IN a defining moment within our Epoch, India has officially overtaken Japan to become the fourth-largest economy in the world. It is confirmed by leading assessments from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, and other key institutions. This milestone is not just a reflection of economic growth; it is a powerful statement about the rising potential of the Global South, particularly for countries within the BRICS+ nations.
Projections also indicate that India is on course to overtake Germany by 2027, further cementing its position on the global stage. For many experts, India's rise to this unprecedented economic status was not a product of chance. This pivotal development signifies India's commitment to elevating the voice of the Global South and fostering deeper economic ties with Africa.
India's achievement in becoming the world's fourth-largest economy within our lifetime is not merely an Indian milestone; it is a beacon of hope for Africa and a testimony to what is attainable.
The IMF also expects that India will be the fastest-growing major economy in the next two years. The Indian economy is expected to grow by 6.2 per cent in 2025 and 6.3 per cent in 2026, higher than global and regional counterparts.

The 10-day cultural and commercial celebration of India's 'King of Fruits' showcased the rich diversity and flavor of Indian mangoes, drawing an enthusiastic response from the local and international visitors alike. The festival featured around 50 varieties of mangoes, including the famed Alphonso, Dasheri, Langra, Kesar, Rajapuri, Malgova, Neelam, Badami, Imam Pasand, Kalapadi, Totapuri, Chakkarakkutti, Sindoori, and Mallika, among others. Alongside fresh fruits, visitors indulged in a delectable range of mango-based sweets and savories like cakes, sweets, ice creams, pickles, juices, and other dishes, showcasing the versatility of the fruit in Indian culinary traditions. Over 150,000 visitors belonging to over 60 nationalities attended the festival, underscoring the popularity of Indian mangoes and the deep cultural appreciation shared between India, Qatar and other countries. A total of 130,000 kilograms of mangoes were sold, while the combined sales of mangoes and mango products exceeded 160,000 kilograms—a testimony to the fruit's universal appeal. The event brought together 31 Indian companies, reflecting the growing strength of India-Qatar economic ties, especially in the agro-produce sector. The festival served not only as a platform for trade and promotion of Indian produce but also as a vibrant celebration of India's cultural heritage and agricultural excellence. In addition to the mango showcase, the festival included a variety of interactive activities such as quizzes and competitions, engaging families and children and adding a festive flavor to the marketplace. The Embassy of India expresses its sincere appreciation to the authorities of Souq Waqif and the Private Engineering Office for their productive collaboration in successfully organising the second edition of the Indian Mango Festival.

Tribune News Network Doha The IGTD EXIM Chamber of Commerce from India sent a high-level delegation to Qatar from June 16 to June 19, 2025, in coordination with the Embassy of India in Doha. The visit was part of IGTD's ongoing initiative to strengthen international trade linkages and boost Indian exports to the Gulf region. The Indian delegation comprised representatives from 11 companies across diverse sectors, including spices, cereals, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, ready-to-eat foods, frozen products, and confectionery. The visit served as a vital platform for exploring mutual trade interests, promoting collaboration between Indian exporters and Qatari importers, and identifying potential opportunities for joint ventures and investments. A key highlight of the visit was a B2B networking event organized in collaboration with the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC), Qatar. Held with the participation of leading hypermarkets, supermarkets, and food and agro businesses in Qatar, the event enabled Indian exporters to directly engage with potential buyers and distributors. The interactions provided a valuable opportunity to showcase product offerings and explore distribution and supply chain collaborations. In addition to the networking event, the delegation held focused meetings with major retail chains and key business entities in Qatar. These discussions aimed at establishing direct commercial linkages and expanding the footprint of Indian products in the Qatari retail market. A significant engagement during the visit was the meeting with board members of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The discussions centered around enhancing cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, processed foods, and spices. A presentation by Invest Qatar on the investment landscape and sectoral growth opportunities in Qatar offered valuable insights to the Indian delegation. Representatives from the banking sector and other key industries also participated in the meeting, reflecting the multi-sectoral interest in strengthening bilateral economic ties. The economic relationship between India and Qatar continues to grow robustly. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached $14.14 billion in FY 2024–25, with India's exports to Qatar amounting to $1.68 billion and imports from Qatar totaling $12.46 billion. These figures underscore the deepening economic interdependence between the two nations. The IGTD EXIM Chamber of Commerce, a trade promotion body headquartered in India, plays a pivotal role in connecting Indian businesses with international markets. Through trade missions, sector-specific collaborations, and business development initiatives, the chamber facilitates greater global market access for Indian exporters. The successful visit of the IGTD EXIM Chamber delegation marks another step forward in the deepening of commercial ties between India and Qatar. Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Airways (QA) has announced the signing of a strategic agreement with Barzan Holdings, and Satys Aerospace, a global specialist in aircraft painting and surface treatment solutions, to establish a pioneering widebody aircraft painting facility at Dukhan Air Base. In a statement, Qatar Airways said that this milestone collaboration forms part of a long-term partnership between Qatar Airways, Barzan Holdings, and Satys, aimed at enhancing Qatar's aviation ecosystem throughcapability building, technology transfer, and innovation. The new Qatar facility will be the first widebody Satys paint facility in the region to feature next-generation digital technology aircraft painting. Designed to accommodate commercial, VIP, and military aircraft, the project will include two widebody paint facilities, including a multipurpose hangar for light maintenance activities. The new facility will serve as a regional hub for airline operators across the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, offering access to specialised painting services that reduce aircraft ground time by eliminating the need to ferry aircraft overseas for livery changes or repainting. The cutting-edge digital technology with future plans for automatic robotic painting leverages environmentally friendly paint systems, including energy-efficient booths and waste management controls. The facility will also enable dual-use operations, supporting both civil and defence aviation needs by meeting respective technical and safety specifications, in full alignment with Qatar's strategy to localize high-value services, championing local aerospace expertise. This initiative reflects the shared commitment of Qatar Airways and Barzan Holdings to support Qatar National Vision 2030 by building high-value industrial capabilities, creating skilled jobs and promoting Qatar as a global leader in aviation technology and services. Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Badr Mohammed Al Meer, said: 'This partnership delivers strategic aviation infrastructure that serves both our national and regional ambitions. Together with Barzan Holdings and Satys, we are introducing breakthrough technologies by building local capabilities that will define the future of Qatar's aerospace sector.
