16 Normalised Things People Aren't On Board With
Recently, u/ibrahimelmouttaqi asked r/AskReddit, "What's one 'normal' thing people do that you secretly think is absolutely insane?" So we thought we'd share some of the most popular responses.
"Put all their personal business on social media."
"People posting their kids on social media, especially place like reddit, where you can't really control who see it. Especially if it's for some kind of internet points. Even worse are the motherhood influencers."
"Blow a year's salary on loan for a ring and wedding ceremony."
"Going into debt to buy shit to impress people they don't even know."
"Buy a new water bottle or cup every time it's trendy. Nalgene, Tervis, Yeti, Hydroflask, Stanley Cup.... It's just bizarre to me that every time it's cups."
"Filming intimate moments instead of living them."
"PHONES WHILE DRIVING. Not secretly, but I find it insanely irresponsible."
"Going to work sick because 'we need you' – like they can't find someone else to cover the shift. No wonder people don't want to work."
"People just scrolling their phones nonstop for hours like it's totally normal… It's wild how addicted we all are and act like it's nothing."
"Worshipping celebrities. For example, the Kardashians. They really don't care about the everyday person. They live in mansions, fly wherever, eat the best foods, buy whatever they feel like. They truly live in another world. Why do so many people follow every social media manufactured event in their lives?"
"Disbelief in provable facts. Denialism is a real thing…"
"Speeding everywhere. Like WTF. I live in a rural area with lots of winding roads and people fly down them."
"Deny or downplay a bad situation, where recognition is the first step toward anything getting better."
"Road rage, I feel like when operating heavy machinery capable of easily killing people and destroying property, that it's top priority to keep a level head. But the way some people act or talk about others on the road or even towards pedestrians and cyclists is fucking crazy."
"Licking their fingers when they have sauce or stuff on them. That's why I fist bump instead of shaking hands. People won't and don't wash their hands anymore. Its freaking foul.."
"Check each other's phones. You say you trust each other, but do this? I don't get it."
H/T to u/ibrahimelmouttaqi and r/AskReddit for having the discussion!

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Hold Hands While Leaving NYC Restaurant After Sweet Date Night
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have thrilled fans thanks to another sweet date night sighting. The couple, both 35, stepped out in New York City on Friday, June 20 and were snapped holding hands while leaving a restaurant following their outing. In footage shared via a fan account, Swift and Kelce were seen exiting what appeared to be a back exit of the venue, while an employee held the door open for them. Kelce shook the employee's hand before departing. Dressing for the summer heat, the 'Bad Blood' singer wore a pale blue tank top matched with a floaty, dusty pink skirt for the occasion, while the Kansas City Chiefs tight end opted for all-white attire, rocking a matching T-shirt and shorts. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Spotted During Their 2nd New York City Date in a Row Similar to many of their previous date nights, Swift and Kelce didn't seem to be afraid of subtle public displays of affection and sweetly held hands while on the move. The spotting is the latest in a spate of outings for the pair, who have been enjoying quality time together following an incredibly busy period in their respective careers. Last week, the athlete and pop star attended the Stanley Cup Finals in Sunrise, Florida on June 12. During the game, fans captured Swift and Kelce sharing a kiss and packing on the PDA as they watched the Edmonton Oilers face off against the Florida Panthers. Swift and Kelce also attended a wedding in Tennessee and were spotted enjoying each other's company on several other date nights at restaurants earlier this month. While they have emerged this month for their recent public date nights, Kelce and Swift had been deliberately lying low after they both experienced a jam-packed year. Swift wrapped up her Eras Tour in December 2024 while Kelce played the Super Bowl in February, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Pack on the PDA at Stanley Cup Game With a Touching Kiss An insider exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month that the duo were staying out of the spotlight intentionally. 'They are making fewer public appearances together because [their relationship] brings too much unwanted attention,' the source told Us on June 4, 'but there isn't trouble in paradise.' In February, the athlete's dad, Ed Kelce, shared his two cents on how he thought his son's relationship with Swift would progress once both their schedules were clear. 'I think, you know, once we get past the Super Bowl, I think it's going to be a very good period of time for the two of them,' he told Australia's Today show. 'Without the NFL season, without the Eras tour. Just them alone really connecting more. I think that can only be a good thing.'

