BGT finalist Vinnie McKee says his late brother will be with him in spirit when he takes to the stage tonight
The singer also reveals his joy at being asked to perform at this year's Pride of Scotland Awards
HOLIDAY park bingo caller Vinnie McKee is one song away from being crowned the winner of this year's Britain's Got Talent.
The 29-year-old from Glasgow's Ruchazie is hoping Scotland will get behind him when he takes to the stage in tonight's live final.
And as he sings for the win Vinnie says his late brother Frankie, who passed away suddenly last year from a suspected irregular heartbeat will be there in spirit cheering him on.
The caravan park entertainer, whose version of Proclaimers' hit 'I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) bagged him Simon Cowell's golden buzzer in his audition said: 'When I step on stage tonight my brother will be there with me and I will 100 per cent be singing for him.
'I felt Frankie beside me when I sang in the live semi-final. I spoke to him before I went on saying he better be on stage waiting for me as I could not walk out there myself and he was.
'Losing him has been devastating for my whole family. Last year was the worst time of our lives but BGT has given us all something to be excited about. It's been a bit of light at the end of a very long tunnel.
Vinnie, who stormed into the final after winning the public vote in the semis, added: 'When I sang 500 Miles in my audition it was an ode to my brother and everything that has happened to our family.
'I didn't say that out loud at the time but I think everyone could feel and hear the emotion in my voice as I sang the words.
'My mum, dad, sister, aunt and uncle will all be in the audience tonight and Frankie will be with me on stage cheering me on. I want to make him, my family and Scotland proud.'
Vinnie, who is set to perform at this year's Pride of Scotland Awards, will be joined in the final by LED dance crew The Blackouts, 11-year-old guitar prodigy Olly Pearson, ping pong dancing troupe Ping Pong Pang and comedian Joseph Charm.
Singers Maya Giotea and Stacey Leadbeatter, the Hear Our Voice choir, nine-year-old gymnast Binita Chetry and drag queen singer Jasmine Rice are also in the race for the talent show crown.
Although judges Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell will be giving their opinion on each act, who wins will all come down to the public vote and Vinnie hopes Scotland will get behind him.
If he is victorious the soulful singer will be the second Scot to win the hit ITV show - following in the footsteps of Jai McDowell who took top spot in 2011.
Vinnie, whose semi final cover of Snow Patrol hit Chasing Cars wowed viewers, said: 'I am so proud to be flying the flag for Scotland and it would be amazing if the nation got behind me tonight and voted.
'I feel like I have already won as reaching a final is a huge achievement for a wee boy from the East End of Glasgow.'
Vinnie admits his BGT journey is a world away from his day job at Thurston Manor holiday park near Edinburgh, where he runs kids' clubs and does the bingo calling and he's loving every minute.
The performer, who would buy a retirement home for his parents Ann and Joe with the £250,000 prize money, said: 'When I started in the holiday parks, I really loved it. My dream was to be this singer who performs for people and gets them to listen to my own music, but the dream got further away over the years but now thanks to BGT is back and I'm living it.
'This is the biggest thing I have ever done and I have to pinch myself sometimes to make sure it is really happening. I'm used to singing in front of a room full of families in a caravan park and now I'm singing live in front of millions.
'After my audition the clip went viral on YouTube and the most crazy part was that I overtook Lady Gaga and Beyoncé on the trending list. A few celebrities have also been posting me on their social media too. It's just crazy.'
The former St Andrews RC Secondary School pupil added: 'I went into my old high school last week and was able to tell the kids that no matter where they come from or what their background is they should never let go of their dreams because just look at me.
'I would never have imagined my dreams would have come true the way they have and hopefully it's only the beginning.
'It has inspired me to just go for it and make singing my full-time job. If I could do this every day for the rest of my life I would never retire. It's my passion and my dream.'
Vinnie, who is planning to get into a studio soon and record some songs, says he will be forever indebted to Simon Cowell.
The singer, who would love to do a collaboration with the Proclaimers, said: 'I'm chuffed to be Simon's first ever Scottish golden buzzer. I couldn't believe it when he pushed it and the confetti started raining down. He told me it was the best rendition of 500 Miles he had ever heard.
