Coronation Street star reveals devastating update on beauty business after building burned down

A CORONATION Street star has revealed a devastating update after her beauty business burned down. The former ITV soap actress had created a successful side-hustle to her acting by training as a nail technician and setting up a salon in Middleton, Greater Manchester. 6 6 6 Yet last week, Katy Armstrong actress Georgia May Foote - who left Corrie in 2015 and whose character was killed off-screen two years later - took to Instagram to report her salon unit had burned down. She launched a fundraiser for herself and the other businesses affected while they await a potential insurance payout - yet was hit with flack from cruel online trolls. Georgia, 34, has now given a hard-hitting update - telling fans the building will now be demolished, before capturing her abandoned salon chair in the rubble. In another video posted to her Instagram grid, she thanked fans for their kindness to date and said: "Guys! thank you so much! "Unfortunately the building is now about to be demolished, my heart is broken. "I was to first of all say how sorry I am to anyone who has lost even a single item in that fire. I can't imagine how those who have things that can't be replaced feel. I'm so sorry. "I posted my last reel as an appeal to help us all get back to work as soon as possible, without us working we can't buy stock, without stock we can't work. It's the hardest situation for so many of us to be in. With our whole place of work and tools gone and families to feed and bills to pay." She then told how there had been a glimmer of happiness in the dire situation and said: "I aimed to raise 10k not thinking for a second we would bet this support! But here we are passing 10k! "There are 12 of us affected by this who work in the beauty industry and every penny will be evenly distributed to help us get back where we were." Devastated Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote reveals her beauty business has burned down in huge fire "Thank you for everything that has been donated too! "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep donating. We have all lost thousands each and this will help us so much. Links in bio! "If you have another business that has been affected from this fire and you want me to help you with your fundraisers please get in touch." GEORGIA'S JOURNEY Prior to her role on the popular ITV soap, she played Alison Simmons in Grange Hill for three years. And following her exit from the ITV soap, she took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2015. She was partnered with Giovanni Pernice, where they reached the final and finished as runners-up. Back in 2023, she revealed her normal salon day job eight years after bidding farewell to Weatherfield. She trained for two years for her career in beauty and set up her own brand, GMF Nails. In 2023, she told how she had moved to the Middleton premises and wrote on social media: "Georgia said: "It's been over two years since I qualified as a nail tech and it's been the best two years getting to know you all! "I spent the last two years working with some amazing girls who have now become life long friends, who taught me everything I needed to know, and gave me the confidence to do everything you guys throw at me! "Over three months ago I took the plunge to move into somewhere a bit more intimate, working alongside another incredible nail tech and I absolutely love our new little space guys!" She went onto admit that whilst acting was her main ambition in life, her new role in the nail industry allowed her some much needed "security." She added at the time: " "But nails gives me that little bit of head space and security most actors need! "I am very grateful you have all supported me every time I have had to run off to film something! It means a lot when you are proud! "I am now open to taking on new clients and looking forward to meeting many more of you!" 6 6 6

Eerie 'ghost town in the sky' theme park lies abandoned amid 'curse'