17 Unexplainable Events That Have Happened To People
To the absolute detriment of my sleep schedule, I love reading about creepy mysteries in people's lives. So when redditor u/Sean-Witheniand asked the r/AskReddit community to share the most unexplainable event that has happened to them, I scrolled for a while, and put together some of the most terrifying and baffling stories I found. "This happened just under six months ago, but I had intense dreams for about two weeks straight of the same man that I had never seen before in my life, and every single instance that I saw him, he was trying to hurt/kill me. Literally, every time I slept, he was suffocating me with a bag, slipping something in a drink, finding my house, stalking me, etc. After dreaming about him for two weeks or so, I met this man in real life at a gas station. We didn't talk to each other. I knew nothing about him, but he was there, and I could immediately tell it was him." "I had sleep paralysis about seven years ago. I had just had surgery and was sore, so I slept on the couch the first night. I opened my eyes and could not move. What I'd guess was a demon or some kind of dark entity was standing over me. Then suddenly, I looked at myself in the mirror and had red glowing eyes. I woke up, and I was so terrified. I didn't give a shit how sore I was; I got into bed with my husband at the time." "There was a huge earthquake in San Francisco in the '80s. My dad was there for a conference. We felt the quake where we were, and I suddenly started screaming, 'Dad! Dad! Look out for the chandelier!' My mom and siblings were understandably freaked out. When we finally got ahold of him, he told us he'd been in a ballroom when the quake hit and had a sudden urge to jump to the side. A chandelier fell right where he was previously standing. My family never talks about it. It freaked everyone out severely." "Both of my parents (who were divorced) essentially died on the same day this past December. My dad was in a hospital in Detroit for a double bypass after his fifth heart attack and died from complications late on a Monday. Earlier that same day, around 4 p.m., I found out my mom had unexpectedly died in her home in a tiny town in upstate Michigan, four hours from Detroit. It's about as shitty a situation as you could imagine." "I was working in a lab with skeletal remains, many of which were Native American ancestral remains. I was used to working with skeletons, cataloging and measuring bones, and whatnot, and I had never experienced anything that felt supernatural. This lab was created to repatriate the Native American remains that had been excavated locally and had been severely mishandled by the university for decades. I had a box that contained only a skull, and when I opened the box, I felt anger resonating from this skull." "I was in high school at a friend's birthday party. Her parents booked us a suite at a resort hotel, the kind with a mini water park you can use free if you're staying in the hotel. It was a pool party/sleepover, and we got the whole suite to ourselves, though her mom was in an adjoining room. We were staying up late watching movies, one was a horror movie about a murderer, and we were doing what teenage girls do: getting scared of nothing. Somehow we got it in our heads there was a killer outside waiting to break in and murder us." "I was at home after hanging out with my family all day. It was about 11 p.m. when I came in. I heard a low, creepy voice say, 'Fire, there is going to be danger.' I was so scared I thought my dad was messing with me, but no one was in the house, absolutely no one. The next day, we hung out again. It was midnight when we came in to get more drinks. We all smelled this horrible stench of smoke." "I used to visit my grandmother every couple of months or so — it wasn't a far drive, about 30 minutes. One day, I was at Walmart and randomly thought of her. Walmart was about halfway to her house, and I didn't buy perishables, so I figured, why not stop and see her? As I pull into her driveway, she is sitting on her front porch; she looks up at me and looks back down. I immediately knew something was wrong because she always jumped up to greet me. As I approached, I noticed her lips were blue, and I started calling 911. Her lungs were 80% filled with fluid, and she had two collapsed heart valves. The paramedics told me if I got caught at a red light, she'd probably be dead. She was around 80 years old at the time. She passed away at 95 a year ago." "I have no idea how I got home from a bar one night. I was living on my own and went out with some childhood friends and my brother. The next thing I remember was waking up in my childhood bedroom in my parents' house. My brother and friends were freaking out because they had no idea what happened to me. They didn't really understand what happened. They said I had two, maybe three drinks that got me really drunk, then started making plans to leave when I disappeared. I drove to the bar that night, and they went outside to see if my car was still there, which it was. My parents said four guys they had never seen carried me to the door and helped take me upstairs. My parents knew the people I was out with, but these were different people." "When I was 21, my boyfriend (now my husband) had moved to the outskirts of Pittsburgh. I was in the process of preparing to move there myself and came down for a visit. When we were sleeping the first night, I was grabbed by the arm and pulled out of bed by a black figure. I screamed and fought, and when I came to or woke up, or whatever you call it, I was standing out of the bed right where I had been dragged to. Everyone convinced me it was a nightmare, and I put it out of my mind until I moved into the house." "I was still living at my parents' house, and at around 2:30 a.m., our Rottweiler was sitting at the back door barking, wanting to go out to use the bathroom. I threw on a hoodie and sweatpants and walked to the back door, where I found her growling and staring out the window. It was a little unnerving, but because of the dog, I felt safe enough to step out with her for a minute or two. As soon as I opened the door, she bolted to the corner of our property. On the side of the lawn she chose, we had one standalone lamp post that provided just enough light to get a rough idea of the landscape." "I was sitting on the couch with my then-girlfriend, and an adjacent wall covered the stairs to the second floor. Suddenly, we hear what sounds like someone stomping/running down the stairs. Naturally, I jumped