Manhunt for two inmates who fled Townsville jail

Two inmates have slipped out of Townsville's low-security prison farm, sparking a police search across the region to bring them back in.
Johnathon Joseph Barry, 21, was serving two years five months for common assault when he fled from the Townsville Correctional Centre (low custody male farm) on May 7.
He's dark-skinned, medium build, 174 cm tall, with black hair and brown eyes. Barry has a piercing in his left ear and 'xrjbn 26/05/2022' inked on his left arm.
Alongside him is John William Zaro, 35, who was doing four months for breaching a restraining order.
A Queensland Corrective Services spokesman confirmed Zaro was arrested later on Wednesday morning after absconding from the prison farm.
Inside sources say that despite being fully staffed at the farm on Tuesday night, the pair somehow managed to walk off without being detected, slipping away sometime between the 11.30 pm and 2.30 am head counts.
Police are urging locals not to approach the outstanding escapee, if you spot him, call Triple-0 right away.

The heritage-listed Melbourne Hebrew Congregation synagogue was targeted by vandals on Sunday. One piece of graffiti read 'Iran is da bomb' inscribed in a mushroom cloud, alongside another piece of vandalism that said 'free Palestine'. 'It is believed a wall of the Toorak Road premises was graffitied by an unknown person sometime on Sunday afternoon,' a police spokesman said. 'That was removed but unknown offenders again graffitied the building sometime on Sunday evening.' The graffiti was scrawled soon after US bombs fell on Iran. 'There is absolutely no place at all in our society for anti-Semitic or hate-based symbols and behaviour,' the police spokesman said. Police want anyone with information to come forward. Rabbi Shlomo Nathanson told the Herald Sun: 'We're just frustrated and exhausted by all of this and we hope that is shared by members outside Jewish community'. 'We feel this to be an attack on the Melbourne Hebrew Congregation and it is unacceptable. 'While this is an offence to the Jewish community, it is our hope that people say 'not on my watch, not in my Australia',' the Rabbi said. 'There are moments that stop us cold. This is one of them,' Dr Abramovich said. 'This was not random. It was a calculated attempt to intimidate Jewish Australians. 'Let us be clear: an attack on a synagogue is an attack on every church, every mosque, every temple. It is an attack on the very idea that faith can be practised freely, without fear.' The Premier labelled the graffiti 'disgraceful' and 'senseless'. 'It is just so vitally important that we do not allow conflict and violence overseas to divide us here in Melbourne and Victoria,' Jacinta Allan said. The Melbourne Hebrew Congregation is a monumental temple on the high-traffic corner of Toorak Road and St Kilda Road, about 2km south of the CBD. The building was constructed between 1928 and 1930. The synagogue is heritage-listed for its historical, aesthetic and social significance. The graffiti referencing Iran was written about 12 hours after the US bombed Iranian facilities, which are suspected of being used to enrich uranium and develop nuclear weapons. A longstanding Irish pub in Gippsland where a beloved dad died in a horrific stabbing has hit the market — but it will cost you more than $2m to get your name on the title. AFL MRO news: Marcus Windhager challenges fine for striking Nick Daicos

Gold Coast star Ben King will be free to take on Melbourne on Saturday despite the collision which concussed Lachie Whitfield as footy's stars continue their squeaky clean winter. Only three AFL players have had suspensions upheld in the past five weeks despite the AFLPA suggesting players are confused about the regulations around dangerous tackles. Only Callum Mills (rough conduct against Charlie Spargo), Aidan Johnson (rough conduct against Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera) and Sam Durham (rough conduct against Adam Cerra) have had suspensions upheld in the past five rounds. No other players have been suspended for punches or dump tackles, with Fremantle's Alex Pearce able to overturn his three-match ban for rough conduct on Darcy-Byrne Jones. Whether the quiet period is an aberration or a sign of the change in behaviour for players is yet to be seen, but amid 1000 tackles each weekend it is a reasonable sample size. King tried to hunt the ball in the Gold Coast loss to GWS in Sydney in a collision where Whitfield came off second best. But while players have a duty of care to their opponents, King got the contest first and had both hands down attempting to win the ball. While the video replay shows that he lifted his left hand as Whitfield approached, he still genuinely tried to win the football. The MRO will have to judge whether he contested the ball in a reasonable manner but he did not divert off his line so will feel confident he will be cleared. The AFL did fine St Kilda tagger Marcus Windhager for his open-handed strike which seemed to wind Collingwood's star midfielder Nick Daicos as the pair battled early in the Saturday night contest. He will contest that $1000 fine with a written submission to the tribunal. Under MRO rules, a strike is considered a blow delivered with force so it does not have to be a closed-hand punch to be assessed as reportable. St Kilda coach Ross Lyon wondered if there were two sets of rules after his player was penalised several times early in that contest. 'I'm not sure they were free kicks, but I think we'll take that in (to the AFL) and ask the question,' Lyon said. 'Are there two sets of rules going around? I'm not sure.'