Ghost Town Village in the hills of North Carolina once thrived with thousands of visitors but is now a shadow of its former self with empty saloons, rotting wooden buildings, and rusting rides A chillingly deserted "ghost town in the sky" stands eerily still in the hills of North Carolina, in the US, a decade after its once-thriving amusement park went under. The towering rides have been abandoned to the elements, with the Wild-West-themed park, once a hotspot for movie stars and stunt men, now a haunting symbol of faded grandeur. Yet, there may be a glimmer of hope on the horizon. ‌ A terrifying 1,500 metre rollercoaster looms over vacant saloons on top of Buck Mountain, standing at 4,650 ft. The regional travel guide, Blue Ridge Mountain Life, has noted that some refer to Ghost Town Village as a "cursed amusement park." ‌ The concept for the park was conceived when the land was purchased from a local land owner named Uncle Dan Carpenter back in 1960. According to The Sun, R.B. Coburn had heard a tale about Uncle Dan Carpenter losing his sheep in a large cavern on top of Buck Mountain, reports t he Mirror US. Coburn sought out Carpenter who showed him where he had lost his sheep, sparking the dream for the park. Coburn believed the location held immense potential to transport tourists back to the old ghost towns of the Midwest that he had once visited himself. The task of building the park was colossal. Over two hundred locals joined forces to construct around 40 buildings, creating the ghost town at the peak of the mountain. Approximately 120,000 square feet of structures were built, utilising 91,000 metres of timber, 60,000 metres of plywood, and 9,000 kg of nails. The park's opening in 1961 drew huge crowds, making it a top destination in Western North Carolina and a popular filming location for TV Western stars from shows such as Laramie and Wagon Train. The hourly staged gunfights on the main street were a significant attraction, and the ride's unique selling point was its steep plunges in and out of the mountain. ‌ However, the park gradually fell into disrepair, leading to a decline in visitor numbers. The owners struggled with infrastructure issues, including water, power, and sewage problems. Employees began to express concerns about unpaid wages, and the park ultimately closed after the 2009 season. Despite being dubbed the "cursed amusement park" by Blue Ridge Mountain Life due to numerous failed attempts to reopen, the National Amusement Park Historical Association remains optimistic. According to a Facebook post by NAPHA on May 9, a potential buyer from Florida has expressed interest in purchasing the abandoned amusement park. The post also mentioned that the current owner, Jill McClure, intends to sell the property for entertainment purposes, rather than to a buyer who would repurpose it. The land is now earmarked for a housing development, but the buyer intends to turn the area into "a venue featuring country music, rodeos, and festivals, aiming to keep the park family-friendly."

Mystery crop circle with Joker face appears in field near UK historic landmark

A giant crop circle has suddenly appeared in a field near Bush Barrow, just a few hundred yards from Stonehenge, with the design featuring a clown's scary smile A mystery crop circle has appeared just metres from Stonehenge with the giant design featuring a clown's face. The huge crop formation is located in a field near Bush Barrow, just a few hundred yards from the iconic Neolithic stones in Wiltshire. Incredibly, the design depicts a clown with horns on it's head and features a scary-looking 'Joker' smile. ‌ Expert Hugh Newman, who has been studying the phenomena for years, has never seen anything like it before. "It's a new one for me,' Hugh revealed. "It's different from the usual designs. Some think it's aliens, some think it's people who make them. ‌ "But crop circles are remarkable in their own way. They've been recorded for years going back centuries and nobody ever sees them being created. "They have incredible geometric shapes and have been influencing culture for years. They are remarkable land art. They're like the Banksys of the fields.' Crop circles appear usually overnight, often in fields of wheat and corn. There are many theories about their formation which include earth energies, gravitational forces and even extra-terrestrial origins. The UK is a world hotspot for the mysterious formations, particularly in the south-west, with Wiltshire and Hampshire leading the way. Many enthusiasts believed they were caused by UFO landings, while some said magnetic shifts were behind the phenomenon. Others believe their origins come from ley lines – seams of spiritual energy that intersect sacred sites including Stonehenge. Some scientists accepted hoaxers had created intricate circles, but said other simpler versions were formed by magnetic shifts. They claimed magnetic fields gave rise to a current which electrocuted the crops, forcing them to lie flat on the ground. ‌ Monique Klinkenbergh, researcher and founder of the Crop Circle Visitor Centre & Exhibition, said in 2023: 'There are obviously man-made ones out there. But if you listen to eyewitness accounts, the unexplained circles have one thing in common. "They were formed in minutes, or seconds. There is definitely a mystery going on, but it's very hard to label the source, whether it is extra-terrestrial, paranormal or just nature. Wiltshire is so famous for its sites of heritage, and I believe the crop circles are attracted to those places.' The crop circle formed as thousands of people watched the sunrise over Stonehenge to celebrate the summer solstice, signifying the end of spring. Those who gathered for the spectacle on Saturday at the Neolithic monument braved a warm start to the morning as they marked the year's longest day. Solstice events at Stonehenge mark some of the rare occasions visitors are allowed close to the stones at the World Heritage site. English Heritage said around 25,000 people were at Stonehenge, with more than 400,000 views from around the world on the charity's livestream of the sunrise, which was greeted by the traditional drumming, chanting and cheering.
