CM to launch surprise inspections from June

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday informed officials that he would begin surprise inspections of government schemes and services starting next month.
While reviewing government schemes and public services at the Secretariat, Naidu discussed public feedback with Chief Secretary K Vijayanand and other senior officials. 'Surprise inspections could begin any time after June 12 across the state,' said Naidu. The Chief Minister is reviewing public feedback weekly across four departments. This week, he analysed feedback on ration distribution, Deepam 2 (the free cooking gas scheme), Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), and panchayat services.
With the coalition government nearing its one-year mark, Naidu emphasised the need for complete public satisfaction in all departments regarding service delivery. While some departments have shown improvement, services such as APSRTC still require significant quality enhancement, he noted. Regarding Deepam 2, Naidu announced that the subsidy for three cooking gas cylinders, provided annually to beneficiaries, will now be credited in full upfront.
Beneficiaries can claim the cylinders as needed, but the government will ensure that the entire subsidy amount is transferred at once. He emphasised that no agency or intermediary should collect any additional money from beneficiaries.
Although West Godavari district emerged as the most satisfactory in terms of ration distribution and delivery in feedback, Naidu acknowledged that issues persist in some areas that need to be addressed. He suggested directly crediting the subsidy amount to beneficiaries' accounts to prevent delivery agents from demanding money during gas delivery.
Given that public satisfaction with APSRTC remains below expectations, Naidu directed officials to enhance the quality and efficiency of its services. Regarding panchayat services, Naidu said that 60 per cent of respondents confirmed regular household waste collection. He noted that garbage collection in rural areas has improved and announced that Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) women would soon be engaged in managing wet waste and compost production.
Naidu underscored the importance of data analytics in improving government services, stating that it enables departments to assess their performance from the grassroots level. He said that proper analysis of public feedback could lead to transformative improvements in service delivery. Naidu instructed senior officials across all departments to leverage analytics tools to enhance their services and performance.
On WhatsApp governance, the Chief Minister said currently, 325 services are being delivered through WhatsApp Governance. Since the launch of 'Mana Mitra' on WhatsApp, 4.5 million people have used these services successfully. The target is to expand to 500 services by June 12, and preparations are underway.
Regarding the proposed Drone City, he said it would be established on 300 acres in the Orvakal Industrial Node. Phase 1 will cover 116 acres, and 38 companies have already expressed interest in partnering. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is ready, and the tendering process will be completed by June 12, the Chief Minister added.

The AP government is making rapid progress on key fronts such as the Polavaram project, Amaravati capital development, attracting industries and investments, and creating employment opportunities for 20 lakh people. 'To assess the good governance delivered over the past year and outline the roadmap for the future, this special meeting is being held under the banner "First Step towards Good Governance." Discussions will also cover the objectives for the current year and the targets to be achieved. Tehran: Amid Iran's ongoing conflict with Israel, Iranians living abroad are encountering eerie disruptions while trying to call friends and family back home. Instead of hearing a ringtone or a familiar voice, many are met with strange, robotic voicemail messages. In some cases, the calls are intercepted by an automated voice saying, "Alo? Alo? Who is calling? I can't heard you... I think I don't know who are you." In a telephone call recording, a person outside of Iran calling their friend in the country was met with a robotic voice, reported CNN. "Hello, and thank you for taking the time to listen," the voice said. "Life is full of unexpected surprises and these surprises can sometimes bring joy while, at other times, they challenge us. The key is to discover the strength within us to overcome these challenges," it added. Following a roughly 90-second eerie message, the listener is advised to close their eyes and see themselves in a setting that offers them "peace and happiness." This version seems to have been the most widely heard by those outside of Iran who made calls to Iranian mobile phones on Wednesday and Thursday, while other variants have also been recorded. People calling landlines did not get any similar messages. The message began surfacing widely after Iran imposed a nationwide internet restriction on Wednesday, citing security concerns. With apps like WhatsApp rendered inaccessible, many people abroad resorted to direct phone calls to reach friends and family inside Iran, only to be met with strange, automated voice messages. These messages are reportedly not heard when calls are made through internet-based apps. While some initially suspected an Israeli cyberattack, others pointed to Iran's own government as the likely source. Theories range from a technical fallback system triggered by network outages to a deliberate diversion tactic amid the near-total internet and telecom blackout enforced since June 17. Some observers also believe it could be a form of psychological warfare playing out alongside the Israel-Iran conflict. Alp Toker, the founder and director of NetBlocks, a non-governmental group that keeps an eye on internet governance, thinks the messages are an effort by the Iranian government to restrict telecommunications. "The point is, when the internet is cut, the phones need to go somewhere, and that will go to the fallback message on the device," he told CNN. 8.5L applications received during Revenue Sadassulu: Telangana Minister Ponguleti

HYDERABAD: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Saturday revealed that around 8.5 lakh applications related to land-related issues were received during the recent Revenue Sadassulu conducted by the state government. 'The recently held Revenue conferences revealed how landowners were troubled by the previous Telangana Rights in Land and Pattadar Pass Books Act, 2020,' he said. Srinivasa Reddy held a review meeting at the Secretariat on the just-concluded Revenue Sadassulu (conferences). During the meeting, he instructed the Revenue authorities and officials of various districts to respond promptly to the applications received from the people. After the meeting, he issued a press statement, stating that the state government was revamping the land administration system, which according to him had been completely destroyed during the BRS regime. He also said that the government was strictly implementing the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Act, 2024, while claiming that the change is already being felt in the state. 'The new RoR Act brought transparency to land governance, which was lacking in the Telangana Rights in Land and Pattadar Pass Books Act, 2020. The new Act is paving the way for addressing the long-pending land issues,' he added. He said that around 60% of the approximately 46,000 applications received in the second phase have already been addressed. He said that over eight lakh applications were received from 10,239 villages during the third phase of Revenue conferences. The government has already computerised around 3.27 lakh applications, he added.