'During the audition I was trying not to look at the audience but I caught Simon's eye at one point and he was smiling. He was so lovely to me afterwards too.
'When I was standing on the stage in the semi-final and my VT was playing I looked down at the judges and Simon smiled at me and said, 'You've got this.' He also gave me the thumbs up.
'Knowing that he was rooting for me meant so much and I want to continue to make him proud as he took a chance on me and gave me the golden buzzer.'
He added: 'I'm ready to give the performance of my life tonight so keep everything crossed for me. Bring it on! I've never been so prepared and I'm raring to go.
'I can't reveal what song I will be singing in the final but it's my twist on a classic by a well known band and I think folk should have their tissues at the ready.'
Vinnie says he is also excited about performing at the Daily Record Pride of Scotland Awards with P&O Cruises on June 23.
He said: 'I am over the moon and thrilled to have been asked to sing at the Awards and celebrate the nation's unsung heroes. Knowing that I will also be performing in front of some of the biggest names in Scotland is just unreal.
'It will be my first performance back home after appearing in the BGT final and I will be singing the Proclaimers' classic that kicked it all off so it's going to be extra special. I can't wait.'

Some Central Belt festivals will see their funding more than tripled, with the overall pot totalling £2.8m across the 14 festivals, up from £1.7m the previous year. Cathy Agnew, chair of Wigtown Festival Company, which runs Wigtown Book Festival, as well as stand alone children's book festival Big Dog in Dumfries, said: "Additional funding is urgently needed for the arts in every part of Scotland and it will be a missed opportunity if extra resources are not being spread beyond the Central Belt right away. 'Arts and cultural organisations in rural areas are in especially urgent need of support as they often have little chance of finding sponsorship and support from other sources. Many had hoped that this round of funding would help them in difficult times.' It recognises the success of festivals in shaping and supporting hundreds of commissions, enhancing the ambitions of thousands of Scottish artists and attracting audiences in the millions for Expo supported work since the fund's creation in 2007.' It is managed by Creative Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government. A ministerial statement by Mr Robertson in the wake of Finance Secretary Shona Robison's Budget announcement in January, which included a £34m package for the arts and culture sector, announced the Festivals Expo fund would 'more than double in value and expand its reach beyond Edinburgh and Glasgow'. A timescale was not set, but it is believed many festivals had expected the expansion would come at the same time as any increase to the funding pot itself. Love Island star and Saint Phnx singer can't wait to broadcast live from our People's Oscars. LOVE Island's Paige Turley and Saint Phnx's Stevie Jukes are used to gracing the red carpet but both agree no other awards show will ever top Pride of Scotland. The bubbly pair, who are red carpet hosts at Monday night's glittering event, will chat to the inspirational winners and celebrity guests as they make their way into Glasgow's Hilton for this year's star-studded ceremony. Paige and Stevie say they can't wait to bring the nation all the gossip and style live from the red carpet which promises to be one of the most star-studded yet. It's the first time Stevie, 40, who formed chart toppers Saint Phnx with brother Alan, 37, in 2016, has been on the other side of the mic but says he is suited and booted and raring to go. The dad-of-two, from Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, said: 'I'm buzzing about Monday night and have had my velvet jacket, shiny shoes and dickie bow looked out for weeks. 'My brother has been ribbing me about it and keeps saying things like 'Here comes big red carpet Steve.' He thinks he is hilarious but just wait until it's his turn to be interviewed! 'It's the first time I have ever done anything like this but I would love to work in radio so this will be good practice as I will have to think on my feet. 'You would think I would be nervous but I'm not. For the past year Alan and I have been doing workshops in schools and trying to sing on a Monday morning in a gold gym hall in front o0 kids pretty much prepares you for anything.' Stevie, whose new single 'Arabella' - a collaboration with singer Nathan Evans - is out next week, added: 'I'm really looking forward to working with Paige. We met at the Pride of Scotland awards a few years ago when Saint Phnx were performing and we hit it off right away. 'I've been given a sneak peak at all the winners and I can't wait to meet them on the red carpet and put a face to their names. 