up, assuming someone had broken in, but there was nobody there. We checked every room upstairs, every closet, under every bed — nothing. We then went on to have a bunch of other weird and unexplained shit happen during the three years we lived in that house." "When I was a teenager, I almost died. I was on a cross-country team. I was running through a forest and suddenly got a cramp, which made me stop moving for a second. At that exact moment, I stopped running, and a tree landed exactly where I would've been. That cramp saved my life." "This isn't exactly easy to talk about, and people don't always believe me when I tell them, but here it is: I died. I got drunk and decided to go for a drive to clear my head (don't do that). It was a cool night, just perfect to have the windows down, and I wanted to hear the turbo whistle. It was about 11 p.m., so not too many people out in my area. I took a sharp turn in a 25mph zone at about 60mph about a mile from my house and rolled my truck. It was noisy; I was bloody almost instantly from hitting my nose/head, and I rolled, I'd say, probably four to five times." "It's not so much unexplainable, but by far the freakiest interaction I've had with a stranger. It was 2001. I was 14. I walked to McDonald's since it was five minutes from my house. I waited in line, got my bag of food, and walked over to the soda machine to fill my cup, and I realized they didn't give me a lid (this was one of those plastic souvenir cups, so I couldn't use a lid in the dispenser near the machine). I walked back to the counter and waited for the worker to turn and help me when a guy waiting in line next to me said, 'You better do something tomorrow.'" "Many years ago, I woke up sick and couldn't go to school. It was the only time I had ever been sick for school. Anyway, I had a small black-and-white TV in my bedroom, and I turned it on and watched live as a space shuttle took off and then suddenly blew up. Many years later, I phoned in sick from work, something I had never done before. I turned on the TV just in time to watch live as an airplane flew into a tower." "This happened 25 years ago before everyone had access to cell phones and you couldn't find personal information online. My friend and I were driving when she decided to take a shortcut through an alley. Suddenly, I heard my cellphone ring, which I had just bought the week before. There was a lot of static, and a woman on the other end said, 'You need to get out of there, turn around, and go the other way.'" Did you ever have an inexplicable event happen in your life? 22 Extremely Kind, Loving Things Men Have Said To Women
Okay, even I, with my cold, cold heart, know rom-com material when I see it. So, when I came across this post on the popular Ask Reddit page, I had to check it out. In it, user Anxious-Guarantee111 asked, "Women, what has a man told you that touched your heart more than you let on?" and the answers are even better than you might think. Here are some of the best: "Whatever we are, I'm just glad I have you in my life. If you aren't in the future, this will be an amazing memory. If you are, I won't let you go." "Almost four years ago now, my best friend committed suicide. At the time, me and my current boyfriend had only just gotten into a relationship. I lost my mum when I was pretty young and I knew I was going to be mourning for a while. I gave him an out. Told him he didn't sign up for this and that there were no hard feelings and we could still be friends if he walked away." "He said to me that he did in fact sign up for this. He told me that when you commit to someone, supporting them when they're not at their best is in the small print of a relationship. He said he wasn't going anywhere." "That night, and many nights after it, he held me as I cried myself to sleep. He didn't expect me to be fixed overnight, he just gave me the time and space to heal." "'You can do it.' — my husband, when I was trying to decide whether or not I should go back to school at 40 when I lost my job due to COVID." "I made my boyfriend meet my whole family in one go, basically." "One of my best friends is a man; he's a physician. I got really sick a couple years ago, and I was in the ICU where he works." "My fiancé tells me I'm his best friend and favorite person." "'I feel like I can be myself with you.' I strive to find a relationship where we can both be that comfy and at home again." "'If you get hurt, I get hurt.' Something my father told me once that I remember." "'I still can't believe I'm with you, I'm the luckiest man in the world.' He said it at least once a week when we were together, big smile and eyes glowing. I still can't believe it's over." "We were talking about moving and making a place feel like home. Then he just said, 'It doesn't matter where, as long as you're there. You're my home.' It completely caught me off guard, I even teared up. I smiled for days after that." "'You are my daughter. That means my love for you is unconditional.'" "'I'll be on the next flight. You're not going through this alone.' — my fiancé after my dad passed." "I was at my brother's wedding. It was a great time, and I was feeling very good about how I looked. Things were going great, I was a little tipsy, my gown got caught on my heel and I fell right on my butt in front of the uncles' table. Not bad guys, just ones who will tease you about something for the rest of your life if they have something." "This is a dumb one but he told me unprompted that my carnitas are better than Chipotle's and I'm still floating from that." "I had a pretty traumatizing childhood and then teenage years and the effects are lingering still. My mum passed away suddenly when I was 13, then my dad basically drank himself to death last year; it's been a wild ride for sure." "He told me, 'You made me feel special' just because I couldn't wait to see him. The fact that something so simple was genuinely enough for him, and that I could tell no one had made him feel that way in a while, really moved me." "He told me he never knew what real love was before he met me. I was not his first girlfriend." "My boyfriend once said, 'I'm just here to make you smile. The rest is gravy.'" "The first time we had an issue between us, instead of blaming me and absolving himself of any wrongdoing, he immediately apologized, acknowledged what he did, and asked me what steps we needed to take to fix it. And I was just gobsmacked." And finally: "'I'll wait for you.'" If you're as dewy-eyed as I am, you might need to go put on Notting Hill or When Harry Met Sally.
