Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom Reportedly Hit 'Rough Patch' Amid Career Chaos, Distance And Drama

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are reportedly navigating a challenging phase in their relationship. After nearly a decade together and an engagement since 2019, sources say things have gotten rocky. According to reports, the couple is growing apart due to career setbacks, personal decisions, and an increasing emotional distance between them. Nevertheless, there is hope that the pair aren't breaking up anytime soon and will get through the "rough patch." All is reportedly not well between Katy Perry and Bloom. Recently, a source opened up to the Daily Mail about the lovebirds, revealing that the two were experiencing some turbulence in their relationship due to incidents that had occurred over the last few months. "Katy has been through it the last few months. Leaving American Idol, releasing her lackluster album, the debacle over her space mission, and her struggling tour have been disappointing and stressful," the insider said. According to them, the singer only had a few people she could confide in, Bloom being one of them. However, his busy schedule as an actor, alongside his parenting duties, was taking a toll on their relationship. "There aren't many people she can dump her emotions on, but obviously she can with Orlando. But with his work and juggling parenting, life as of late has put a strain on their relationship," they said. The insider revealed that, true to the rumors, Perry and Bloom were going through tough times. However, they still had a chance of fixing things. "The rumors of a rough patch are true, but it's not at the point of no return. They know they must fix things, and they both want to figure it out," they explained. The source added that for the singer and actor to sort things out, they needed to create time to discuss and find a solution. "They haven't been able to sit down and work on some of their issues. A breakup isn't imminent," they shared. However, despite the situation not being so bad, the insider stressed the importance of addressing their issues before they get to a point of no return. They added, "They both know they should focus on their relationship before it does become too late." Amongst the many reasons for the cracks in their romance, Katy Perry's decision to go on an all-female space trip seemingly heightened the tension between them. The 40-year-old had previously gushed about the adventure during a radio interview, revealing that her fiancé was "all about the journey." However, a source would later reveal that Orlando Bloom never supported the trip. Speaking to The Sun, they revealed the Hollywood star felt the mission was a mistake and believed it would spark backlash, something he feared "from day one." Though Bloom and their daughter Daisy were in the crowd, watching as Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin spacecraft took off, he was allegedly both "frustrated" and "disappointed" by Perry's choice, feeling his concerns weren't taken seriously. While Perry's decision to go to space contributed to the issues in their relationship, the singer's latest album "143" seemed to be the genesis. Fans had hoped the album would do well and top the charts, as it marked Perry's return to music after she quit "American Idol." However, upon its release in September 2024, it became the lowest-scoring album on Metacritic since 2011. The album faced major backlash due to Perry's collaboration with Lukasz Gottwald, popularly known as Dr. Luke, who had been accused of emotional abuse and sexual assault by Kesha. Perry would later defend her choice to work with Dr Luke during an appearance on her "Call Her Daddy" podcast, noting per The Hollywood Reporter, "The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that. One of the writers, one of the producers. I am speaking from my own experience." Following the release of the album, Katy Perry was reportedly unhappy about its reception, and the emotional stress put a strain on her relationship with Bloom. "Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album," an insider told PEOPLE. "It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension." Another source shared that Perry "was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It's put stress on their relationship." Now, reports suggest that the couple's relationship is done for good, with a source telling Page Six, "it's over. They are waiting till her tour is over before they split."
