A couple from Barry had been chasing happiness in the UK, climbing the corporate ladder and hoping money would lead to happiness. Now Clare and Ian, along with three kids, have decided to leave it all behind and move across the world for good.
"We are choosing to up sticks and move to some of the poorest communities in the world and we're happy to earn the bare minimum because we see how happy they are and we want that," Clare explained.

Clare, 39, and Ian, 36, have been sharing their travels online since 2018 when a death close to them prompted them to cut costs wherever they could and save up for a trip of a lifetime.

They moved in with Clare's parents and then Ian took a six-month sabbatical from work. The trip changed everything for them.
"I had lost my grandmother who was really really close to us. We also lost a family friend who was similar age to me and had two children like us at the time.
"He was a paratrooper and they read out his eulogy and as we drove away from his funeral I looked at Clare and was like well if I die tomorrow there's nothing going to be said about me. I had that really insecure moment of "What have we done with our lives?"

"At that point, Clare asked me, "what do you want to do then?", and I said I wanted to go traveling. That was it, our minds were set."

In the seven years since their big trip which saw them travel South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand, they've continued to travel the world with their children and share it online, amassing a following of over 100k. Now their children, aged 13, 11 and 5, have visited close to 50 countries.

Ian said: "Whilst Clare's been a full time mum I've focused on climbing the corporate ladder in the hope that the further up that ladder you get and the more money you get, the happier you'll get and I think what we've realized, and we've known for a while, is that extra income doesn't come with happiness, it comes with more pressure, it come with more stress."
"It doesn't matter where on the ladder you get or what income you have, it's no different. The stresses and the pressures that we have as a family now are no different to those 13 years ago when we had a snippet of that income."
The couple explained that they're looking forward to giving up all the things they've got to "make life in the UK good" and were looking forward to a more simple way of life. For money-saving tips, sign up to our Money newsletter here .

"We just want to wake up in a shack somewhere, stroll onto the beach, eat a corn for lunch that somebody's cooked on the beach," Clare explained.
Clare and Ian admitted they'd had to learn a lot along the way

In August they'll leave Barry and set off. They plan on spending around four months travelling South East Asia, visiting Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

They admitted they don't know where they'll end up after, they are considering staying in Thailand for a bit or continuing to travel and make the most of the freedom and resources available through their social media platform.
They've enrolled their two older children in an online Cambridge-accredited school and will be home schooling their youngest - the couple were keen to stress how important it was for them to protect their education.
When I asked them if they think they'll ever move back, they both said they don't see that happening but admitted it would come down to the children.

Ian said: "I think if the children come to us and say they really want to go back and that was a conversation we were having over a prolonged period of time, we would probably have to look at each other and go, right, we need to do what's right for everybody. But I genuinely don't believe that will happen."

While their Instagram feed looks glamorous, full of exotic and picturesque destinations most of us only dream of visiting, Ian has often been working on his laptop off camera.

He admitted that juggling tight annual leave restrictions and building their travel content business has meant he would always have to bring his work laptop away with him.
The couple explained they would go on a three week trip but Ian would only use one week of annual leave and spend the other two weeks working remotely.
Ian said: "I'd have to be working and we've been in places like Mexico where the time difference is silly and I'd have to get up at 3am and work 3am till 2pm in the afternoon to be on UK time and then go and do what we need to do on the other side."

The couple hope what they do will inspire people to do the things they've always wanted to do.
Ian said: "I think our motto is that life is way too short, a lot of people save and work extremely hard to put money in the bank, they save it for something in the future when that future is not guaranteed.
"I would just urge people to maybe re-evaluate that, and if it's something they really want to do just do it. We might not even make it to 50, 60, 70, so what are we doing planning for it?"

I went to the new London riverside beach club that feels like you're in the south of France

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) AS the UK enjoys the prolonged hot weather, Battersea Power Station's new riverside beach club is just the spot to be. ArcadeX offers an escape away from the monotone colours of the city's skyscrapers. And the destination transports you out of the city to the south of France, with vibrant decorations and an array of food offerings to suit all. From frozen margaritas to signature tequila serves, the entire cocktail list has been created by @the_cocktailguy on Instagram, who has over 130,000 followers. However, if you are more of a beer or wine fan - these drinks are available too. There are a few different food options as well, including a pizza vendor, bao vendor and taco vendor. All the prices are affordable, as they are small plates with a bao bun setting you back a few quid, and the same for the pizza. I opted for the classic pork bao bun for £3.50 and the Baonut - essentially a doughnut - for £4. Both were tasty, and enough to keep me going without feeling overly full. Other local gems like Borough 22 Doughnuts and Two Little Giraffes gelato will also be available at times throughout the summer. There is even live music and whilst I sat enjoying the sunshine, a saxophonist performed adding to the feeling that you really are in some exclusive summer club. Capri Beach Club, Exchange Manchester As the summer goes on, the venue will also host entertainment with live screenings of music, cultural and sporting events such as Glastonbury, Wimbledon Tennis, Tour De France and the Women's Euros. Arguably, one of the best elements of ArcadeX are the gigantic daybeds - and to avoid missing out on them, you can book them prior to your visit. The daybeds are available for two to four guests, with a duration of two hours and visitors are required to meet a minimum spend of £20 per person through food and drink purchases. Just a stroll from the jetty is the Power Station itself, which towers into the sky. At the top, the glass box emerges from out of the chimney like something out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, to see amazing views of the city from a different angle. The riverside pop-up is open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 10pm for 12 weeks across this summer. In the mean time, here is a 'Capri-inspired' beach bar with real sand and Ibiza-style DJ sessions in a major UK city. Ibiza holiday mass poolside brawl as woman knocked out with flying chair