'The only thing I am a wee bit worried about is recognising the celebrities but I'll just give Paige a wee nudge and hopefully she will tell me who they are.' This is Paige's fourth year as red carpet host and the singer from Fauldhouse, West Lothian, is looking forward to teaming up with Stevie and being the ying to his yang. The 27-year-old, who co-hosted last year with Love Island's Laura Anderson, said: 'I'm excited about hosting with Stevie as he is a really lovely guy and hopefully we will compliment each other. 'I'm all about the style and fashion and he can talk to folk about other things. Our job is to put everyone at their ease because the red carpet can be a daunting place, especially for the winners. 'It's my absolutely favourite night of the year as the awards shine a light on people who have been doing so much for others but never seek any recognition.' Paige, who has been travelling all over Scotland with the Big Shiny Disco Brunch Crew, added: 'I'm bringing my dad with me again this year as he absolutely loves it. 'Two years ago he was carrying my handbag for me and his hero Graeme Souness came across to him and said 'Like your bag big man.' He was stoked. 'I'm also bringing my boyfriend Kieran with me. It will be his first time on a red carpet in Scotland and I know he is going to love it as much as I do.' From acts of kindness and selfless bravery to raising millions for charity, it's no wonder the Daily Record Pride of Scotland Awards with P&O Cruises is the People's Oscars. The combination of big hearts and big stars have made our annual awards, which began in 2020 and will once again be compared by Elaine C Smith and Sanjeev Kohli, a runaway success. Although Stevie, who is dad to Jacob, 18 and Charlie, nine, has never presented at the awards before he has performed twice and knows just how emotional the night can be. He says he will never forget meeting Child of Courage Zac Gunn, who sadly passed away earlier this month after receiving a long-awaited lung transplant. Stevie, whose single Happy Place - written after losing his dad to pulmonary fibrosis - topped the Scottish charts in 2021, said: 'That wee boy's cheeky smile will stay with me forever. He was such a funny wee guy and he had an aura which lit up the room. 'My wife is a neonatal midwife at Wishaw General and looked after Zac when he was born. We were both devastated when he passed away. 'We met him when he won his award and we have kept in touch with the family ever since. Like Zac, so many of the Pride of Scotland winners end up leaving a massive impression on your heart.' He added: 'Last year it was Lochlan Murdoch whose story really impressed me. The teenager has Type 1 diabetes and set up a charity to help educate sports teams and clubs about the condition. 'He's just a wee guy who has taken a difficult scenario in his life and done something positive about it to help others which I find really inspiring.' Paige, who won season six of Love Island with ex Finley Tapp, admits she will be stocking up on paper hankies before Monday as she always has a good greet. The singer, who is also a Pride of Scotland judge, said: 'I was blubbing in the judging room and I haven't even met the winners yet. 'So many of the unsung heroes have made a lasting impression on me. People like the beautiful little Mila Sneddon who battled leukaemia and won the heart of the Princess of Wales during lockdown. 'I also love the pure Scottishness of the winners. Where else in the world would you meet a granny who tackled a burglar and a wee pony wearing a kilt?' Stevie, who is working on a Collaboration album with Nathan Evans and is just back from a joint European tour, recalls the moment he met his hero Rangers goalie Allan McGregor. He said: 'As everyone knows Alan and I are massive Rangers fans. We met Greegsy at the awards a couple of years ago and ended up having a few drinks with him in the bar afterwards. 'My brother ended up getting Allan to take invisible penalties at him. We ended up becoming friends with him and he invited us into the box at his testimonial. 'We've been out with him a few times now he has publicly admitted Saint Phnx are his favourite band. I've gone to heaven with that one.' He added: 'Pride has become a very special part of my life and I am honoured to have been asked to be a part of it again this year. There's just something magical about the awards and I can't wait to pull on my suit and go red carpet live.' We launched our search for our local heroes of 2025 back in January and were inundated with thousands of nominations from across the nation. Categories include the Emergency Services Award, Teenager of Courage, Young Fundraiser, Outstanding Bravery, the King's Trust Young Achiever, Special Recognition and the P&O Cruises Inspiration Award.
