Israeli Drone Targets Lebanese Army Checkpoint in Southern Lebanon
Israeli occupation forces carried out a direct strike on a Lebanese Army checkpoint on Sunday, in what marks a significant escalation in the ongoing series of cross-border violations by the Israeli enemy in southern Lebanon.
According to local reports, an Israeli drone launched two missiles targeting a military checkpoint on the main road connecting the towns of Beit Yahoun and Kounin in the Bint Jbeil district—an essential route that links southern villages to the central sector, particularly to the town of Tebnine.
A civilian small van vehicle sustained a direct hit during the attack while passing the checkpoint. The missiles struck inside the military post, hitting guard positions and defensive structures.
Initial reports indicate that one or two Lebanese soldiers were injured by shrapnel and were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Israeli strike made no distinction between military and civilian presence and targeted the checkpoint in broad daylight, despite its known location and its daily use by dozens of vehicles.
Ongoing Israeli drone activity was reported over the area both before and after the strike, part of what has become a near-constant presence of surveillance aircraft in Lebanese airspace, particularly over the south.
International Silence and Diplomatic Stalemate
The incident comes amid continued international silence and growing frustration with the failure of the Quintet Committee and its sponsoring nations to curb the Israeli enemy's widening military campaign in Lebanon.
What once appeared to be limited to strikes on residential areas and civilian infrastructure has now extended to direct attacks on Lebanese military positions, as seen in Beit Yahoun.

Israeli warplanes carry out wave of airstrikes on south Lebanon
by Naharnet Newsdesk 23 June 2025, 20:14 Israel carried out airstrikes in parts of south Lebanon, including in Iqlim al-Tuffah. Monday's airstrikes were more intense than the usual near-daily ones that Israel has carried out since a ceasefire ended its 14-month war with Hezbollah in November. The strikes targeted the outskirts of Ansar-Zrariyeh, Tebna-Bissariyeh, Azza, Buslaya, Houmine al-Fawqa, Mazraat al-Mahmoudiyeh and al-Aishiyeh and came hours after Hezbollah leader Sheikh Naim Qassem said the group will not join the war between Iran and Israel for now. Qassem spoke in his first public comments since the U.S. inserted itself into the war on Sunday, saying his group is ready to back any decision taken by the Lebanese state to force Israel to stop the war. Israeli's military said it struck rocket launchers and an arms depot for Hezbollah.
