of the evacuation, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X, "Another evacuation flight from Mashhad landed in New Delhi at 1630 hrs on 21 June with 310 Indian nationals from Iran. With this, a total of 827 Indians have been evacuated." Nadeem Asgar, an evacuee, told ANI, "I am thankful to my nation for keeping us safe there and bringing us back safely. As soon as the situation went south, we were evacuated by the embassy. I am very thankful to the Indian government." Farzana Abdi echoed similar sentiments, "We are coming back from Iran. There was a lot of fighting and missiles there. The Indian embassy helped us a lot and brought us here. We are very happy to be back in India. India is the best." Riyazul Hasan described the dire situation in Iran, "The situation is not good there. We saw from our hotel window that the missiles were coming, which were being intercepted mid-air. We are relieved to be back here. We came through the embassy. We thank PM Modi." Fatima expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister, "I am very grateful to PM Modi. Arunachal CM disburses Rs 19 Cr land compensation, meets troops along LAC
Itanagar, June 21 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday handed over compensation cheques worth Rs 19 crore to villagers of Chuna in Tawang district for land acquisition related to the Damteng-Chuna road project and for land acquired by the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Terming the compensation as a key step towards inclusive development, Khandu said, 'This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to ensure that development reaches even the remotest frontiers of Arunachal Pradesh.' The compensation disbursement followed the International Yoga Day celebrations held at Chuna, located at an altitude of 3,950 meters near the Indo-Tibet border. The programme was graced by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and State Minister Kento Jini, along with senior officials from the district administration. Earlier in the day, Khandu participated in the Yoga Day programme with villagers and security personnel. 'As the local MLA, it was important for me to interact directly with the people of Chuna, hear their concerns, and understand their aspirations firsthand,' he said, following an extended interaction with local residents. The Chief Minister also visited the jawans of the Arunachal Scouts stationed at the border outpost and expressed pride in their service. 'I was deeply impressed by the courage and dedication of our own boys, sons of Arunachal, serving Maa Bharti in some of the harshest terrains with unmatched dedication,' he noted.