The clash erupted at the Marco Polo hotel in San Antonio on the Balearic Island. Ibiza's legendary party scene was interrupted this weekend as a dramatic poolside brawl broke out at a popular hotel, with footage showing a woman copping a blow from a flying chair in the madness. The wild scenes at the renowned Marco Polo hotel in San Antonio were caught on camera and quickly went viral on Instagram after being uploaded by user @sanantonioibiza. ‌ What started as an idyllic sun-soaked afternoon by the pool spiralled into complete chaos as a group of holidaymakers tangled in a scrap. The clip shows several individuals grappling and losing their footing on the slick surfaces around the pool area, adding to the turmoil, reports the Mirror. ‌ During the melee, a man dressed in navy shorts is spotted lobbing a chair in the direction of others already in the water. A woman wearing a dark swimsuit gets caught up in the brawl and falls over, while two more stumble over toppled chairs. Despite a lifeguard attempting to intercept the airborne chair, his efforts are in vain as the chaos continues. Additional members of the hotel team are seen trying to calm the storm. Ironically, all the drama unfolded beneath a sign that read "Good Vibes Only". Adding to the irony, Jess Glynne's hit song Hold My Hand, famously used as the upbeat anthem for Jet2Holidays, can be heard playing clearly in the background. The Instagram footage was humorously titled: "Yeah, a chair flew... but so did the vibes. Only at Marco Polo #ibizaexperience #ibizaunfiltered". The comments section exploded with reactions from viewers, left both horrified and amused by the clip. One user joked: "The message on the wall is the best thing", while another pointed out: "The more you watch, the more you see." ‌ Yet, some were concerned for the woman's welfare, questioning: "Is anyone going to see how that poor woman is doing?" A few connected the brawl to wider issues, remarking: "No wonder the Spanish people are striking." The cause of the fight remains unclear, and hotel staff have yet to comment on the incident. The video has sparked renewed discussions about tourism, behaviour, and respect in one of Europe's most popular holiday hotspots.

I'm a travel agent - I couldn't WAIT to leave this popular tourist destination after horrible ordeal that proves the place gets worse every time you go

A travel agent has revealed all the reasons she couldn't wait to leave Egypt, after being 'constantly hassled' while holidaying at the tourist hotspot. Penny, who posts as @pennygoestravelling on Instagram, has taken to the social media site to share her bad experiences with the Midde East country. In a video, she can be seen boarding a plane out of Egypt, looking very excited, along with the caption: 'Reasons why I couldn't WAIT to leave Egypt'. She writes: I've been to Egypt multiple times and each time, my experience worsens. 'I've found the constant lying, hassling for money and scamming culture so exhausting. 'Nothing that was done for us either by tour guides or hotel staff was done as part of general good service but instead was all for a way to extract extra cash on top of what was already paid.' In the video, Penny shares several different ways she was 'hassled' for money in Egypt, claiming the first incident happened at the airport, 'as soon as we landed'. She adds: 'Got scammed by a fake Uber driver. Then got scammed by the real Uber driver.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Penny - Travel Agent (@pennygoestravelling) The video then cuts to a clip of Penny trapped inside an Egyptian tomb, along with the caption: 'Trapped in a tomb for tips.' An Egyptian local can then be seen trying to sell Penny and her friends something as they're trying to get in a car. Penny adds: 'Constantly hassled by locals selling bookmarks, figurines, any old junk for $$, then being met with aggression when we said NO.' The next frustrating part of Penny's Egypt holiday was after she 'paid for a 'luxury cruise down the Nile'' only to end up 'on a dirty old boat driven by a 12-year-old boy'. Penny also claims she was 'sent into a shop by our tour guide and trapped in the store to buy something – TWICE'. Her frustrations even continued up to when she was at the airport to leave Egypt. She says she and her friends had 'airport searches on repeat, requiring personal info and/or money before bags returned,' and were also forced to 'walk miles to the airport lounge which we were told was free, as Amex Platinum card holders, only to then be demanded to pay €175 [£150] for access'. Another reason Penny isn't a fan of Egypt, she says, is the 'hours of haggling'. She finishes: 'If you are low on confidence and have lots of spare cash, don't mind being ogled at, cat called, being constantly asked for money in return for nothing, and if you enjoy your personal space being invaded, then Egypt is perfect. Otherwise, get back on the plane' She explains: 'Prices always start off insanely high whatever you're buying (massages started at €305 [£261] and, after an hour of haggling, prices were agreed at €25 [£21]) and it's time consuming and soul destroying to spend so much of our vacation bartering. 'Nothing is priced reasonably anywhere.' Aside from the money culture, Penny insists 'Egypt is not for the faint hearted woman'. She adds: 'Men will stare and say obscene things to you - I'm not sure what reaction they hope to achieve but nevertheless, these constant comments and looks can make you feel uncomfortable. 'Even though I was travelling with four men it seems that doesn't put the locals off.' She finishes: 'If you are low on confidence and have lots of spare cash, don't mind being ogled at, cat called, being constantly asked for money in return for nothing, and if you enjoy your personal space being invaded, then Egypt is perfect. 'Otherwise, get back on the plane.'
